      I love the feeling after animal/primal movements. After years of yoga style stretching i feel i prefer stretch in motion. I just tell myself ill do 15-20min of movement /connection with body time and it usually turns into some kettlebells, bodyweight, jump rope. Im not hard on myself for having easy days, just trying ti stay consistent. But yeah even 15min crawling around on the grass outside in the sun, doing cartwheels with some good beats, i feel so relaxed yet energised after. Oh and definitely agree with the recovering from intense stretching. My weak area or the area i feel the most when pushed is my hips! Particularly external rotation. Maybe cause im a tall lanky dude. Love your content dudes.

    I was 18 when I started getting the worst pain in my life inside my back. I quit all movement waiting for my body to magically heal. I slowly started doing your gentle stretching and mobility follow alongs and yoga with adriene everyday ALL FOR FREE. Just turned 23 & barely have any more pain and stiffness in my back. I love life thanks strength side

      I agree with you, I really think that mooving is the best way to slowly remove a back pain because the blood that is stiff in the muscle can flow. So keep mooving, cause it is crucial for back pain.
      Pd: a physio told me that here in Spain

    Over the years, I've got into the habit of resting in a deep squat position for a total of at least 30 mins a day (starting from barely 5 painful seconds). This, combined with barefoot shoes and toe mobility exercises has transformed my running dramatically. I just don't get injured.
    For context: before reconnecting to these "natural" movements and rescuing my body, 3 different physiotherapist and orthopaedics Told me to stop running for good because my body was "not made for it". I had stress fractures everywhere and was advised to get knee surgery.
    Needless to say, I am now running marathons and most of all enjoy running because my body can do it with joy. After any marathon or run I stay in a deep squat for a few minutes and that is all the stretching I do...and yes, the day after the marathon I am ready to run again and can jump up down the stairs.
    Bottom line: it was not that I "was not made for running". I was just sitting on chairs too much and wearing the wrong shoes. Sit less and squat more!

      I 100% agree with you about the deep squat, I started doing it a few months ago & it’s been a game changer for me at 62. All of my lower body pain is gone, especially knee pain as I’m a cyclist. It’s my main stretch & some days it’s all I do stretch wise & my lower body is at its all time best, I’m convinced it’s the best thing you can do for yourself

    Thanks for sharing the insight of stretching. I am a yoga teacher in my 70+. Started in my 50. More flexible now in my 70+. I also do other sports like Aquafit, boxfit & bootcamp. I stretch everyday even if for 15 mins. It has kept me limber & slim. Recently started Tai chi. Enjoy all your tutorials. Thanks. ❤👍

    24 years old and have had many injuries that have affected my mobility, but I have made more progress in the last 2 months with my health and mobility than I ever by strengthening the muscles with a combination of yoga, traditional stretching and weighted stretching. Holding the stretch and really activating the muscles while doing so has been really helpful! thank you guys for all great vids, keep it up!

    Everyone should be able to hold a deep resting squat, touch their toes without rounding their lower back, and hang on a pullup bar without their lower back arching heavily to compensate. Those 3 things I believe are goals we should all strive for.

    In my 20's and i would spend all day in the gym and playing basketball. I would treat stretch as an afterthought - never doing it right or rushing it. fast forward to my 30's the soreness was too much and I lost the drive to workout and stay active. My feet hurt when running, my thighs and hips from biking, my shoulders and lower back from boxing.... During covid my wife finally coerced my into taking up Yoga. At first every stretch, every bend, felt like a dry hardened rubber band finally expand and it was amazing - 4 years later, I do Yoga every day 30 minutes. I feel better now than i did in my 20's - it helps "talk" to your body, it helps clear your mind of distractions and life issues.

