I was using the Duel G 97 310 and I went ahead and bought this one. I'm getting much more spin out of it, and my serve has improve unexpectedly. However, I'm still shanking some shots very long when I do shank them. I think that will get better overtime as I adjust to this racquet. Overall, it was a good upgrade for me
Hello TW ,I hope I'm not "to late to the party" of asking some questions 😅 I just ordered this racket and since I was always playing with Yonex and like to mix new and vintage models, I was wondering how this racket compares to some older classic models like the Yonex Vcore 98d (305g) and Rds 002 (300g)? In all aspects (power, spin, net play/serves...) And just one more question, I used the Luxilon Original 1.30 string and the Rpm Blast on my previous rackets and with the tension of 23kg..so are these strings and tension also a good choice for this racket or what do you guys recommend? Thanks! Kind regards from Croatia, Mateo
Brilliant frame and my current racquet of choice. I also have a 290 gms version of the same and would like to convert that one to a spec similar to the 310 version. Can you guide me with the weight distribution (weight to be added to the hoop and handle) and position (on the hoop)? I will be using babolat balancer tungsten strips.
@Praful Asher, I believe each one of those weight strips is 4 inches long. Try cutting one of those strips down to about down to 2.5 inches long, and apply it at the twelve o'clock position (top of the hoop). That should bring the swing weight up, so that it is similar to the VCORE Pro 97 310. That will add about 2 grams to the racquet. The other 15-18 grams or so, that you need to add to the racquet, I would recommend adding to the handle. You could apply a leather grip, which is about 10 grams, or just use something like our Tennis Warehouse Tungsten Putty, or a combination of both. Here is a video, in regards to adding weight inside the handle, with Tungsten putty: th-cam.com/video/XPYcUghB4Xc/w-d-xo.html. Troy, TW
Hi TW, Thanks you all, the reviews are awesome! I demoed this Yonex racquet, but I am a long-term user of the Wilson Blade line and, although I really liked the racquet, I had some trouble adapting to the Yonex grip shape. Troy and Sean, did you have any problems like this? Did you use the same grip size on both brands? Which size? Any tips? I would love to be able to use the Yonex grip shape as effectively as I use the Wilson one. Thanks a lot!!!
@Leo Ser, When switching over to Yonex, from Wilson, I stayed in the same grip size #3 (4 3/8). One thing I preferred, was removing the stock grip, and using either a thin leather grip, such as the TW Private Label Leather Grip (1.3mm thickness), or a Babolat Skin Feel replacement grip. This helped to increase the feel of the bevels, and made the grip size feel similar to Wilson. That said, there are times when I find the grip shape to be slightly more rectangular then most Wilson grip shapes. I tried adding a layer or two of double sided tape on the pallet of the handle, only on the sides that line up with the string plane, or face of the racquet, (top and bottom of the pallet, if that makes sense). This seemed to help make the grip shape feel a bit more symmetrical, for me. I hope that helps. Troy, TW
@Leo Ser, I have not. If you are trying to make it more flared, some athletic training tape, cut down to the width of the butt cap flare, and wrapped a few times around the butt cap should work well. You do this underneath the grip on the butt cap. Troy, TW
@@leandros2174 I had this issue. I used some old overgrip folded length ways then cut to fit the girth to wrap around the based of the grip. Then do a full overgrip and it flares out nicely.
Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) vs RADICAL HEAD GRAPHENE TOUCH PRO, which of the two puts more ball weight? Which of the two has more firmness, stability? Which of the two has more comfort? Which of the two has more control?
@Rodrigo Lana, The Radical Pro will have more behind the ball as it has a higher swingweight, so if you can swing it effectively, you will have more mass behind the ball. They are the same weight and have essentially similar stiffness ratings with the VCORE Pro 97 being a tiny bit softer and more comfortable. Both will have similar levels of control. Michelle, TW
This one has more control, and a more responsive feel from its thinner beam. The 360 Speed Pro packs more power, and has a bit larger sweet-spot. I would give the edge in spin potential to this VCORE Pro 97 310. Troy, TW
Just bought one and I really loved this racket; however, I'm thinking of putting a leather grip on it as I usually do. if I put the leather grip would you recommend adding some weight to the hoop and if you do, where?
@Andree Kahhat Sullivan, It is not necessary. I would try the racquet, with just the leather grip added, and see how it plays for you. If you feel like you need some added plow, and stability on contact, I would try adding the weight at either 3 and 9, or 2 and 10 o'clock positions of the hoop. I would start with 2-inch strips, of the Tennis Warehouse Tungsten Tape, or 3-inch strips of (1/4 inch) lead tape. Either type of weight you use, I would take four pieces, or strips, and then apply them to each side of the hoop (2), and then each side of the string-plane (2). For some examples, you can use our Learning Center as a reference: www.tennis-warehouse.com/LC/customize.html. See the sections that are listed as "Improve stability" and "Expand the sweetspot". Troy, TW
@Marco Rossi, We are hoping it will be done soon! We have had our hands full down at BNP and are hoping to get those Yonex reviews out as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience, Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse I especially like the matte feeling compare to the smoothness of the duel g. I used to have a Duel G 310 4 1/8 but changed to a Vcore Pro 280 4 0/8 with leather grip
@Black True, The Wilson Pro Staff 97 2016 (non-CV) packs a bit more power, and plow-through. This Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a bit better control, feel, and is easier to maneuver. Troy, TW
Will I be expecting a huge change if I were to switch to this from the textreme tour 100p? Similar specs with only a slightly smaller head size for the yonex.
@Faeez Haiqal, The way the racquets swings, maneuverability factors, should allow for an easy transition. This VCORE Pro 310 has a bit better precision, but a slightly smaller sweet-spot. I also find it to give me more feel, and response on contact of the ball. The Prince Textreme Tour 100P is more lively, and provides a crisper, more modern feel, which I relate to the thicker beam width. Troy, TW
@Damiano Tennis, Of the three of us, Chris has had the chance to hit with the Poly Tour Strike the most. He says that it has somewhat of a softer feel, with good ball pocketing. A similar string that comes to mind for him is the Luxilon ALU Power. The few times I have hit with Poly Tour Strike, I noticed this string to feel medium, to slightly softer than medium in stiffness, among other co-polys. From the Yonex demo racquets that I was able to try this string in, the tension was rather loose, as if the string felt bagged-out. With that said, I'm not sure if tension maintenance is this string's strong suit. I would have to play with this string for a longer period of time to give you a more accurate assessment. Based on the few times I have hit the Poly Tour Strike, and comparing the price-point, I would likely choose Luxilon ALU Power. Troy, TW
Hi, I've noticed a slightly difference on the stiffness of the 3 vcp97(290 310 330). Can you confirm they are same model just with different weight distribution? Or there are some difference when we play beside the weight.
@Boune Bie, The three different weights, of the VCORE Pro 97 are constructed with the same material, and technologies. The slight differences in stiffness, may be due to the racquets having a bit more/less material in certain locations. You will see this with other lines of racquets as well, for instance the different weights of the Babolat Pure Drive (lite, team, tour, etc.). The stiffness rating is an average we find from a batch of racquets, and the RDC machine we use is only detecting the stiffness in the throat region of the racquet. Troy, TW
how does Pro 97 310g compare the the older versions of this model (VCORE 310) VCORE : tour 97, Tour G 97, Tour F 97, Duel G 97 ? ( i hope these are in order and i haven't missed one) which is the best version.
This one is the most spin friendly (only one with 16x19 pattern), and packs a bit more pop than previous versions. That said, even with some added power, the feel is right up there with previous iterations. I use the 330 gram version, and I found the feel to be the best yet, from the VCORE Tour/Pro lineage. Troy, TW
Hello Tennis Warehouse team ! I have vibration problems with all strings i put on my head prestige pro XT, with an awful sound, especially at the net.. I saw on the net It is due to this model of racket and new head prestige pro touch has resolved this problem apparently. If I change racket I want the best for me.. I have a good level and im changing a bit my game by lifting a bit more than before (spin). Swingweight of my prestige xt pro is quite too high to play long tennis session time (on my wrist). I saw you put a better score in every specs with this yonex compared to head prestige pro touch. In every test I read I see you guys have some difficulties to find power (on serve). I don't want a racket wich have more than 65 Ra and I want the racket to be light in the head balance. Here is my question, between : -Head prestige pro touch -Wilson pro staff 97 CV -Yonex V Core pro 97 Wich is the best for power and feel and manoeuvrability? And both of them have no vibration strings even with polyester and off center shots ? (signum pro polyplasma 1.23, my favorite strings, I have 300m left !!) I'm scared to loose a lot of power with this yonex because 317 swingweight and balance (31 unstrung) seems very low to generate power. Thanks. Nb : I had the yonex dr 98 and did not like because I struggled with slice on backhand and iso form yonex compared to head form racket. There was a strange flexibility wich gave unstable hits. Not solide impression. But this yonex has a more RA score (65) and is a bit less large 97 frame. So it should be fine.
@Orguange, When it comes to feel and maneuverability, the VCORE Pro 97 (310) would be our pick. Based on my hitting experiences, I found the most pop (liveliness) with the Pro Staff 97 CV, but definitely lacked the feel of the VCORE Pro 97. The Graphene Touch Prestige Pro is a good racquet, but I didn't seem to find the power level to be significantly different than the VCORE Pro 97 (310). Being that I didn't notice much of a difference in power, I would likely go with the VCORE Pro 97 (310), as I found a better response and feel from it. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse thanks ! If this yonex is enough powerfull, it seems to be a very good choice indeed ! Maybe severals hours to find power on serve and it could be a dream racket for me. My future rackets soon, on warehouse shop for sure ! :-)
Any word on when this version of the racquet might become available to demo? I see a few of the other version are currently available (the 330g etc...) but I would love to demo this racquet. Thank you!
@Jessica M. Garner, We are hoping to have these racquets for demo in the near future. Please check back to the website, or contact our racquet expert line, at 1-800-799-9230. I will update you here, if I find out an exact availability. Troy, TW
I demoed this racket and loved it.. I think the demo was yonex poly tour pro at 51 lb. too underpowered for my tastes. Was thinking 46 lbs. any reccomendation for a livelier poly? Maybe Tourna Grit as a cheap option
@Grant Williams, A lower tension for a co-poly should work well for you. Tourna Grit could be a good option. I would also consider Volkl Cyclone Tour. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Troy, I tried it again last night, Just would love some more power. Narrowed it down to vcore 98 and the vcore pro 310. Would there be anything to look for when deciding between the two? I don't want to lose the feel of the pro but could probably benefit from some free power from the vcore 98. Just want to know how much more power id get from the 310 lowering the tension
@@30grantw, Lowering the tension will add a bit of life to your string bed, and create a slightly higher launch angle, the lower you go with it. You would likely notice a more significant boost in power, if you went with a hybrid. Something like Head Velocity MLT, Gosen AK Pro CX, or Babolat Synthetic gut in the crosses, would help add some power. Furthermore, the VCORE 98 (305), has a higher avg. swingweight than the VCORE Pro 97 (310), by about 5 points. A quick way to add a little power to the VCORE Pro 97 (310), would be to add a bit of weight tape to the tip of the racquet, and try to get the swing weight closer to the VCORE 98 (305). To add about 5 points in swingweight, you need about 4 inches total of TW Tungsten Tape at 12 o'clock, which adds about 1.5 grams to the racquet. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse that sounds great! I’m gonna add weight at 12 for sure to bring up seingweight. Was going to string maybe vokl cyclone or tour bite at 45 lb to start. For the hybrid what would you say is the most similar to natural gut of what you mentioned? I know nothing can replicate gut but what’s close?
