One of the reasons I returned by MR pack is that frame at 25” only works for “most people”. Watched your video and others from last year and being 6’4”, those load lifters do not work for people as tall as me. MR makes awesome packs, wish they had a taller frame. Ended up spending about two hundred more for a Kifaru pack because MR frame is to short.
I just snagged this bag and I own the Stone Glacier Sky Archer 6400. The SG holds more, but that MR is waaaaaay more comfortable in my opinion. It also seems to be more durable and the way to adjust the frame is much better. I should of went with the larger bag they make, but I will just snag it later. I am 6'0 tall as well.
Appreciate the review but please consider some sound damping corners to reduce the echo and some Mybecca (or brand of choice, just what I use) acoustic panels which make a minimal visual difference to the studio space but greatly impact the sound quality. Keep up the good work!
Great input! We are always trying to improve on our video quality and it is something we have been considering as well! Hopefully in the future we will not have this problem.
Come on guys fill the damn pack up when you are doing a review like this it helps really see the bag what it looks like how it fills out. It just looks like a jumbled mess of straps and material.
For a guy on a bit of a budget coming from the east and potentially going on his first western big game hunt with my brother what is the least expensive Mystery Ranch pack you guys would recommend for a 5 day OTC rifle season hunt in Idaho for mule deer and/or potentially a cow elk this season. As of my current job and time off available I will only be able to go on one public land hunt with a tent set up along with my youngest brother once a year so I don't think I would have to go with Pintler at $475, the Selaway at $495, Metcalf at $525 respectively. Would the Pop Up 28 at $300 (which sadly is out of stock right now, but I know will be back in before season) or the Mule at $375 work since they too have load barring shelves? Great breakdown video of the beartooth pack by Trial by the way, I can see why it is worth the cost.
Check craigslist brother. You'd be surprised what you can find on there. I cant personally give you a recommendation for hunting. Personally I'm using a Terraframe 80 to hike the PCT and honestly it's a wicked pack. Call up Mystery Ranch and they can help you decide a lot better. Cheers!
Great video, very informative. I was wondering what pack do you think is better the Metcalf or the beartooth? I am about to buy a new pack for my first elk hunt this year In Idaho. Was going to buy the Metcalf but after watching this Im leaning toward the beartooth. Thanks.
I have never personally hunted with the Metcalf. However, I have had the opportunity to play with one. I recently purchased a bear tooth and I absolutely love it. The new waist belt works better for me as well.
I was in the same boat. After some research I soon concluded the best tooth is the new and improved metcalf. Improved frame, easier access to the meat shelf, lighter material, better buckles, better accessibility to the pack, more organizational pockets and it's a little bigger too. At only 50bux more. No brainer.
At first I thought ,"this reminds me of my old lowe Alpine Contour IV". But its really like its, really focused brother on steroids. Awsome pack. One addition I like to see, is that the top lid would convert into a butt pack, like the Contour IV. I have set base camp and used that lid for summiting and general hiking. Great Pack you have there!!!

Just ordered one of these from gohunt. The top lid is much bigger than it looks in videos. Could easily be used as a small day pack by itself!

Lid can be day pack ; mule pack coming so can get three packs not to mention frame only
would to see it actually mounted ON body
