Great overview of the sawtooth 45 Trail, bought it after watching your review of the selway. Any chance you would want to do a demo video on putting the stick-it on this pack. Bought the Sawtooth and stick-it after asking MR if compatible, which they said they are but really don't see how without some modifications as top horizontal compression straps don't have a place to attach. Thanks and no worries if you can't

A video for mounting the stick-it is much needed. Been fumbling with it on my sawtooth as well.

Thinking about picking this pack up for my 14 year old daughter. She's just over 5ft tall. Hoping the adjustments in the frame hieght will fit her.

Looks like the baby brother to the Beartooth 80. I like how Mystery Ranch has thought of practically everything and those bags are set up for convenience and ease of use with how it folds out like a duffel bag, all the pockets, how the load frame works, etc... My brother is going to let me use his exterior frame pack for our potential 5 day OTC mule deer hunt with a rifle in Idaho, but that doesn't mean that I won't be interested in getting one for myself when he is out of the military in a year. This one is probably too small for that, but I can't afford the $500-$600 packs like the Selaway to Marshall. I asked in the Beartooth review what is the least expensive MR pack that one could use in that scenario given that I would be with my brother for pack outs if we get a cow elk or mule deer? The Pintler at $425 looks about right, not sure if I could go down to the Mule or Pop Up 28 though? Great review video and thorough overview as always. Thanks for sharing.

Good question and sorry I missed it in the other video. But if you are day hunting from a base camp I would take a hard look at the Mule. The bag itself is ideally suited for day hunting and with the Guide Light Frame and is going to be a much better load hauler than the pop-up. If you are trying to backpack hunt there is also the option to add a dry bag and run it on the load shelf between the bag and frame. That would give you the volume for your extra gear but once you kill something you are likely to make additional trips. The Mule is the most cost-effective option at $375. At $450 the Sawtooth is a very nice option and actually cheaper than the Pintler. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any follow up questions!

@@GOHUNT No worries I definitely understand and appreciate that you guys put in the long hours to lower the hurdles and give us hunters or want to be western hunters as much valuable information at our fingers in one place as possible. I seen that you just dropped the Nevada Sheep and goat strategy article, the separate deer and elk one too, plus WY deer and pronghorn will be in 1.5 months so you are busy.
I was definitely more leaning towards the Mule myself so thanks for the confirmation there. From what I can gather from my brother whom is still overseas, we would be hiking in quite a few miles then setting up a base camp with either 2 person backpack tents or a teepee tent similar to the one Lorenzo and Brandon used in Idaho for that mule deer hunt which is what we are most likely going for as well. Thanks for the tips and information, I can see what you mean the Pop Up is more of a day pack that in a pinch could be used for deer or pronghorn sized game I wouldn't trust it with an elk hindquarter and my gear at the same time. So the Mule is what I will look into more, unless by the time I am ready I can save the extra cash for the Sawtooth or Pintler.

Just ordered the sawtooth 45, would it accommodate a swaro ATX/STX with 85 mm objective in the spotter pocket?

Really struggling to figure out which bag is better since they are so similar in size...this one or the Pintler? Don't they really do a lot of the same things?

If you're familiar or like how the TriZip are on most MR packs, I say get the new 2020 Pintler. I have the 2018-19 Pintler and I prefer the Trizip over the Duffel Zipper, mainly because of the snag or stiffness once you hit the "corners" of the Sawtooth's Duffel Zipper if packed to the fullest. The new Guidelight MT's 5-pcs belt is beefier than my 2018-19 Guidelight....I haven't packed anything on the meatshelf, so I cannot comment on that.

I bought mine with the same intent but have not had a chance to use it yet, so I'll qualify this response with, "it really depends on the amount of gear you are bringing but if you use the overload feature to carry extra gear should work"

I would suggest you take a look at the Selway. It was also updated this year and will come on the new Guide Light Frame. It offers almost 3,800 Cubic Inches vs the Sawtooth at 2746. It's perfectly suited I would say for a weekend (3 days, 2 nights) With an added dry bag between the bag and frame (load shelf) you could do as many nights as you want. Hope that helps!

Hey Logan! We hear you on that. A lot of our team members use these backpacks in the field. We should of had them bring their personal bags in, instead of grabbing them from the warehouse. We will keep that in mind for our videos! We appreciate your feedback.