    After getting hit by a car while riding a motorcycle 19+ years ago. I’ve somewhat managed to stay flexible but obviously there’s more to be done. I watch kneesovertoes guy as well. Your channel is spot on for 50+ year old veteran/ex semi-pro football player with chronic pain to include bulging disc. One day at a time! Outstanding channel and character! 🧘🏾‍♂️👊🏾❤️

    I’m in debt to both your and Ben’s channel. This stuff is no joke, I’m in better shape as a whole in my 40s than I was in high school and college.
    That’s with a hernia that I’ll have to have repaired at some point (I find ways to work around it and not irritate it for now), a stubborn ankle that is slightly less mobile than the other, scar tissue from a knee surgery in my 20s and some of that shoulder nonsense from that tech life.
    I went zero drop / barefoot over the last year and a half as well.
    You guys have shown an incredible path forward that is paying major dividends for me. Thanks!

    I combined strength exercises with stretching exercises. I cured my elbows and shoulders by doing the "bridge" exercise. Stretching is really important part of my training process.

    I’ve been doing yoga and other long routines for stretching but to be honest since trying some of your short stretching sequences my body has become a lot more agile and very quickly. I used to push my body to overtrain but made few gains, and it always felt like a chore. Less is more, right?! Funny thing about stretching is, it makes you walk taller and gives you a spring in your step. Stretching is a good way to be more mindful. I’m very grateful for the routines your have shared, so thank you! ❤🤸🏽‍♂️🧘🏽‍♀️

    Kelly Starrett is one of the greatest physios with a ton of knowledge and I'm happy to hear him be highlighted in this video! And I also love that you guys highlighted "using your range of motion often." Too often I see many people stretch and improve their mobility in a specific body part but fail to incorporate exercises after that continue to use that range of motion. This is the true key to maintaining the flexibility gains over the long haul! This was another great video Strength Side Thank you!

    I love this channel so much as you really encapsulate everything I love in terms of movement and your philosophy around that.
    I am 50 this year and have found that a variation in movement practice is a healthy way to live. I run, I do yoga, I lift and i do a lot of mobility and I love it all. I want to be fit for life.

    Thanks guys. You’re doing an awesome job of spreading the movement game to more. I’ve practiced weight training calisthenics Thai Qui and Qui Gung for 40 years. It’s awesome to realise that by taking these different roads I’ve come to age 62 in great shape. We’re in a physical revolution that recognises how amazing our minds and bodies can be through dedication and practice. Yeee ha great to be alive.

    47 here and doing PT after microdiscectomy surgery. Stretching has made such a HUGE difference in my recovery. I wish public school taught kids proper stretching and lifting techniques. Thanks for all you do with these videos brother. God bless

    So many great points in this video.
    Stretching, and every type of exercise, should leave you energised, not depleted. I've noticed this on myself; with my old, hard 'n' heavy routine, I'd always push the workouts for later and always look forward to finally finish. Now, with my new routine, which is more about "stimulate, don't obliterate", I always look forward to train and by the end I even find myself wishing for more sometimes. I'm always fresh and full of energy, at the end even more so than at the beginning.
    When you train daily, keep the intensity low, almost easy. This is something I still can't manage to grasp. I've been practicing daily training for some 2 weeks, and no matter whether it's squats, crawls, or sprints, I keep having to tell myself "don't go to failure, don't go to failure."

    You said that stretching is perhaps more about being present with your body than actually lenghtening muscles, and i find that to be true!
    I Implemented the 5 tibetans as a morning ritual, and that extra focus on breathing and being present with the body, gave me a big boost and more playfulness into my stretching routine. It helped me ALOT. Thank you for the great video!

    Learn and love to stretch with strength. The Daily is a great tool for every day body opening. Sometimes I do 2 or three in the morning depending on what my body is craving. Recently I have taken resistance band and dance classes twice a week, walking, and yoga . My job requires me to be out in the field so I usually do my best to incorporate a low squat, crouch, good morning, mini duck walks to keep the momentum and they actually contribute to what I do. This past year I learned how Mobility is so vital and important. I'm in my mid 50's so to me it is a priority. Thank You.