@Leonardo Ramirez, The SV 95 packs a bit more pop, and although the beam is barely thicker than the VCORE Pro 97, it plays with a slightly more modern feel. By that I mean it feels slightly more firm, and less responsive compared to the to the VCORE Pro 97. Not uncomfortable, but just a bit more rigid. The VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more of a responsive feel. A decent pop to it, but with great control. The slightly thinner beam seems to cut through the air easier. For comfort and control, I would give the slight edge to the VCORE Pro 97 (310). For a bit more power, I would go with the SV 95. Hope that helps. Troy, TW
Thanks Troy. Currently I am testing the SV95 and waiting for the Pro97. I tend to buy them as I like to test them extensively and with different strings, although now a days I feel good with Tonic+ and a round poly. The SV95 feels good in all areas of the court except maybe that modern feel you describe. I find it slightly too rigid as I have wrist problems. I used the Tour G for a long time and came out of it wanting a bit more pop and the Pro97 with the 16x19 seems to be the answer on paper. Thanks.
@Leonardo Ramirez, Your string set-up is about as good as it gets. The SV 95 is a good stick, just needs a bit of weight in my opinion. I think you will dig the VCORE Pro 97. Good luck in the search... Troy, TW
Dear TW team, you are the best - as usual - we came to know about the new yonex strings which are Poly Tour Drive and the one used in your test which is Poly Tour Strike, can you please let us know when Strike will be available for sale ? Note: Drive is already available in UK now but Strike is not available anywhere :) Thanks
@Sherif Fouad, Sorry for the delayed response, but we did not have much info on a set release date. It appears that we did get a shipment to our warehouse. If you would like to purchase a set, please call our racquet expert line, at 1-800-799-9230, and they should be able to set-up an order for you. We are hoping to have it on our website soon. Troy, TW
I'm new to stringing, and I'm having a lot of trouble stringing this racquet. Particularly the crosses. Because there is an even number of grommets at the base of the racquet head, you have to string the crosses from base to top of the head which is leading to some messed up crosses. How are you guys stringing this racquet?
@likeabbas, There is eight holes at the base of this racquet head (or the bridge area). This means you need to feed the initial main strings from the top of the head, towards the throat. The mains will tie-off at the top of the racquet head. If there is six holes at the base of the racquet, then you feed the initial main strings from the base, toward the top of the head. Hopefully this helps you to string the racquet properly. Furthermore Yonex recommends you to string their racquets using the two-piece (four knot) method. Troy, TW
Hi TW, Im just wondering, what is the difference between an all court player vs agg. baseliner or counterpuncher? it seems like all of you play testers are proficient on all parts of the court!
@Matthew King, Those refer to our style of play and how we win points. An aggressive baseliner tries to dictate and win the point in an offensive manner whereas a counterpuncher is going to try and get every ball back and wait for their opponent to miss. It has nothing to do with levels of play but more the style of how you like to play and win points! Hope that helps! Michelle, TW
@jakob olesen, The Textreme Tour 100P has a bit more power, and is more comfortable. This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more control, and comfort is pretty good as well. Troy, TW
In your opinion, what string would be a good option for this racket? I would like to know since I use this yonex but I do not know what string to choose, your opinions would be very helpful
I played the Duel G 310 twice, it has much more power than my graphene prestige pro. How about sweet zone comparing to Duel G 310 and my prestige? I find out realy small in prestige pro.
@Jose S.A., The 310, and 330 VCORE Pro 97 racquets are the same frame mold, and made with the same materials/technology. The heavier version will feel a bit more solid on contact, due to the extra 20 grams built into the racquet, but at the same time not quite as easy to generate racquet-head speed. Troy, TW
Hi, I am playing a Wilson Pro Staff 97 (2016) 2g of lead at 3/9. Is the VCORE 97 remarkably more comfortable, since I am suffering from arm issues? Is the power level a lot lower, as you mentioned previously?
I find this one a bit more comfortable, and the power levels are pretty similar. If you want even more comfort, I would consider the Prince Phantom Pro 100. The more flexible racquets tend to offer more comfort, but they also add more control, or less free power. Troy, TW
@@MrMSS22, If you are willing to hold off for more racquet releases, towards the beginning of 2020, Prince might be making a Phantom with a slightly smaller headsize....Troy, TW
@John B, There is more control and feel with this VCORE Pro 97 (310). It also maneuvers a bit easier with a lower swingweight. The Blade 98 16x19 CV has some added power, plow through, and feels more dampened, or muted. Troy, TW
Hi John B, i really like the solid feel the Wilson Blade 98CV has. After using a Yonex Ezone, it just felt flimsy compared to the Blade. Did you end up using the VCORE Pro? How did it go?
Hello TW do you recommend this racquet if you are around a 4.o ranking player who want's a control racquet? Which other racquet's do you recommend for me? wan't a Control/medium Control racquet weight around 310 maximum 315 (maybe 310 preferably might not be able to handle 315). No spin racquet but medium Control or strong Control. Thanks!
@Magnus Thelander, This racquet is a good option for control, and the weight you are looking for. I would also consider the Wilson Blade 98 18x20, Head Graphene 360 Speed Pro, Tecnifibre ATP TFight 305 XTC, Prince Textreme Tour 100P, and Babolat Pure Strike 98 18x20. Troy, TW
Sounds like the most similar to the original red VCore 310. The G and duel G were way too soft and low powered. Thought there would be more comments about the different string pattern for potentially spin. Will have to try this one eventually if I ever need to replace my original red ones. 95D closest to this one. But both racquets superior to the AI/DR and SV 98’s.
I was hoping for some comparisons to the dr98+ that you guys rated so highly. A couple of you mentioned switching to the dr98+. How does this one compare?
@27439, This racquet has a lower-powered response, providing more control and feel on the ball. The DR98+ packs a good amount of power, and is less maneuverable from the added length/increased swingweight. Both racquets are spin friendly, but this VCORE Pro 310, is easier to whip through contact for more racquet-head speed. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse I’m sorry for being confused, but how can it be both lower powered, and easier to whip thru the zone?? Wouldn’t head speed contribute to increased power?
Hi TW. Thanks your reviews!! I used Babolat Pure Aero 300g RPM Blast 55lb. Now, I change a Yonex Vcore Pro 310. I am a baseliner, and i like power-ful top spin shot. Please recommend strings and tension. Thanks~
Hey! How big is the difference between the pro 97 and the new 2018 vcore 98. I play tested the 98 yesterday and really like it but thought a tad more control touch and weight would be good and pro 97 seems like it. I don't want a terribly low power racquet tho, looking for more of a tweener. Like a blade 18*20 with a tad more spin and softness. Thanx
@Robert świstelnicki, The VCORE Pro 97 (310) is more control oriented, flexible, and has more response/feel compared to the VCORE 98. I wouldn't refer to the VCORE Pro 97 as a tweener, but it does have a tad more spin and softness compared to the Blade 98 18x20. I think it could definitely be a good choice for what you're looking for. Troy, TW
@Black True, The VCORE 98 has a little bit of a softer string bed, a little less control than the Pro 97. The access to spin felt fairly similar. We found the VCORE 98 to be a bit more powerful. Stay tuned for our full review of the VCORE racquets next week! Michelle, TW
i have used yonex tour G 310(the orange one) for two years..great stick..but that one had some maneuverability issues especially when you run in towards the net and try to hit a winner...also i had to add weight at 3 and 9 to get more plow through because the racket was very head light and then the maneuverability problems increased so i had to remove the weights. I have recently used 2013 blade 93 18x20 and 2015 blade 98 18x20...great sticks to hit winners but bad on defense and slices (at least for me) ...currently using wilson burn fst 95 and love the control , fast maneuverability and spin of that racket and i am thinking to get one or two different brand rackets in 95 head size and 16x19. 95 and around 12 oz weight seems to work good for me. so my question how is the maneuverability on this new yonex vcore pro 310 or 330 since i want to go back to 16X19 pattern. Also, prince textreme tour 95 is on the radar too. My game is more of a 4.5 aggressive baseliner who serves at 110 mph on average and who doesn't come much to net. Please advice.
@Chirag, On paper, the two racquets (Tour G 310 & VCORE Pro 97 310), have the same average swingweight, and balance. I would then assume maneuverability to be identical. That being said, one of our downsides for the Tour G 310 review, was that is was a bit cumbersome. Most of us thought that VCORE Pro 97 310 was pretty maneuverable, when we reviewed it. The Prince Textreme Tour 95 could be a good option for you, and I found it to maneuver pretty easy; although I am currently using the VCORE Pro 97 (330). Another one I would consider, is the Tecnifibre TFight DC 315 Ltd. (16x19). It has great control, and is ultra maneuverable, with a sub-310 swingweight. The Dunlop CX 200 Tour 16x19, set to release January-2019, could be a good fit for you as well, although we haven't started testing it quite yet. Troy, TW
Hello TW! I currently play with Prince textreme tour 100p or Textreme warrior 100, depending on the day! Is this a good racquet to upgrade to? Which are the advantages or disadvantages ? Thanks!
The Warrior 100 offers the easiest access to power, and spin. The Tour 100P offers a bit more control, feel, and plow. This VCORE Pro 97 (310) offers more control, precision, and feel compared to those racquets, but not quite as easy of power. Troy, TW
Hi TW, would this play and feel similar to the red vcore pro 97 310? How can u compare them pls. I see difference only in string pattern. Also pls advise on stability and depth if u play against big hitters. Thanks TW
@ahmed ashraf, It has been quite a while since we hit the VCORE Tour 97 (310g). That being said, from our recollections the VCORE Tour 97 310g possesses a slightly firmer feel, and the ball comes off the racquet with a bit more pop, or power. With this VCORE Pro 97 (310), we really enjoyed the feel, and responsiveness. We found this VCORE Pro 97 (310) to have a bit more plush feel. Maneuverability is very similar between the two racquets, and we give the slight edge in spin potential to the VCORE Pro 97 (310), with its 16x19 string pattern. Troy, TW
Amazing review! Off topic question: Would Luxilon ALU Power Rough string play well with the Pro Staff 97? If not, which string do you recommend? In your racquet review you mentioned the Pro Staff 97 lacked a bit of control, so what string would compensate for that? Great review! And sorry for the off topic question. 😀👍
It's a good string with good spin, it really depends on the player cause some might hit harder than others. All based on what you feel, make sure to do your research before you buy
@blaugrana 912, The ALU Power Rough could be a good option for you in that racquet. Compared to other co-poly strings, the ALU Rough has a livelier response. If you are accustomed to poly strings, something like Solinco Hyper-G, Luxilon 4G Soft, or Head Hawk would provide a more controlled response, compared to ALU Power Rough. Troy, TW
String recommendations for this racquet? I have been using Diadem Evolution tennis strings for a little while now and when I play in matches it doesn’t give me that crisp feel that I want. I’m planning on using Diadem Solstice since I’ve heard it give more power and spin but what would you guys prefer?
