*Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*
This is really interesting but all the ones that I’ve ever Bought especially the hunting blinds you always pull the top up first which your way seems a lot easier
I have a 360 Thermal, I don't care what the instructions say, I pull out one wall with Zipper then climb inside and push out the other 3 and the roof last, it's what ever works best for you.
Thank you, just bought a Frabill portable. I've set up mu buddies with him a few times but it didn't play out like this! Lol. This was great, no pole snaps here!
50 degrees and you don't even need to strap it down? Don't listen to that comment. All it takes is one gust of wind and you loose your shelter. Even if you have snow packed down on the corners of the tent. I learned a rough lesson last winter. I was able to get my tent back though haha. I got lucky.
My buddy bought a clam hut like this. There were no anchor points @ the corners. He added them into the skirt. I bought an Eskimo has em in their huts. Saved $ and time with Eskimo.
I bought this (non-insulated) for cold weather high mountain desert camping as opposed to the regular screen sided CLAM w/Velcro sides... To use more as a Privacy Tent and to keep warm if needed.
Watched a bunch of these not strapped down tip over this year. Even those old suitcase clams seemed to stay up but those "hub" designs definitely need to be screwed down.
I bought one on Kijiji the guy showed me it popped up but when I took it home the four corners don’t line up and it doesn’t pop up right (at all) did I get screwed over and can I fix this problem?
I have the same problem with mine, haven't even had it on the ice yet, try to master it in my living room floor, corners don't even come close to lining up, let me know if you figured out how to fix that, very very frustrating. Thank you
Nice that you didn't have ANY Wind that day. More often than not, it is necessary to anchor the ice shack before popping it up because of wind, even mild wind.
They won’t fly away if you bring a tiny shovel with you. Just shovel all around the base on top of the material with slushy snow and it’s completely fine in heavy winds.
In my research, no they are not. Simply a different brand with very minor differences. Both Clam and Eskimo are very good quality. If you don't have any brand loyalty ... watch for a sale and get either at an end-of-season discount. :)
This is NOT what the instructions state!!! Instruction manual states: NOTE: The blue looped hub (roof) gets deployed FIRST on set-up and collapsed LAST on take-down.
He should at least teach u how to put it down. Cause that step is important. If u don't closed the top first...n u closed the side first. U gonna have a major problem. All arms or u can called legs get all tangle up. Nxt time u open up. It aint gonna look right

Nice video... I like watching a video where the presenter smiles as they talk.👍 Friendly
Good lesson. Now, in real time, please make a "How to Properly TAKE DOWN a Hub Shelter". Know it's in reverse, but folding up is a task, too.

Very easy setting up but it's the take down is what gets me.

I never anchor mine on calm days. Never had a problem. If there is a little breeze, I'll anchor a couple spots facing the wind on my 6 sided hub.
On a windy day put at least one ice anchor in first so your hub don’t blow away . Then when up finish screwing it down
It really helped me and brother when we needed it at -15
Slightest bit of wind turns these into kites. Best to anchor down.
haha thats very true, mine blew 5 miles across lake simcoe last year
Yup eleven mile dow lake dief 4 years ago took me a week to get it un twisted

Basically a hunting blind
I use my camo blind when ice fishing
Just anchor it
My blind opens exactly like this
I have as much trouble collapsing my Frabill as I do setting it up if not more. I wish you had taken as much time with the takedown.
Thank you, just bought a Frabill portable. I've set up mu buddies with him a few times but it didn't play out like this! Lol.

Obviously you did not pay for that shelter or you would not be walking on the canvas material with ice cleats.
Wow that seems fun so lucky love from Australia
I'm glad a rocking scientist like him put a video out so I know how to put up mine
We set ours up inside out, is that possible or was it factory assembled backwards?
Thanks! ....I just spent the last 1/2 hour teaching myself new curse words.
dont ever set up without anchors----i saw 3 of these fly away--yesterday
Thanks for the update..The instructions I got with the tent ⛺ were all incorrect
Thanks. I got a little shelter. Vevor. 60" sides. Very hard to set up. No success yet. Maybe tomorrow...

So what if it’s a windy day?? Put snow on the sides or what cause winters here are normally windy
Are these hubs/tents good for staying overnight ?

One I just bought at an ice show came with anchor points and anchors. Thru must have figured it out.

I agree I used my 40 year old clam hut off lake Erie today in buffalo harbor never have to tie down
I have an Outsunny 4-6 and it was not that easy. The roof took about 80lbs of pressure to open.
On windy days I put ice anchors in both up wind corners. On day like you showed would not use shelter.
Yeah, sunny, no wind, 50 degrees. NO need for a shelter.
on this kine of beautiful weather , who need e Hut.....
no glove and dont even have a tuque. must not even be 0degrees.
It’s a demonstration....
Great vid, thanks man!
Very helpful, thank you!!

I like to set an anchor on each corner first

What is Wala. Lol. It Voila
So why didn't you show to take it down and fold it up?
11 months ago I set it up. Now I'm trying to take it down... No success yet...
Maybe tomorrow.
My husbands C890 is so twisted up we feel like just burning it
trying to replace my hub ice shantys poles..need a contact number.

Depends on what you consider high winds. Went out today 25-35 mph with 50mph gusts.
Not recommended to seal the bottom. You need some air to flow through the tent. Especially if the doors are zipped.
For sparing you need it you can’t spear on the ice without shelter
great "show how" video. good luck fishing
ARe these better than Eskimo tents?
In my research, no they are not. Simply a different brand with very minor differences. Both Clam and Eskimo are very good quality. If you don't have any brand loyalty ... watch for a sale and get either at an end-of-season discount. :)
No
love my bigfoot
Always start with top because I’m tall. Def works the best, this video made it more complicated then it is ....
best tip is put in the ice pegs first so it doesnt blow away and its easier to pop up
I didn't know people used cleats I never used them
I guess you have been lucky not to fall on your tail bone. It hurts.
I never used them either. But he said it was 50 degrees. I guess that's Fahrenheit, but the ice was prob melting

Wola? Lol!

50 degrees doesn't require a shelter
He left it unzipped and it’s twisted up sooo bad! $500 dollar tent in the garbage!! There is no instructions on how to disassemble it completely
она холодная
Если в Сибири. Час от Бостона -5 по Цельсию
not "as" easy with a 30 mph wind when its negative degrees out.
I got clam expedition..it doesn't lay flat like that..total POS..service is another story
You are setting up a shelter on a day you don't need a shelter. You wouldnt be making it look easy if it were a windy day.
Good presentation, too much distraction with the background rock music.