    As PT I was working with patients with a sedentary lifestyle for a while. All have the same problem - significantly decreased range of motion, body discomfort and lots of related issues such as back pain, neck pain, migraines etc. After simplest stretching exercises, they felt a relief. Stretching is a fantastic thing. I also decided to improve my flexibility (at almost 31 😅). Now I'm discovering how much time it will take and tracking all my progress on the videos

    hello brothers I love the way you train. I am 51 years old and I trained all my life and I trained in football and blue sports to some extent. The thing is that I always tried to maintain balance in my life. And I learned from my own experiences that everything is good when you have a balance between your mind and your body and you can connect your mind to your body.     Yoga - restorative and yin, once a week, I crave it, it improves my general posture, allows me to feel very good stretches into the muscles and joints and fascia, and most importantly allows me to disconnect.
    There's also your 'do this most mornings' routine which I absolutely love!
    If I didn't do both I wouldn't feel good.
    There's also massage which is an additional expense which might not be for everyone, but a good deep tissue / sports massage with someone who knows anatomy helps a lot.

    50 1/2 years old and finally stretching seriously. Three months in and I’ve gained all kinds of flexibility, but most of all, I feel fantastic. I feel fantastic during my workout and in the middle of the day when I have to reach for something up high or something I dropped, and even in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom, I feel so incredibly spry and have no aches, and just feel overall strong. I can’t wait to see where I’m at another few months and at this time next year. Following Strength Side and Knees Over Toes.

    Ive discovered the benefits of stretching from visits to my physiotherapist concerning my anxiety induced muscle pain.
    My experience slowly evolved from doing stretches and strengthening exercises to understanding the limits of my body, respecting those limits and constantly be connected with my body. Its safe to say stretching kinda unlocked a big part of what it means to be alive for me.

    Excellent video Strength Side brothers. Flexibility and mobility has paid dividends on my fitness journey.
    In the commercial gym I go to, though, I am one of the few people who actually does mobility drills with a band prior to exercise and yoga style stretches post-workout. I can't believe that more people do not do it. I feel so much more fluid now, dedicating a mere 15 minutes out of my session to mobilise and stretch.

    Hey guys!
    Fantastic and very informative videos I have seen from y'all. 🤩
    But boy, do I miss my TKD days, .. back in the day (80's) when I was a very supple 20-24yrs old. The stretching I did for TKD, I was fascinated with, re their fanciful kicks, etc.. and in 2 months I soon got down to doing the full front splits, then with my face down on my knee.. and the box splits I was just about there.. my seated butterfly stretch for my hips/groin. my knees were flat on the floor.. also kneeling and leaning my body back to touch the back of my head on the floor, .. and the standing stretch, a la, Bruce Lee, WOT Dragon pre-fight with Chuck.. again, straight legs with my nose onto my knees.... and wowza, do I miss being able to do all those. 😭😭
    So, now, at a youthful 61, with a 9yr old son (ito video games..), I am plowing myself into Calisthenics, and getting my stretching back on, but it's like molasses in winter at the mo.. but it'll come soon enough... patience is the key. .. and I am dragging my son with me, lest he get too stiff and lazy, in his youth! 😍
    I loved your Hanging video, and will be joining that program, along with this stretching one, asap.

    I loved this talk! Mobility and flexibility of the body really means being able to feel free. Since I was little I felt that need to move and have a certain flexibility. It is very ugly to feel rigid. I always trained disciplines where some mobility and flexibility was needed, such as taekwondo and dance. Now I started my path with yoga and delving into the topic of mobility. They named Kelly, who, while researching the movement, found his book, which I find interesting. It would be nice if you made a video recommending these types of books or references of the movement in order to continue investigating the topic. I love your channel! Thank you for every video shared 💓 (I'm using a translator, I hope it's understood 😅)

    I like the approach of my program I'm using, there's lower body PNF stretching in between upper body strength sets.
    It's optional for having a active break.
    And a overall warmup followed by specific mobility to prepare the body to not get injured.

