  • A quick improvement you can do to improve your GP Pointer,It should be a case of slipping the circuit board up and pushing the sensor down....but what if something goes wrong (like mine did).Complete strip down and improvments shown.

    I was tempted to improve mine with a hammer. Once it detected something it often wouldnt stop bleeping, meaning you had to constantly switch it off and back on to reset it. In the end I bought a Garrett one, great bit of kit.

      My Garrett would do the same, they are built better as I've smacked it on my shovel countless times to stop it beeping

    Although I haven't tried it myself but apparently all you need to do is remove the rubber switch cover, then push a length of stiff wire through the hole to move the coil down to the end of the pointer. No need to dismantle the pointer at all, but still a useful video should anyone need to get inside the device to fix a fault.

      Nice bit of knowledge,wish I'd know that before lol.

    You can use a paper clip and black plastic tape for fine tuning or calibrating.

    i got the GP but the switch broke as u say delicate so just put my carrot in2 the GP case works fine had a hole in my carrot case everything lines up great / dont mess about with the wire just take the little screw out and long nose pull it out after taking the rubber off 1st

    Quick question, I've broken my decent pinpointer, and ordered a gp pointer now for the weekend, would it be a good idea to take the sensor of my decent one and put it in the gp? Would that do anything to improve it?

    • @Hadesdetecting
      @Hadesdetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not something I've tried ,the joints/wires in the cheap one are very flimsy if you start actually talking it apart.wouldnt like to say if it would work,but I'd be interested to know the outcome if you do.Cheers for the interesting question

      @@Hadesdetecting yeah exactly, and the sensor from my decent pinpointer is pretty sturdy so maybe it'll make a difference, I'll keep you updated about it! The gp should arrive tomorrow 😁 grts!

    i will take my one apart and put a 1 k resistor and switch across the coil as it resonates with my minelab detector coil .

  • @andyellis1141
    @andyellis1141 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some of them got foam around the coil, those switches are very fiddly.

    • @Hadesdetecting
      @Hadesdetecting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has a thin jacket of foam. The switch is like a jack in a box, likely to pop apart, superglue sorted that

    With a little rehearsal you could turn this 9 minute video into a 30 second video

      Yeah but the inner capitalist in me wants to stretch it out for them lovely TH-cam viewing minutes.40k views has more than paid for this pointer,and comments like this only help the analytic so thanks.

      @@Hadesdetecting Its a stretch alongside a green. it's a treeline where the mowers can't get to the long grass. I walked up and down it while walking the dogs. Have to battle with nettles at some points so I'd need to keep my distance. That's why I'm wondering if the device has a range.

    • @Hadesdetecting

      @@BossLevelAudio24 they don't haveuch range,a few inches at most as they are really built for pin pointing a target once dug.Are there any detecting recovery Facebook groups near you?we have one that volunteer to find lost rings,keys etc

    What a simple design as that is a ferrite rod inside an antenna like the old AM radios. Actually, this is nothing more than a radio. "The simplest form of a metal detector consists of an oscillator producing an alternating current that passes through a coil producing an alternating magnetic field. If a piece of electrically conductive metal is close to the coil, eddy currents will be induced (inductive sensor) in the metal, and this produces a magnetic field of its own. If another coil is used to measure the magnetic field (acting as a magnetometer), the change in the magnetic field due to the metallic object can be detected." 1960s tech basically.

    Gp-pointer What is a metal detector pointer? A metal detector Pinpointer is a specialized tool which is useful for determining the exact location, depth, and even size of an object without the hassle of using an all-purpose metal detector. Gp-pointer is good at all 🙂
