- Please keep in mind I don't remember if many of these are classics or blowouts when I rewatch/edit them. Even better when I don't remember who won... this one's outcome was obvious though
2002 Miami Hurricanes @ Florida Gators
Miami was so good they could make a million mistakes and throw 2 picks and still easily win. They should’ve beaten them by 40 with ease.
It was against zook. Zook is terrible. The end of the 01 season it should’ve been Florida vs Miami in the championship. Florida lost a heartbreaker to Tennessee that kept them out of it.
Ron Zook’s Gators. This Florida team went 8-5.
Don't matter if it was Zook or Meyer the Gators would've got thier clock cleaned either way just like they did recently!
I still can't believe Sean Taylor is gone.
He might have ended up the best safety to ever play at the U , not to mention a humble & really nice guy ... R.I.P. Sean
dude was a freak among freaks, 6'3 225 lb safety lol that hit like a linebacker. He would have been the greatest ever imo
It’s wild cause in 2001 he was definitely on the roster, but it was Ed Reed senior season, them both on the field 😳 Rest In Love to my favorite player, forever miss you and will forever remember you #26 #36 #21
Miami physically dominated Florida in the trenches. That was the difference in this game. Dorsey played arguably the worst game of his career on this day. He was very inaccurate for most of the game. Miami’s defense bent but didn’t break early. They eventually took over the game and dominated the Gators. Miami should’ve won three (3) straight National Championships in this era. They were robbed in 2000 by the BCS computer. They would’ve smoked Oklahoma! They won it in 2001 with arguably the greatest college football team of all time. They were robbed again in 2002 by a terrible pass interference call in overtime in the game against Ohio State.
Mcgahee crossed the goal line so it should of been a touchdown for the canes but the refs screwed over Miami again.
The DPI is arguably the worst call in college history. Still hurts....
Dorsey was not a good QB, making too many mistakes. Nothing is guaranteed.
College football was better when Florida, Miami and FSU were on top.
These were the days the state of Florida ruled college football im a CANES fan I'll be glad when the big 3 get back on top so we can beat up on each other and everyone else. BTW best team to EVER touch a college field not even close between them, 2019 LSU, or that Vince Young led Texas outfit why folks gompare then I don't know this was literally an NFL farm team love my CANES! We comin back soon.
The sad thing is Florida refuses to play The U every year, scared of an annual beat down.
Gators got BASHED; and back in 2000 blowing out FL was Miami's compromise for being passed over for FL state after beating the Seminoles. They won the State Championship by bashing Gators.
And to think out of the 3 dynasty teams (00,01,02) - this team was the weakest on paper and on the field lol. Those 3 squads were absolutely ridiculous.
Amma ride and die Seminole fan those Canes in the early 2000s was 😨scary good
True that 😂
The DJ Williams hit on the pulling OG at the 30:07 mark was amazing. He put a 300+ OL ON HIS ASS!!!!
DJ was a Beast
Man this canes team was aggressive as f**k
😭😭 to my Canes fans and this is why the Gators are scared to play us every year they stay play the Seminoles tho
Mcgahee was something else man
Yes he was!
Yea!! I lost it when he shattered his knee!!
McGahee was super smooth, fast, and powerful!! I loved watching him run the ball. The amazing thing about our 2001 team is he was 4th on the depth chart!
@@SJM6791no he was 2nd string and Frank Gore was 3rd string
How many penalties and they still kicked there ass?
Thats whats im talking about.
Sean Taylor could have been as good as Edward Reed or better
Damn, I didn't remember how trash Dorsey played in this game, lol. Thank God the running game and the defense was unstoppable
Dorsey played a lot of games not very well at all. Always threw off back foot. Not much arm strength. We just had super athletes to help look good.
The Fiesta Bowl was super proof of that.
It showed he was the weak link against Ohio State
2002. The last season The Hurricanes were great. Nearly 20 years ago, hard to believe.
2002 should've been the year they got a 3-peat🤷🏾♂️ but we all know how the ncaa felt and still feels about Miami
Man if we had a better QB than Dorsey then we probably would’ve beat Everybody by at least 21 and I mean everybody
This is the reason Florida stopped playing against Miami .
How bout them Canes..👍
Don't worry Lizards, by 2025, we will have to roster to lay on beating up there. I'll be there
Between 2001 to 2004 Miami beat Florida until Florida took Miami off their schedule
Willis McGahee and Frank Gore backed him up. That team was loaded.
Think about that, HOF talent as a back up... that used to be the U, hope Mario gets them thinking & acting like winners like that ? Miami was College football, everyone loved to hate... that's respect !!!
Yes...loaded and completely steroidal
@@randyjohnson6845 hell yeah haha
Gore tore his ACL tear that spring. He would’ve been the starter in 2002. Gore/McGahee backfield would’ve been disgusting
@@randyjohnson6845 based on what?
Back then SEC is just other ordinary conference. Miami from the Big East made Florida look like the Florida Chump lol
Willis McGahee shoulda won the Heisman that year.
As a Canes fan we own the Swamp
Still watching it In 24 one of our greatest rivalry game we played
The guys commutating game talking about if Gaffney and another receiver was still there what Florida could do. Miami beat Florida the year before in 2001 sugar Bowl. If it had not been for the BCS computers Miami would have won a national championship. Sad thing is Miami beat FSU. Yet FSU got to play for the championship. Oklahoma won . And Miami early beat the crap out of Oklahoma.