    I’d love to say that I’ve been doing long yoga sessions or Pilates, but I haven’t. Instead I’ve made a few very small and very easy changes, and I can already feel the benefits, for my running and everyday life.
    1. I stopped using escalators and always take stairs, but mindfully. I always take 2 at a time and make sure to keep good posture and lean forward into each one.
    2. I hang from a bar for around 30 seconds twice a day.
    3. When I join my 2 year old to play on the floor, I shift between seiza style, 90-90, pigeon, and Asian squat more often.
    That’s it! You don’t need lots of time and effort ✊

    I'm hypermobile so stretching did little for me. I used to rely on strength to prevent injury. Until I got endocarditis and had open heart surgery and somewhere along the line a stroke that went undiagnosed for 2 years. Somehow how I seized up during that time and I thought I was going to have to stop running at a few years ago. 18 months of mobility work seems to be reversing the trend. I am still not moving as well as I used to but I am running the best I have for 5 years again.

    Probably following you guys ideas but adapting it for myself. I just stretch out anything that has pain and move thorough ranges of motion that sort of flow but I would not call it primal or flow. But it is easy with no yoga mat so I stretch 20 mins every morning. I used to do a lot of strength training. I'm 57 years old and looking good.

    For me it's a combination of qigong, rope flow amd as much walking/hiking as parental life allows that keeps me just about mentally and physically loose enough to enjoy living and playing with my kids rather than just watching them play.

    Been an active cyclist and runner for the past 15 years when I started to notice my hip area feeling pretty jacked up due to the repeatedly controller motion. Been implementing more strength/mobility and yoga work into my training and already feel a change but still need a lot to improve. Simply getting a daily squad sit and hang in seems sometimes difficult

    I work in construction so always use walking around site and climbing scaffold etc as a form of movement. At home I have a pull up bar which I dead hang on for 1 minute every day. I have a treadmill in my house and use this for backward walking. I use a simple yoga flow daily. I then train BJJ twice a week. I feel good for a 40 year old man and I have the odd injury here and there I feel really good 👍

    I feel that a daily practice, sitting on the ground more often and full rom training yield the best results for me. Especially full rom training loosens up my hips the best. 🙂

    I was under the assumption that you should do mobility drills prior to exercise and stretching after. The analogy that stopped me stretching before exercise was chewing gum. If you stretch a piece of gum when it's cold, it snaps . What do you think?

    if you would like to take one ballet lesson for beginners and do the material, you could discuss the topic of the between strength and flexibility , your stretch ranges are great , your stretching ranges are great, I'm curious how high you can lift your leg above the bar and be technical enough to do it?     Stretching wasn’t popular growing up? That’s so weird to hear, but it’s definitely true. When I was a kid in the 90’s, I started yoga using my mom’s VHS tape of Linda Arkin, from ‘89 I think. Linda Arkin started a lifetime obsession of yoga & stretching for me. Before & after every workout I basically do yoga (dynamic warmup, static cool down).
    On a side note, I love Crawling now

    Defenetly one that is serving me well so far is doing movement snacks throughout the day, or Stretching positions instead of sitting down Im in a stretch position when I'm in my computer! (as I'm currently typing this I'm in a deep lunge position)

    Been sitting in the squat for the past 7 years nearly daily , still can't get my heels on the ground! However, with squat shoes and a bit of warming up I can, and my barbell squat looks damn good these days :)

    The way I see stretching is like how I see myself being under a little waterfall after being out in the sun the whole day. Not too strong but enough for me to cool down after a long hard day of heat and stress.

    I do a lot of the Bikram Original Hot Yoga, Hot Power Vinyasa, Yin, and Yinyasa. I also train Jiu-Jitsu Gi and no-Gi and I do some basic kettlebell and sandbag lifting at age 42. Oh yeah, and I kayak and mountain bike on the regular.