@abraham lawyer, The Solstice Pro will provide you with a crisper feel, compared to Evolution, but not necessarily more power. The Solstice Pro will provide more control, and spin, which will allow you to confidently swing faster, thus generating more power that way. We enjoy strings like Volkl Cyclone, Solinco Tour Bite, and Head Sonic Pro Edge in the VCORE Pro 97. These strings have a more crisp feel compared to a string like Evolution, but are primarily based on control, and spin. Troy, TW
@Tennis Warehouse, I have been using this racket for few months now and i have restrung it couple of times with Solinco Hyper G. I have been experiencing weird pop (more like ping) with little vibration (on handler). Can you please tell me if its the racket or string issue?
Hard to say for certain. What tension didi you try, and do you use a vibration dampener? Most of the time with a full bed of poly, and no dampener it will give off a very "pingy" type of sound, and that is why I use a dampener. Troy, TW
I'm currently demoing this and the strings in this are yonex polytour spin G 1.25 in mains and prince topspin in crosses, loving the spin and control, was wondering what other string set ups would give me the same spin but slightly more power, also is there a multifilament equivalent for less arm trouble? Would still use this set up but wonder what other set ups are similar. Thanks Steve
@Steven Howie, As far as multifilaments go, some of our highest rated for spin potential are Wilson NXT Duramax, Head Velocity MLT, and Tecnifibre Multifeel. I would also consider Gosen AK Pro CX, and Gosen AK Control, which are somewhat in between a multi, and synthetic gut (solid core). For hybrids, you could try the poly tour spin G, and one of these multifilaments, or Gosen strings, but not sure if they will add much power compared to your current set-up, unless you drop the tension slightly. Wilson Revolve is another good option for a co-poly in hybrids, as it has good spin potential, and a smooth surface. A natural gut hybrid will likely add some power, compared to your current set-up, but can be a bit pricey. Dropping tension can add some power, as well as adding a bit of weight at the tip of the racquet. Hope that helps. Troy, TW
Hi! as a 3 club player wondering pros of this new yonex while comparing to duel g97 310g which is my current racquet. I am playing with it since 6 months and want to decide whether to upgrade it or wait. hoping to hear from you thanks inadvance
@cempardo27, This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a slightly firmer, and crisper feel on contact. Not to be mistaken as stiffer racquet, that is uncomfortable. You will also notice just a bit more grip on the ball, and spin-friendliness. Your Duel G 97 310g has a slightly more plush, and dampened feel on contact. We also found just a bit more control, from the 16x20 string pattern of your racquet. We really enjoyed both versions, just some slight differences in the feel. Troy, TW
@Disc United Trickshots, This VCORE Pro 310 provides a bit more control. The slightly thinner beam helps with ball feel and response, in my opinion. The Pro Staff 97 provides a bit easier access to power. Troy, TW
Both are going to be more comfortable than the VCORE 98. I would give the slight edge to the VCORE 95 as it is a bit more flexible, but both should give you good comfort. Troy, TW
Hi... I use vcore pro 97 310g about 3 hours, and I use full bed of syinthetic gut at 60 lb string tension, i get the good control of the ball but lack of power... So what tension or recommended string that i have to use for a power? Am i could change the type of string or a tension? Please reply.... *note: before i use yonex vcore pro 97 310, i was use wilson clash 100 pro/tour 310g
I would probably try going down with a synthetic gut closer to 55 pounds. That said, you might even consider a hybrid string, with a poly in the mains, and a syn gut or multi in the crosses. With that I would go about 53 pounds. Troy, TW
@Ignozi, Just a preference in weight, and maneuverability. Some players find that the 330 gram version is a bit too cumbersome on certain shots. There is a 13 point difference in the average swingweight, which makes a significant difference in maneuverability. I prefer heftier racquets, and the 330 plays just fine. Troy, TW
@Kazunobu Tani, Yes, this is a great racquet to switch to from the RD Ti 80 Lite. The specs lineup very well, and we really enjoy the feel of these VCORE Pro 97 racquets on contact. Troy, TW
@Johnny Heckler, This racquet is better for control, feel, and comfort. The SV 98 provides easier acces to power, and spin, with a firm/modern feel on contact. A demo of the two racquets is a good idea, if possible. Troy, TW
@Velmir Prpic, Each review is subjective as there might be different playtesters and different styles of play, etc. between the two playtests. TW Staff
I played with the VC pro 310 and the Vcore SV 98 side by side in a tennis match -- switching back and forth. The Vcore 98 had a hybrid ( sheep in the crosses and Ytex hexagon x in the mains ( 52 and 54 lbs.) the VCore pro 310 had full bed of blackbear poly 18 gauge at 52 lbs. The VC 98 was very very muted even with the hybrid set up. I just felt like I couldn't feel the ball at all. I had no idea what was happening when I hit the ball. No connection to the ball. The Vcore pro felt so much better -- natural and so connected to every shot -- The feedback was amazing even with a full bed of poly. I kept going back to the VCore pro. No way I could settle on the 98 when put up next to the vcore pro on the same court.
@Borya Nitida, We are hoping to have these demos available soon. Please check back on our website, or contact our racquet expert line (1-800-799-9230). If I find an exact date I will update you here. Troy, TW
I wanted to switch to either this or the duel g version, but it looks like you guys don't offer the duel G for demos anymore :( . Which one would you recommend? I currently play with a prestige graphene pro but its been giving me major shoulder problems, so I was looking for something with that same control and stability, but something more plush, light weight, and spin friendly. I was also considering the Ezone Dr 98 which I've hit with before and loved, and the 2015 Blade 98s, which I also like. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)
@Lailaa Bashir, Both the VCORE Pro 97 310, and Duel G 97 310 are good options. Of the two, the Duel G 97 310 has a slightly more plush feel. Both the EZONE DR 98, and Blade 98S provide a bit more power, compared to the VCORE 97 310 racquets. All of these racquets provide good comfort. The VCORE 97 310 racquets have the most control, the DR 98 has a bit more power and modern feel, and the Blade 98S stands out, due to the 18x16 string pattern (providing easy access to spin, and a lively string-bed). Troy, TW
Looks like I'm getting the Ai 98 to start just because I've found some @ a good price and from your reviews, it's seems only marginally different and even softer then the dr 98 (which would be amazing for my shoulder). In the future I do plan grabbing the Duel G 97 just because I like how control oriented racquets feel. Thanks so much for the feedback :)
@Lailaa Bashir, If you enjoyed hitting with the DR 98, the Ai 98 should be a good fit for you. We found it to feel a bit more plush, or dampened, compared to the DR 98, but both have good comfort. Good luck in the racquet search. Troy, TW
@Ajin, I find this VCORE Pro 97 (310) to have better control, and a more responsive feel. The Pro Staff 97 2015 packs a bit more power, and little more plow through on contact. Troy, TW
@Christoffer Rokstad, This has more control than both the DR 98, and DR 100. This racquet has a thinner/more flexible beam throughout the frame creating a more controlled response. I also found these VCORE Pro 97 racquets to have better feel on the ball. The DR 98 has easier access to power and spin, whereas the DR 100 packs even more power and spin. The comfort is the best with this VCORE Pro 97, DR 98 second, and DR 100 third for comfort. Troy, TW
@Diamonddog, Not at this time, however it should play similar to the 310 version, it will be just a bit easier to swing. We did however review the VCORE Pro 100 (300g): th-cam.com/video/099KdJdcgS8/w-d-xo.html Michelle, TW
Hello Tw team! I play with a L3 grip size on a Prince and a Wilson racquet. Unfortunately, i can find this Yonex only at L2. Should I try it or is it a big difference? Thank you
@Lotus, We really enjoy Solinco Hyper-G 16L. I like the tension at about 47 pounds, but some of our other playtesters prefer it at about 52 pounds, as the tension can vary with player preference. If you have experienced arm pain, and want more comfort, you could go with a hybrid, or a multifilament. Troy, TW
I am an intermediate and a Baseliner/Counter-puncher type player. Currently using the Volkl v-sense 8 @315 and Volkl cyclone as a string setup. Considering to buy this (Vcore pro 97 from Yonex) racquet in the near future and for the upcoming college tennis season. But, I am still undecided which string I should be going with. I prefer any string/brand with good durability, power, control, a bit of spin, and a bit of feel/stability. Basically, I prefer a solid string that will be effective in all department for my game style. I know that it's difficult to find a string that will match every department of what I would prefer for my game, but can anyone recommend me strings which you may have crossed/recognized or at least similar strings which may as well fit my game style. Thanks a lot :)
@SHADMAN MUNSHI, Volkl Cyclone is a good option, and one of my favorites to use in my Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (330). I might suggest dropping the tension by a couple of pounds compared to your current Volkl V-Sense 8 315, as it has a slightly smaller headsize, and more control. We have also tried, and liked Solinco Hyper-G, and Solnco Tour Bite. If you think that you might want to try a softer co-poly, I would consider ISOSPEED Cream, or YTex Quadro Twist. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Looking to try a different sting this time. I also found some other great strings at TW Websites: Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable, RS Lyon 17, Luxilon Alu power, and Kirschbaum pro line evolution. Do you think the Solinco Hyper-G or the Ytex Quadro Twist would perform better over the other 4 strings I mentioned? I already tried the Volkl Cyclone and the Solinco Revolution but now I want to know which strings (2 best strings) out of the 6 strings would outperform both Volkl Cyclone and Solinco Revolution. The reason I am asking is, that I want to take my game to the next level although these strings which I have used earlier turned out to be just fine. Just want to try new strings out and experiment strings to better match my game style. Hope I will find the right string before the season :)
@bluewaterhorizon, If you want to stick with an extended length, and high swingweight racquet, the VCORE 98+ is very nice. The VCORE Pro 97 will offer more control, and feel. The 310 will be very maneuverable, the 330 packs some good heft. Troy, TW
This might sound silly but how can you tell which racket is the 310 vs 330? I can’t see the weight on the racket itself. I know the 290 has a white grip. Thx
The weight is listed on the outside of the frame, right above the yoke, about the 5 and 7 o'clock location, on one side. You can also check right above the grip on the side of the frame, where the grip size is listed, the 330 will shoe "HG", and the 310 will show "G". Troy, TW
@Sanjay Gupta, This Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more comfort, and a bit more feel, coming from a slightly thinner beam. Spin is easier to generate with this racquet as well, as it is more maneuverable. The RF97A packs more power, and a has a bit bigger sweet-spot. Troy, TW
@TMH Studio, The Pure Strike 98 16x19, with its thicker beam profile, and higher stiffness rating, provides easier access to power. It is also a bit more spin-friendly, has a firmer feel, and a bit more plow-through on contact. This VCORE Pro 310 has better control, and feel on the ball. It also provides better arm comfort, and has a faster feel through the air with a bit lower swingweight, and thinner beam. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse hi Troy. I have a little bit issue with elbow. So i prefer arm friendly and muted feel. Which one of these is more suitable for me? I'm using Pure Drive 300g 2018 at the moment. Thanks.
@TMH Studio, The Pure Strike 98 16x19 will provide a bit more comfort compared to your Pure Drive, and the VCORE Pro 97 310 will provide more comfort than the Pure Strike 98 16x19. If you want a racquet with a lot of comfort, I would consider the Prince Phantom Pro 100, or Phantom Pro 100P. These racquets have an extremely comfortable feel, but they are lower in power compared to racquets like the Pure Drive and Pure Strike. The Yonex EZONE 98, and Prince Textreme Beast 98 are some good options for some added comfort over the Pure Drive, without as much of a drop in power, compared to the Prince Phantom racquets. Troy, TW