Never realised how inaccurate Ken Dorsey could be at times and how undisciplined we were with all those damn penalties until I started rewatching all of our old games!!
Same im realizing that his arm strength was an issue in the biggest game a better qb like a Carson palmer would have beaten Ohio state but now I see why he didn't succeed in the NFL lack. Of arm strength which shorten the field he plays like Taylor heinke
Not to mention they threw flags on us everytime we'd fart or cough, that was the only chance they'd have !
@@tommybestonso6509
Lol!! You right about that my brother!!
You gotta realize thar the Miami offense was a big play offense.. their yards came in chunks.. there wasn't any dink and dunk completions to make his stats look gaudy... a lot of times Dorsey would throw off his back foot which led to inaccurate passes
@@edwardfisher9930
True dat
To put some perspective on this blowout loss for Florida:
In Steve Spurrier's 12 years at Florida, he only lost 5 home games by a combined 25 points
Zook lost his 2nd home game by 25 points.
I don't want to hear that Spurrier left the cupboard bare. He inherited a team on probation.
After watching this channel’s games it’s more than apparent that Ken Dorsey wasn’t what we thought he was.
The 2002 OL wasnt nearly as good as 2001. We lost Gonzalez, Bibla, McKinnie. Coker said early in 2002 "the OL is a better at run blocking but have to work on pass blocking. " You could also see the discipline issues with the penalties.
I loved watching this game. It's a reminder of what our DNA once was. We essentially broke Florida's collective will on their turf. An impressive win over 20 years ago that serves as a blueprint on where we need to get to beginning in 2024. We were relentless in this game, despite the mistakes we made. Go Canes!
Boy they hated our canes
Even the refs
We played terribly and still blew these boys out lol. It's amazing how many games we won with poor discipline
This game here is why Florida took the Hurricanes off their schedule, cowards all!
I forgot how undisciplined this ‘02 team was
When Urban Meyer took over the Gators; this is crazy but; they never rushed for as many yards as Meyers Buckeyes do regularly; at least in any close games Id want to watch. Theyre dissapointments. I don't know why; maybe Ohios O lines are much better? Hyde and Zeke are better RBs? I can't name anybody besides Harvin that Tebow handed off to. And Tebows a slow powerback. Maybe thats it; Braxton Miller and JT are fast running QBs racking up the yardage.
Walter White Jeff demps & Chris Rainey
It’s because they had different offenses and different offensive strengths. Meyers’ Gator O focused mostly on Percy Hardin who was basically a wide receiver version of Reggie Bush. Those Ohio State teams had Zeke Elliot.
Also without Harvin and the Pouncey twins those Florida teams struggled to run it consistently probably because their running backs were scat backs. Thus, I think Meyer adapted his offense.
well the big 10 is the big ten lol, not as much competition. There was not nearly as much resistance running against a Michigan defense then say a alabama, or auburn, lol.
@@tyler7549 No. The backs and lines were just better. It wasn’t cuz of no damn Big Ten!
Jeff demps and Chris Rainey 4.3 maybe even 4.2 40 runners
Was t this the year Hurricanes were robbed of a NC? Ohio state still convinced N CHAMPS🤨
Yes it was a terrible pass interference call and a fumble after mcgahee crossed the goal line which should of been a TD but the refs screwed up majorly .If the refs call bs plays Miami should whoop the refs butt lol
Miami physically beat the shit out of the gators. Yes the U was very very talented but physically they won.
That's actually the opposite when Miami played Ohio st in the BCS. Even though Miami was robbed with that late PI call, Ohio st physically kinda won that
Florida gators got woop that year
This is when Florida ran and dominated the college football landscape. I miss these days
Well they got dominated this day 😂😂😂
@@joshuaalexander8327 I meant the entire State of Florida bro. UF, Miami & FSU it’s a point in time we were dominating college football and I am a Canes fan
@@chrisjones720 makes sense now GO CANES 🙌
Miami hurricanes and Florida gators are both my college football teams and that is straight facts 💯💯💯💯💯💯 and I don't care who win these game straight facts 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Great game, few thoughts. 1. Football used to be much more physical. 2. The Canes just out athleted everyone. they actually always should have been much better but ref's and mistakes always cost the Canes from being even better. 3. Few Unsung great players who were forgotten is Mo Sikes & Jason Geathers for the Canes and Ratlif for the Gators.
😂😂 im back after the hurricanes destroyed the swamp 2024 🙌🏾
We had nothing for a qb smh
Ever since Ohio State denied that repeat from this team Miami wouldn’t be at these heights again and Ohio State started to really take off. Crazy thing is Ohio State 20 years later from this Miami team is going to win the national title
I can't believe how Bad of QB Ken Doresy was😢
Miami hasn’t been good since 😂🤣😂🤣
Dorsey, the best!
No repeat title for Canes
When your team plays an eligible player ( clarett) and one of the worst calls in cfb goes agaonst Miami, what do you expect. Also the cheap shot on Willis by that POS allen.
@@LizardCane What a joke, the game shouldn't have even gone to overtime. Refs missed a clear catch by Chris Gamble in the waning moments for Ohio State to win the game. And remind us since you're so well informed, how was Clarett ineligible?
@@YTAnon10 That was a BS overtime call! He clearly said incomplete and then threw his flag. The game was over
I hate the Miami has such a history of piss poor tackling
What history you talking about
