    Waterproofing seems to be a fairly common question. With over 1800 videos, I can almost always find an answer by doing a TH-cam search like this one "Aquachigger waterproof" and bingo! - another lesson from Professor Chigg. Thanks as always, Beau.

    Thanks Beau...I watched the video a year ago and never thought I would need one of these until I dove in a Canadian lake where people jumped from a cliff into the water..in 20 feet of water there were large boulders rendering my detector coil somewhat useless...I knew there were goodies down there..this summer I'm going to use this pinpointer and your waterproofing and hopefully post a video..Thanks

    I'm water hunting a stream that runs through an old (1884) park that was the
    local swimming hole for kids until the late '50's (When the town built a pool) and
    I've been needing something like this :)

    Beau do you have a seperate collection for your water finds ? have you dug more shells and cannon balls in the water then land.

  • @nuggetnoggin
    @nuggetnoggin 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    ok makes sense. people would throw cannon balls in the rivers on the way home from the war.. but around here not much CW stuff, but someone still could of dropped one while crossing a ford.

    Thanks Beau. I tried the plastic baggy method too. It leaked several times, so I would not advise it though the vacuum type bag might be worth a try. I've got to believe Garrett could make a waterproof version of the Propointer and sell a ton of them.

    Beau you ever do any revolutionary battle sites? I know of one close by me that the Indians burned a col at the stake in revenge for a massacre by another col. I know the names but and everything about the battle but don't want to give away too much. Anyway the battles ire is private land and I know the owners. They said a team went out there in the 70s with metal detectors and found a few buttons and no one has hunted it since. You want to give it a try let me know.

    I saw the video where someone dipped it into a can of some thick hardening plastic material which looked like the easiest way, the only difference being that you couldn't cover your light in it if the material will be dark and block it when turned on.

    Love the videos man! Me and my buddy just got into this hobby a few months ago. We're nothing using Fisher F2's and Garrett pro pointers. I'd love to waterproof mine like you did yours, but honestly I'm far to scared to mess with it being as it cost so much. You must've been nervous when you first started modifying it!!! Also, what part of MD are you from? I live in a little town called Rock Hall (Kent County) on the eastern shore. And do you have any tips on how to research for good spots?

    Beau . Thanks for the info ! Why don't Garrett waterproof their pin pointers ? It would help out for those who water hunt

  • @sheltonwilliams472
    @sheltonwilliams472 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vibra probe 580, waterproof to only 100', no annoying beeps, it's pulse induction so it detects the smallest of gold nuggets, you can use it as a hammer when you aren't detecting, dig your hole with it, throw it out of your car while doing 70mph, (my kid actually did this! It took forever to find but still works like new) no switch, no buttons, no goop or putty, not that I'm knocking this guy waterproofing his pinpointer, I'm not, but I'd rather pay the same amount of money and get a unit that's factory waterproof with a waterproof warranty.

    Garretts website specifically states that it is water resistant. Meaning moderate moisture will not damage the pointer. Water proof would mean you can submerge it, which you obviously cannot. There is a button, a speaker, and a battery case which all are holes into the motherboard. Please don't try to think you are correct. You seem like you have never had or even seen a propointer and have never been underwater metal detecting.

    I'm all gooped up and ready to go. Thanks, Beau! And by the way, I'm on a dig in a river where I've already moved some decent sized rocks and I'm still digging down. I"m at about 3-4 inches down and I'm still getting a solid ding on something. I'm just wondering if the water ever lies or what the propensity is for false postives.

    Beau, have you ever used the Vibra-Probe (being waterproof to 100 feet)? I ask because that's what I've always used without a single issue, but wonder if the Pro pointer is better since you're clearly taking the time and effort to modify it.

    IT HAS ARRIVED not by garrett but by makro we finally have a waterproof pinpointer that's good up to 3 feet really cool item its around the same price as the garrett but good luck getting ahold of one right now everywhere seems to be sold out.. whats your thoughts on this beau are you going to purchase the makro...

    • @mddigger8424
      @mddigger8424 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      well I have been thinking. im sure youv heard of it its where franis scott key grew up its called the teric ruben farm in keymar my uncles ex's wife father owned it my uncle lived there for many of years I grew up on that farm.. her father sold it I guess its been about 8 to ten years now wish I was into metal detecting back then but the guy that used to live there let me and my cousins used to hunt deer there now to my knowledge its never been metal detected. the farm is forsale again I was thinking of asking the new owner if I could hunt there. although I don't know if we could hunt around the house due to its historical property and the lions club still comes out and takes care of the moument out front of the house. but it looks like one video you made awhile ago where the graves were back in there field. same here there are slave tombstones back in the field and it still has the slave whipping shed on the property and the farm has 170 acres back then the key family owned all off keymar and almost all of Taneytown but over the years it has been broke down to different farmers now I know the one field prolly has a lot of modern bullets in it cause we would shoot back there a lot but like I said there are 170 acres now I don't know I think the key family were pretty wealthy cause they did own slaves. alls I kmow I hated staying there as a kid the steps creeped and it was scary lol. but you think it would be worth giving that a shot.. now I don't have many friends im more of just my family and I so that's why I asked if you would like to try too cause I don't have any friends that metal detect besides bill. but just thought I would throw that out there cause like I said if someone else finds something it makes me happy too im not a greedy person. it would just be an honor to detect along side you.. but let me know what you think it has to have some history there...

    • @mddigger8424
      @mddigger8424 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok that would be cool I will see if I can stop in and get written permission wished my uncle still owned it lol. but you have to think there has to be some kind of history in the grounds there but ill see what I can come up with it might be a little far for you though its in keymar md off Keysville road... that's for the response beau I enjoy talking to you. also do you know of anyone that has a used garrett at pro forsale.. if not its ok im almost there I just sold my crossbow cause I don't hunt anymore.. also dident know if you knew of any metal detecting clubs around I would love to join one for something to do. I tried reaching out to Hagerstown but I guess their not in service anymore but they said there is a Frederick one I gotten all this from kellyco's website but anyway nice talking to you again and look forward to hunting with you in the future sometime It gets bored hunting by yourself.. but I guess you almost have to now adays cause people have a tendsany of taking advantage of people. but until then take care beau.