Actually I'm a big fan of Babolat and a little bit of Yonex. Look like I prefer Comfort - Control - Power Racquet. So in this case. Does Pure Strike suit me best? Cause I heard that Racket is very All Round with Comfort - Control with Spin and Power. Of course not as much power as Pure Drive right? Thanks.
@TMH Studio, The Pure Strike 98 16x19, is more comfortable than the Pure Drive, but I wouln't go as far to say that is a high comfort level racquet, compared to all the racquets we sell. Likely the most comfort oriented racquet that Babolat has is the Pure Strike VS Tour, although it is pretty low-powered. Typically the more comfort-oriented racquets are less powerful, due to the flex of the frame. The Pure Strike 98 16x19 might be a good option for you, it just depends on how sensitive your arm is to the stiffness of the racquet. It also has much to do with the string, you choose. If you are having elbow pain, you are likely going to want to use a multifilament string. Troy, TW
hi TW which string do you advise with this v core pro97. What do you think about poly tour strike or alu power ? i play currently with razor code, but maybe lack of power...
@Don Lam, This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a bit easier maneuverability, provides a slightly bigger sweet-spot, and we also found it to have better responsiveness/feel, compared to the Head Graphene Touch Prestige Pro. The Prestige Pro packs a bit more mass, and stability. We also found good dampening, from the Graphene Touch, which helped with comfort. Troy, TW
@Damiano Tennis, I have been going full co-poly, such as Solinco Hyper-G 16L, or Signum Pro Yellow Jacket 17L, at about 48 pounds. That being said, a hybrid with natural gut in the mains, and co-poly in the crosses plays great. I have tried Babolat Tonic+ in the mains, with Luxilon 4G in the crosses, at 54/51 pounds, and it was likely the best feel that I have tried. Troy, TW
@Damiano Tennis, If you are used to the 55 pound tension, I would stick with it. Hyper-G holds tension better than RPM Blast, so you could likely string it a bit looser, but the same tension as your RPM Blast should be fine. Troy, TW
@thomas drz, Although the Phantom Pro 100P is the more flexible frame, with the higher swingweight I felt like it plowed through the ball easier, and provided me easier depth on my shots. I would give the edge in power to the Phantom Pro 100P. The (330) version of the VCORE Pro 97 packs more power than the Phantom Pro 100P, with that added mass/swingweight. Troy, TW
@Michelangelo Marani, That string, and tension sounds good. I prefer the tension at about 22 kg, but some of the other playtesters would prefer a tension around 24 kg. It is strongly based on personal preference. Troy, TW
@Michelangelo Marani, Yes, for some added power, weight at the top of the hoop will help. Just make sure to start with small increments, until it feels right to you. Maybe a couple, 1-2 inch strips, is a good start. Troy, TW
@Patrick Leung, Based on my preferences of tension, I would go with 53 pounds for the VS Gut mains, and 50 pounds for the ALU Power crosses. Some may prefer to go higher or lower tension overall, based on personal preference, but I would recommend keeping a two-to-four pound difference between the mains and crosses (always higher with the natural gut). Troy, TW
Hey Tw I am using head graphene touch speed mp . But I want to switch , so which racket should fit me , the ezone line of rackets or the vcore pro . I have played with vcore pro
@Shivansh Agarwal, The EZONE line will be closer to the blend of power/control from the Head Speed line. The EZONE 98 would be a good transition from the Head Speed MP. If you want to add some control and feel compared to your Speed MP, then I would consider the VCORE Pro 97. Troy, TW
@Johnathan J, It has been quite a while since we hit the VCORE Tour 97 (310g). Troy, TW
@Sanjay Gupta, Yes, we are allowed to ship Yonex Racquets to India. You can also check with Tennis Warehouse Europe, and compare shipping options, www.tenniswarehouse-europe.com/CustService/. Troy, TW
Hi, Sean in the written TW racquet review said "but my favorite is my weighted up VCORE Pro 97 (310), which weighs about 320 grams". Would you pls ask him to give us the details. Thanks in advance.
@Yannis Chouzouris, Here is a response that Sean posted on our message boards a while back: "We put 3 grams of TW tungsten tape at 3 and 9 o'clock (4, 3-inch strips total, 2 on each side). After that, we counterbalanced the weight with the same weight of tungsten putty and cotton. Overall, with a dampener, the weight came in at about 12.1 ounces with a 325 swingweight and 9 points HL." Since then, I believe he has reverted back to playing the racquet in stock form. Troy, TW
@Jansen Lee, Chris touches on some differences during his portion of the video @4:13. This update has a slightly firmer and crisper feel, which I thought added just a bit more pop on the ball. The 16x19 pattern adds just a tad more spin potential. The Duel G 97 has a slightly more flexible, and classic response. There aren't huge differences, as it mostly comes down to the feel on contact. Troy, TW
HI @tenniswarehouse I have used the pure strike 16X19 (98) and at the time testing the pure strike VS. I have to say that I found both racquets to be good but with stiff feeling . With both racquets I use solinco revolution string at 53 pounds (maybe I should change the use of this string) since I had some arm issues with. My questions are... Should I give this racquet a try? how this racquet compares to my choices? I'm looking for comfort/feel and control but without loosing some power. I have also considered to try the wilson ultra tour... What do you think? Thanks!
@Juan Ignacio Carlin, This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has good comfort on the arms, and will have a similar power level compared to the Pure Strike VS. With a racquet like this, as it is primarily control, I would drop the tension on a co-poly string like Solinco Revolution to about 50 pounds. The Ultra Tour is a comfortable racquet as well, but is a bit lower powered. I would also consider the Yonex EZONE 98 (305g), which will be somewhat in between the Pure Strike 98 16x19, and the VCORE Pro 97 (310). Troy, TW
Both racquets offer a lot of control, and feel. This VCORE Pro 97 (310) is more spin friendly, and offers a bit more power. The Ultra Tour yields a lower launch angles, and offers a bit more control. Troy, TW
@Mae B, The VCORE Pro 97 (310) has firmer, and crisper response, with some added control compared to the Prince Phantom Pro 100P. The VCORE Pro 97 (310) is easier to maneuver, given the lower swingweight. The Phantom Pro 100P has a softer, more plush response, and has a bit bigger sweet-spot compared to the VCORE Pro 97 (310). The Phantom Pro 100P, with its higher swingweight, packs some added plow-through on the ball. Spin potential is good with both racquets, but we would give the slight edge to the Phantom Pro 100P. Troy, TW
I switched from VCORE Tour G to this racket. I love this new model.
"I'm not Stan The Man more Mark The Boy." HA! Can relate.
This looks like such a great racquet. I'd love a Yonex but can't afford a new one at the moment. Thanks for your awesome reviews!
Consdering this racquet is also in the spectrum of Wilson Prostaff 97 like. I will definitely choose this one over prostaff 97.
I was using the Duel G 97 310 and I went ahead and bought this one. I'm getting much more spin out of it, and my serve has improve unexpectedly. However, I'm still shanking some shots very long when I do shank them. I think that will get better overtime as I adjust to this racquet. Overall, it was a good upgrade for me
Hello TW ,I hope I'm not "to late to the party" of asking some questions 😅
I just ordered this racket and since I was always playing with Yonex and like to mix new and vintage models, I was wondering how this racket compares to some older classic models like the Yonex Vcore 98d (305g) and Rds 002 (300g)? In all aspects (power, spin, net play/serves...)
And just one more question, I used the Luxilon Original 1.30 string and the Rpm Blast on my previous rackets and with the tension of 23kg..so are these strings and tension also a good choice for this racket or what do you guys recommend?
Thanks!
Kind regards from Croatia,
Mateo
Hannah is so pretty 😂😂😂
agreed
😍😍😍😍😍
Brilliant frame and my current racquet of choice. I also have a 290 gms version of the same and would like to convert that one to a spec similar to the 310 version. Can you guide me with the weight distribution (weight to be added to the hoop and handle) and position (on the hoop)? I will be using babolat balancer tungsten strips.
@Praful Asher,
I believe each one of those weight strips is 4 inches long.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Sounds good! Thanks for the help!
Hi TW,
Thanks you all, the reviews are awesome!
@Leo Ser,
When switching over to Yonex, from Wilson, I stayed in the same grip size #3 (4 3/8).
Troy, TW
Thank you, Troy!!!
And what about the lack of flare in the butt cap? Did you do something to compensate?
@Leo Ser,
I have not.
Dang, Hannah is way cute
I believe Hannah and TW legend Andy Gerst are an item, but this is about tennis racquets..no?..:)
yes with a great rack
😍😍😍
Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) vs RADICAL HEAD GRAPHENE TOUCH PRO, which of the two puts more ball weight?
Which of the two has more firmness, stability?
Which of the two has more comfort?
Which of the two has more control?
@Rodrigo Lana,
The Radical Pro will have more behind the ball as it has a higher swingweight, so if you can swing it effectively, you will have more mass behind the ball. They are the same weight and have essentially similar stiffness ratings with the VCORE Pro 97 being a tiny bit softer and more comfortable. Both will have similar levels of control.
Michelle, TW
Great Review as always, how would you compare this racket to the current head Speed pro?
This one has more control, and a more responsive feel from its thinner beam. The 360 Speed Pro packs more power, and has a bit larger sweet-spot. I would give the edge in spin potential to this VCORE Pro 97 310. Troy, TW
Thx
Just bought one and I really loved this racket; however, I'm thinking of putting a leather grip on it as I usually do. if I put the leather grip would you recommend adding some weight to the hoop and if you do, where?
@Andree Kahhat Sullivan,
It is not necessary.
Troy, TW
I am interested in buying this racket but want to read the written review first, any idea when that will be out? Thanks!
@Marco Rossi,
We are hoping it will be done soon! We have had our hands full down at BNP and are hoping to get those Yonex reviews out as soon as we can.
Thanks for your patience,
Michelle, TW
I love the paint job of the old one better but this one is sleek and good looking as well
@SkyreeXScalabar,
In hand, the paint job on this update looks pretty sick! :)
Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse I especially like the matte feeling compare to the smoothness of the duel g. I used to have a Duel G 310 4 1/8 but changed to a Vcore Pro 280 4 0/8 with leather grip
Hi TW how would you guys compare to this racket and PRO STAFF 97 2016 315 without cv?
@Black True,
The Wilson Pro Staff 97 2016 (non-CV) packs a bit more power, and plow-through. This Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a bit better control, feel, and is easier to maneuver.
Troy, TW
Will I be expecting a huge change if I were to switch to this from the textreme tour 100p? Similar specs with only a slightly smaller head size for the yonex.
@Faeez Haiqal,
The way the racquets swings, maneuverability factors, should allow for an easy transition.
Troy, TW
Hey Chris, Troy and Michelle,
what do you find of the new Yonex Polytour Strike. I love to hear your opinion on that string.
Yours,
Damiano
@Damiano Tennis,
Of the three of us, Chris has had the chance to hit with the Poly Tour Strike the most.
@Boune Bie,
The three different weights, of the VCORE Pro 97 are constructed with the same material, and technologies.
Troy, TW
They're not supposed to be the exact same, different balance and polarization and stiffnesses.
how does Pro 97 310g compare the the older versions of this model (VCORE 310)
VCORE : tour 97, Tour G 97, Tour F 97, Duel G 97 ? ( i hope these are in order and i haven't missed one)
which is the best version.
Troy, TW
Thanks!
Yonex poly tour tough review???
Here is my question, between :
-Head prestige pro touch
-Wilson pro staff 97 CV
-Yonex V Core pro 97
Wich is the best for power and feel and manoeuvrability? And both of them have no vibration strings even with polyester and off center shots ? (signum pro polyplasma 1.23, my favorite strings, I have 300m left !!)
I'm scared to loose a lot of power with this yonex because 317 swingweight and balance (31 unstrung) seems very low to generate power.
@Orguange,
When it comes to feel and maneuverability, the VCORE Pro 97 (310) would be our pick.
@Orguange,
I hope it is a good fit for your game, and good luck in the search.
Troy, TW
Any word on when this version of the racquet might become available to demo? I see a few of the other version are currently available (the 330g etc...) but I would love to demo this racquet. Thank you!

