You use very little grease for the bearings on your freehub where others use the "whole container". Which is the proper "amount" for overhauling a freehub or does it matter?
New freehub on my bike but ive started to hear a slight tinking sound when im pedaling😢Im sure its coming from that area. When one thing goes wrong with the bike everything else comes out in sympathy with it. A pain in the ass😅
Gloves alter dexterity of ones hands, but heard and seen many cases where infection might develop and one might even lose a finger. Better to be safe than sorry. Having said this, I too skip gloves way too often when working on dirty ass bikes.

I miss the days of the freewheel. Every time my chain stretched, I would replace chain and freewheel, getting all new bearings, spring and pawls. Now, the cassette has destroyed bicycling with index shifting, and outrageously expensive shifters and drivetrains. I miss the days of downtube friction shifters, no housing, just a direct connection to the derailleurs, I never wished back then we had indexing, the skill of shifting with these simple levers was earned and never a problem. I hate how technology has made the bicycle worse over the last 50 years and finding parts sometimes impossible. You simply went to the bike store and said I need a chain, they fit every bike. Freewheels could be built up to have any gear ratios you wanted. Cassette gearing today, and gear ratios are all wrong unless you buy a very narrow range like a 14-23. Currently I have a good setup for flats and limited mountain climbing for the road: 22-32-42 chainrings, and a: 12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23 for an 8 speed cassette 24 speed (minus repeats) bike.
