Where do you connect the fuel pressure gauge ? I found the service port for the regulator but there’s a tag there that says 1psi regulated pressure. Where do you connect to get an accurate reading ? I’ve got a 99 Dakota.
Could it also be a clogged fuel filter causing a hard no start? I have an 02 dakota 3.9v6 too, My truck has same issue. Getting fuel at rail amd can hear fuel pump prime too Found out an injector is loose could this also be an issue of no start too Truck sat in truck for year or two, due of this issue. Finally get around to old dawg, need haul stuff from yard.
One bad injector would usually cause a misfire but not a no start, a clogged filter definitely would cause a no start but you said you had fuel at the rail, check for spark to, a have a video on it , it’s a Subaru but the principal is the same, good luck
@hometown issue ended up being a faulty ignition coil. When i pull the plug looked as if its the original from when it was first built never been changed. I made a short video of the bad coil. Swap it out truck fired up. Now I'm fixed the 100k maintenance items.👍
I have a 99 Dodge Dakota that has an electical issue, the grey hardness attached to the computer is not sending a signal to the computer. I have replaced the hardness with another one but it's still not working. HELP! what can I do to get it to work?
I've got one that does not like to start after it sits. If I give it just a bit of throttle it'll fire up and run fine. Replaced plugs, wires, iac, tps, and got qlmsot.50psi fuel pressure. It does leak down to 10 psi in about 4 min but thats ok right?? still doing it. Any ideas
To answer your question; Yes that’s normal on the leak down fuel pressure I would make sure you have proper fuel pressure during the extended crank time , if you do start looking at something besides the fuel pump Hopefully this helps I
Do a control test on your injectors, hook a test light up to positive and the other end to your injector ground, it should flash when you crank the engine
@@hometownautorepair3121 did the fuel pump fix your issue? I was thinking that the relay that you tested was not the correct one based on the schematic underneath the cover. I know that they are hard to read but I believe one side is labeled a and one side is labeled B. I think the fuel pump relay was the lower right hand of the relays.
Possibly, have an assistant spray starting fluid into the intake while you’re trying to keep it running, if it continues to run while there spraying then it’s most likely a fuel pump
good video bud
The most simple thing would have been to spray some gas into the intake or on the filter after knew it had spark
very informative video. thank you.

On the fuel rail service port driver side
Its in front of distributor cap on driverside.
Its small valve on fuel rail.
It may have a black cap on it, twist it off, not pull

Wiggle the gray connector while you have a friend try and start it
I have the exact same problem ! Changed the thermostat and it ran turned it off next morning won’t start

@hometownautorepair3121 what else should I look into
i have same issue except changing pump didmt fix problem. there is no power at the fuel pump connector..but relays and fuses are fine
Open circuit between the relay and pump
Did replacing the fuel pump work?
Yes
I have the same problem but I have fuel pressure going to the rail but it seems like the injectors aren’t spraying

I would say there’s no power going to the injectors, the computer may be shutting them down because it senses something it doesn’t like
@@DjCBlaq a pump did fix it ,but I know what your saying about the relay is hard to place according to the diagram on lid

good video,,but get a light,,,,,,,,,,,,,tnx
What was the problem then
I know this video is old but what if it starts then dies. Still a bad pump?

But did you fix it?
Yes with a fuel pump
Same prob, put new pump on and crank sensor, still won't start
See if your rpm gage moves very slightly when cranking engine