I demoed this racket and loved it.. I think the demo was yonex poly tour pro at 51 lb. too underpowered for my tastes. Was thinking 46 lbs. any reccomendation for a livelier poly? Maybe Tourna Grit as a cheap option
@Grant Williams,
A lower tension for a co-poly should work well for you.
@@30grantw,
Lowering the tension will add a bit of life to your string bed, and create a slightly higher launch angle, the lower you go with it.
Great review. How would this racket compare to the SV95? comfort, power and control wise? Thanks TW!
@Leonardo Ramirez,
The SV 95 packs a bit more pop, and although the beam is barely thicker than the VCORE Pro 97, it plays with a slightly more modern feel.
Thanks.
@Leonardo Ramirez,
Your string set-up is about as good as it gets.

Considering a change from the old lime dr 98, looking a bit less flex in the throat...is this the answer?
I'm new to stringing, and I'm having a lot of trouble stringing this racquet. Particularly the crosses. Because there is an even number of grommets at the base of the racquet head, you have to string the crosses from base to top of the head which is leading to some messed up crosses. How are you guys stringing this racquet?
@likeabbas,
There is eight holes at the base of this racquet head (or the bridge area).
@Matthew King,
Those refer to our style of play and how we win points. An aggressive baseliner tries to dictate and win the point in an offensive manner whereas a counterpuncher is going to try and get every ball back and wait for their opponent to miss. It has nothing to do with levels of play but more the style of how you like to play and win points! Hope that helps!
Michelle, TW
Hi, can you compare this vs Prince Tex Tour 100p - comfort, control and power -Thanks
@jakob olesen,
The Textreme Tour 100P has a bit more power, and is more comfortable. This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more control, and comfort is pretty good as well.
Troy, TW
In your opinion, what string would be a good option for this racket? I would like to know since I use this yonex but I do not know what string to choose, your opinions would be very helpful
@Jorge MM,
We recommend going with a softer co-poly string, such as Yonex Poly Tour Pro, Polyfibre TCS, or Volkl V-Star.
Troy, TW
I'm using Volkl Cyclone Tour in cross and Head Velocity MLT mains
I played the Duel G 310 twice, it has much more power than my graphene prestige pro. How about sweet zone comparing to Duel G 310 and my prestige? I find out realy small in prestige pro.
Compare to Vcore Pro 330grm, what is main difference?, apart from weight and balance. Any difference in materials?, construction?
@Jose S.A.,
The 310, and 330 VCORE Pro 97 racquets are the same frame mold, and made with the same materials/technology. The heavier version will feel a bit more solid on contact, due to the extra 20 grams built into the racquet, but at the same time not quite as easy to generate racquet-head speed.
Troy, TW
Thanks Troy.....320grm would be ideal, just thinking about getting the 310g and add some weight.
Troy, TW
Even though I prefer smaller racquets, that sounds like a very interesting pick! Thanks for the advice!
@@MrMSS22,
If you are willing to hold off for more racquet releases, towards the beginning of 2020, Prince might be making a Phantom with a slightly smaller headsize....Troy, TW
how would you compare this racquet to the Wilson Blade 98 16 x 19 CV? Thanks!
@John B,
There is more control and feel with this VCORE Pro 97 (310).
Thanks!
@Magnus Thelander,
This racquet is a good option for control, and the weight you are looking for.
@27439,
This racquet has a lower-powered response, providing more control and feel on the ball. The DR98+ packs a good amount of power, and is less maneuverable from the added length/increased swingweight. Both racquets are spin friendly, but this VCORE Pro 310, is easier to whip through contact for more racquet-head speed.
Troy, TW
27439 o
Tennis Warehouse I’m sorry for being confused, but how can it be both lower powered, and easier to whip thru the zone?? Wouldn’t head speed contribute to increased power?
Steven Klurfeld longer racquets take more effort to swing but give more torque, so it takes more effort to whip it.
aligboyakasha I’m using the dr98, but need something with a bit more power, without losing control and comfort...hmmmm
Hi TW.
Thanks your reviews!!
I used Babolat Pure Aero 300g RPM Blast 55lb.
Now, I change a Yonex Vcore Pro 310. I am a baseliner, and i like power-ful top spin shot.
Please recommend strings and tension.
Thanks~
@JinGu Kang,
Two of our favorites would be Volkl Cyclone and Solinco Hyper G -- try them at a similar tension!
Michelle, TW
Thanx
@Robert świstelnicki,
The VCORE Pro 97 (310) is more control oriented, flexible, and has more response/feel compared to the VCORE 98. I wouldn't refer to the VCORE Pro 97 as a tweener, but it does have a tad more spin and softness compared to the Blade 98 18x20. I think it could definitely be a good choice for what you're looking for.
Troy, TW
Thanx
Hi tw how would you guys compare this racket to the new vcore 98 310g(sv’s update)
@Black True,
The VCORE 98 has a little bit of a softer string bed, a little less control than the Pro 97.
Please advice.
also waiting on dunlop cx 200 95 16x19 one...that looks promising too...
@Chirag,
On paper, the two racquets (Tour G 310 & VCORE Pro 97 310), have the same average swingweight, and balance.
Troy, TW
thank you ..will wait till dunlop comes out with demo for 16x19 ..thanks for quick reply Troy..
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks!
Hi TW, would this play and feel similar to the red vcore pro 97 310? How can u compare them pls. I see difference only in string pattern. Also pls advise on stability and depth if u play against big hitters. Thanks TW
@ahmed ashraf,
It has been quite a while since we hit the VCORE Tour 97 (310g).
Off topic question:
Would Luxilon ALU Power Rough string play well with the Pro Staff 97? If not, which string do you recommend? In your racquet review you mentioned the Pro Staff 97 lacked a bit of control, so what string would compensate for that?
Great review! And sorry for the off topic question. 😀👍
It's a good string with good spin, it really depends on the player cause some might hit harder than others. All based on what you feel, make sure to do your research before you buy
@blaugrana 912,
The ALU Power Rough could be a good option for you in that racquet.
@abraham lawyer,
The Solstice Pro will provide you with a crisper feel, compared to Evolution, but not necessarily more power.
Troy, TW
Perfect response! Thanks so much Troy!👏👏🙌
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Tension was 52, 53. I tried dampener and ping went down little bit but not completely. Should i try different strings?
I'm currently demoing this and the strings in this are yonex polytour spin G 1.25 in mains and prince topspin in crosses, loving the spin and control, was wondering what other string set ups would give me the same spin but slightly more power, also is there a multifilament equivalent for less arm trouble? Would still use this set up but wonder what other set ups are similar.
Thanks
Steve
@Steven Howie,
As far as multifilaments go, some of our highest rated for spin potential are Wilson NXT Duramax, Head Velocity MLT, and Tecnifibre Multifeel.

Tennis Warehouse cheers Troy, top bloke, keep up the good work
@Steven howie,
Good luck dialing-in your set-up, and nice racquet choice by the way!

Hi! as a 3 club player wondering pros of this new yonex while comparing to duel g97 310g which is my current racquet. I am playing with it since 6 months and want to decide whether to upgrade it or wait. hoping to hear from you thanks inadvance
@cempardo27,
This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a slightly firmer, and crisper feel on contact.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse thanks for the reply as far as I see not big changes on the new one therefore I will continue with the duel g97 310 gram
Chris' serve looks like Zverev now.
How would this compare to a prostaff 97
@Disc United Trickshots,
This VCORE Pro 310 provides a bit more control. The slightly thinner beam helps with ball feel and response, in my opinion. The Pro Staff 97 provides a bit easier access to power.
Troy, TW
Hey TW, which one is the most arm friendly based on actual experience between VC97 pro & VC95? I am asking because VC98 destroyed my arm :(
Both are going to be more comfortable than the VCORE 98.
Troy, TW
Why would a player go with the 310g version over the 330g one besides a lighter racket? Does this version give benefits that the heavier one lacks?
@Ignozi,
Just a preference in weight, and maneuverability. Some players find that the 330 gram version is a bit too cumbersome on certain shots. There is a 13 point difference in the average swingweight, which makes a significant difference in maneuverability. I prefer heftier racquets, and the 330 plays just fine. Troy, TW
It's easier to add weight than remove it. I added 6 grams of lead to the 310 and it suits me perfectly.
I love my Yonex RDTI 80 Lite and am looking for something similar to it. Would this be a good switch?
@Kazunobu Tani,
Yes, this is a great racquet to switch to from the RD Ti 80 Lite. The specs lineup very well, and we really enjoy the feel of these VCORE Pro 97 racquets on contact.
Troy, TW
Which one is having bigger sweetspot and wrist friendly among this and prince phantom pro 100 and prostaff 97 L?

This or the VCORE SV 98? Need help deciding.....
demo both it's only $20 and you can try out up to 4 rackets, you are the best judge
@Johnny Heckler,
This racquet is better for control, feel, and comfort. The SV 98 provides easier acces to power, and spin, with a firm/modern feel on contact. A demo of the two racquets is a good idea, if possible.
Troy, TW
Then how come in your review about sv 98 and this one, grades are totally opposite
@Velmir Prpic,
Each review is subjective as there might be different playtesters and different styles of play, etc. between the two playtests.
Will it be available for demo anytime soon?

I wanted to switch to either this or the duel g version, but it looks like you guys don't offer the duel G for demos anymore :( . Which one would you recommend? I currently play with a prestige graphene pro but its been giving me major shoulder problems, so I was looking for something with that same control and stability, but something more plush, light weight, and spin friendly. I was also considering the Ezone Dr 98 which I've hit with before and loved, and the 2015 Blade 98s, which I also like. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)
Price is also a factor for me
@Lailaa Bashir,
Both the VCORE Pro 97 310, and Duel G 97 310 are good options.
@Lailaa Bashir,
If you enjoyed hitting with the DR 98, the Ai 98 should be a good fit for you. We found it to feel a bit more plush, or dampened, compared to the DR 98, but both have good comfort. Good luck in the racquet search.

Hannah=like
How is this racket compared to the Wilson PS97 2015?
@Ajin,
I find this VCORE Pro 97 (310) to have better control, and a more responsive feel. The Pro Staff 97 2015 packs a bit more power, and little more plow through on contact.
Troy, TW
I am curious about the white skirt Hannah is wearing. What brand? My wife is very interested in it.
@Jong-hae Lee,
It is the Nike Women's Fall Maria Flex Short, www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage-NWFMFLS.html.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Thank you!
How would you compare this to the Ezone DR 98 or 100?
@Christoffer Rokstad,
This has more control than both the DR 98, and DR 100.
Troy, TW
Hi,

What strings and tension do you recommend for this racket? Semi-western forehand w/ OHBH, hit with a lot of spin.
@Lotus,
We really enjoy Solinco Hyper-G 16L. I like the tension at about 47 pounds, but some of our other playtesters prefer it at about 52 pounds, as the tension can vary with player preference. If you have experienced arm pain, and want more comfort, you could go with a hybrid, or a multifilament.

Thanks Troy, I went with your suggestion. Will let you know how it works out. Cheers!
@Lotus,
Right on! You should be able to rip some heavy shots, with that set-up.

Thanks a lot :)
anyone here to give me any feedback? Thanks :)
@SHADMAN MUNSHI,
Volkl Cyclone is a good option, and one of my favorites to use in my Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (330).

What would you say to compare VC 98+ and VC pro 97 ? I am a DR98+ user and I am looking for a new racket to order on TW.
@bluewaterhorizon,
If you want to stick with an extended length, and high swingweight racquet, the VCORE 98+ is very nice. The VCORE Pro 97 will offer more control, and feel. The 310 will be very maneuverable, the 330 packs some good heft.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse thanks Troy
This might sound silly but how can you tell which racket is the 310 vs 330? I can’t see the weight on the racket itself. I know the 290 has a white grip. Thx
The weight is listed on the outside of the frame, right above the yoke, about the 5 and 7 o'clock location, on one side. You can also check right above the grip on the side of the frame, where the grip size is listed, the 330 will shoe "HG", and the 310 will show "G". Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Troy. great racket. I just put on a leather grip and Lux Rough at 50 lbs. Love it!
Hi guys! How would you compare this racket to the Ezone 98 305g? Is the vcore friendly too? Thanks!
@Guillermo Expósito,
This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more control, and feel. The EZONE 98 (305g) has more power, and is a bit more spin friendly.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Thanks Troy!
comparison with rf 97 autograph 2018 in terms of feel, comfort, spin, power and sweetspot?
@Sanjay Gupta,
This Yonex VCORE Pro 97 (310) has more comfort, and a bit more feel, coming from a slightly thinner beam. Spin is easier to generate with this racquet as well, as it is more maneuverable. The RF97A packs more power, and a has a bit bigger sweet-spot.
Troy, TW
How would you compare the 330g version to Wilson RF97A?
How does this racquet compare to Pure Strike 98 16x19? I'm considering these two racquets. Thanks.
@TMH Studio,
The Pure Strike 98 16x19, with its thicker beam profile, and higher stiffness rating, provides easier access to power.
Thanks.
@TMH Studio,
The Pure Strike 98 16x19 will provide a bit more comfort compared to your Pure Drive, and the VCORE Pro 97 310 will provide more comfort than the Pure Strike 98 16x19.
Thanks.
@TMH Studio,
The Pure Strike 98 16x19, is more comfortable than the Pure Drive, but I wouln't go as far to say that is a high comfort level racquet, compared to all the racquets we sell.
Troy, TW
Hey TW I AM USING A VCORE PRO 290 BUT I NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE POWER IN YONEX . WHICH RACKET IS BEST ???????????
@Shivansh Agarwal,
I would consider the EZONE 98, or the VCORE 98.
Troy, TW
hi TW
which string do you advise with this v core pro97.
What do you think about poly tour strike or alu power ?
i play currently with razor code, but maybe lack of power...
ALU Power is a good choice for a little more power. We also enjoy strings like Solinco Hyper-G, and Volkl Cyclone. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thx troy
and what about yonex poly tour strike? does it match well with the v core pro?
@@philippemusso1092 , yeah but its not going to help with power, very control oriented. Troy, TW
How would this racket compare with the head prestige pro
@Don Lam,
This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has a bit easier maneuverability, provides a slightly bigger sweet-spot, and we also found it to have better responsiveness/feel, compared to the Head Graphene Touch Prestige Pro. The Prestige Pro packs a bit more mass, and stability. We also found good dampening, from the Graphene Touch, which helped with comfort.
Troy, TW
How does this compare to the pure drive
@Ahun Vodela,
This one offers more control, feel, and comfort. The Pure Drive offers easier access to power, spin, and yields a stiffer feel. Troy, TW
Which would be a raquet with similar specs to this one but with a little more stability when volleying?
You could try the Wilson Pro Staff 97, or ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro 315g. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse and how would the prokennex compare to the wilson blade 98 v7 16x19?
@@ggar9623, The PK Tour Pro 315 offers a bit more control, and a more headlight feel. The Blade 98 16x19v7 offers a bit more power, and plow. Troy, TW
Is this racquet stable on off centre hits? My current racauet head graphene touch speed pro is very unstable on off centre hits.
@Sanjay Gupta,
We found this racquet to have a bit better stability on off center contact, compared to the Touch Speed Pro.

Hannah is so hot!
@1StarProductions what kind of crap is that
what for string would you recommend in the Vcore pro 97 ( 333gram, 30.9cm and 315 swingweight unstrung) ?
@Damiano Tennis,
I have been going full co-poly, such as Solinco Hyper-G 16L, or Signum Pro Yellow Jacket 17L, at about 48 pounds. That being said, a hybrid with natural gut in the mains, and co-poly in the crosses plays great. I have tried Babolat Tonic+ in the mains, with Luxilon 4G in the crosses, at 54/51 pounds, and it was likely the best feel that I have tried.
Troy, TW
I normally keep my tension around 55lbs with the Babolat RPM Blast 125. At how much would I string the Solinco Hyper-G 16L at??
@Damiano Tennis,
If you are used to the 55 pound tension, I would stick with it. Hyper-G holds tension better than RPM Blast, so you could likely string it a bit looser, but the same tension as your RPM Blast should be fine.
Troy, TW
Is this racket more powerfull compare to prince phantom pro 100 p?
@thomas drz,
Although the Phantom Pro 100P is the more flexible frame, with the higher swingweight I felt like it plowed through the ball easier, and provided me easier depth on my shots. I would give the edge in power to the Phantom Pro 100P. The (330) version of the VCORE Pro 97 packs more power than the Phantom Pro 100P, with that added mass/swingweight.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse thanks Troy
What do you think about a Luxilon BB Alu Power 1.25 stringing at 22.5 kg on this racquet?
@Michelangelo Marani,
That string, and tension sounds good. I prefer the tension at about 22 kg, but some of the other playtesters would prefer a tension around 24 kg. It is strongly based on personal preference.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse Thanks Troy! Another question: would you recommend adding some weight on the top of the racket to help producing power?
@Michelangelo Marani,
Yes, for some added power, weight at the top of the hoop will help. Just make sure to start with small increments, until it feels right to you. Maybe a couple, 1-2 inch strips, is a good start.
Troy, TW
Which among this n pure strike 16x19, and pure aero gives more spin and sweet spot?
@Sanjay Gupta,
The Pure Aero, provides the easiest access to spin, and has the largest sweet-spot, of those three.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse what about dr 98?
@Sanjay Gupta,
Similar level to the Pure Strike. Pure Aero provides easier access to spin, and larger sweet-spot.
Troy, TW
Hi, Any recommended tension for VS gut main with Alu power cross?
@Patrick Leung,
Based on my preferences of tension, I would go with 53 pounds for the VS Gut mains, and 50 pounds for the ALU Power crosses. Some may prefer to go higher or lower tension overall, based on personal preference, but I would recommend keeping a two-to-four pound difference between the mains and crosses (always higher with the natural gut).

Is This the Wawrinka frame?

Hey Tw I am using head graphene touch speed mp . But I want to switch , so which racket should fit me , the ezone line of rackets or the vcore pro . I have played with vcore pro
@Shivansh Agarwal,
The EZONE line will be closer to the blend of power/control from the Head Speed line. The EZONE 98 would be a good transition from the Head Speed MP. If you want to add some control and feel compared to your Speed MP, then I would consider the VCORE Pro 97.
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse are you talking about the ezone Dr or the normal new green one
@Shivansh Agarwal,
The new EZONE 98, but the EZONE DR 98 isn't far different, just a little more comfortable.

How does this one compare to the vcore tour g 310 grams thanks which one is better and how each feels
@Johnathan J,
It has been quite a while since we hit the VCORE Tour 97 (310g).
Troy, TW
Thanks
What tension u reccomend on this racket with wilson nxt 17
@Riz Momin,
With NXT 17, I would string this racquet at about 55 pounds.

Yes, we are allowed to ship Yonex Racquets to India. You can also check with Tennis Warehouse Europe, and compare shipping options, www.tenniswarehouse-europe.com/CustService/.

Hi, Sean in the written TW racquet review said "but my favorite is my weighted up VCORE Pro 97 (310), which weighs about 320 grams". Would you pls ask him to give us the details. Thanks in advance.
@Yannis Chouzouris,
Here is a response that Sean posted on our message boards a while back:
"We put 3 grams of TW tungsten tape at 3 and 9 o'clock (4, 3-inch strips total, 2 on each side). After that, we counterbalanced the weight with the same weight of tungsten putty and cotton. Overall, with a dampener, the weight came in at about 12.1 ounces with a 325 swingweight and 9 points HL."
Since then, I believe he has reverted back to playing the racquet in stock form.

How does this compare to the vcore duel G
@Jansen Lee,
Chris touches on some differences during his portion of the video @4:13.
Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse ok thank you
HI @tenniswarehouse
I have used the pure strike 16X19 (98) and at the time testing the pure strike VS.
Thanks!
@Juan Ignacio Carlin,
This VCORE Pro 97 (310) has good comfort on the arms, and will have a similar power level compared to the Pure Strike VS.
Troy, TW
Wow
Uhh secret poly proto????
@aligboyakasha,
It was Yonex Poly Tour Strike, but it was before we had started to sell the string.
Troy, TW
Is it a new Solinco String!?
@Mikey Frijoles,
It was a Yonex poly prototype string.
Troy, TW
Добавка pro по всей видимости говорит о том, что каждый сам доводит изделее под себя балансирами. Сразу из коробки играть ракеткой невозможно.
Will the 290g version of this racquet be available at tennis only?
Hi @TW!, how does this compare with the Wilson Ultra Tour?
Both racquets offer a lot of control, and feel. This VCORE Pro 97 (310) is more spin friendly, and offers a bit more power. The Ultra Tour yields a lower launch angles, and offers a bit more control. Troy, TW
yonex vcore pro 97 (310) vs Prince Phantom pro 100P
@Mae B,
The VCORE Pro 97 (310) has firmer, and crisper response, with some added control compared to the Prince Phantom Pro 100P.
Troy, TW
Thank you Troy
