Thank you so much for making this video. I only just started my study abroad and I can already relate to all of these things! It's so good to hear someone else talk about it and know that I am not alone because no one ever mentions them so it felt like I was doing something wrong or just wasn't cut out to do this. Anyways I definitely feel better now and will try to come back to this video in times of need :)
Awww Fiona I am so happy that this video helped you 💗Exactly! I often feel like on social media no one wants to "admit" that not everything is perfect all the time 💩so it's good to break that false sense of perfection and talk about the REAL stuff - which isn't even bad, it's just human and it's totally normal! 🥰Sending hugs your way!!
All these emotions of loneliness and homesickness were stopping me to do my studies abroad but listening to your story and the way you're are so optimistic really motivated me. Everybody don't talk about these small but hard things ..
Oh dear how well you phrased every feeling I have now, like I felt wow I am not the only person who is struggling with dealing with this new life. 25 years old, I am curretly studying in Tokyo as a foreign student, been here two months and just like you, I really feel deeply for my family and feel the same kinds of loneliness from time to time. Uncertain of when my next flight home will be and I deeply miss a lot of moments I could share with my friends and my family. I thank you for this video. Tuely. Lots of hugs.
I am 16 and I have been in England for 2 months now (I'll be here for 8 more) and I started feeling so homesick and lonely. Hearing that it is a normal thing makes me feel so much better
Awww only 16 and already abroad - that's so impressive 😍yes it's totally normal, and it's a learning experience ❤️try to find the small things every day to be happy about and focus on them 💛you can be happy in the NOW and excited to go back home in the future 🥰hugs to you xx
Crossing to this video. I am here in Denmark for 1 month and I am feeling alone and sad. I don't have friends. I am having my internship here for a year. I hate having this feeling it made me think that I am weak. And watching this video, I am glad that I'm not the only one having this kind of feeling. I feel relief. This video is very helpful. Thank you!
Dear Janelle, I'm sending you all the happy vibes! 🌈 It's totally normal to feel this way sometimes and you're for sure not the only one. It's such a growing process to study and live abroad that comes with many challenges! 💓 Allow yourself to feel sad AND then allow yourself to do something that'll make you feel better, even if it's just 1%. What's one thing you could do today that would make you feel just 1% better? 💖
Thank you for bringing up FOMO and the going out topic. I'm going to Florence next semester and I am a bit nervous because I hear everyone wants to party all the time, and that isn't really my scene.
It's great that you are already aware of that! 😊Stick to your values as best as you can and make choices based on what will make you happier in the long run 💖
this is the best video i could have come across right now. thank you for your positivity and advice. its like 4am and im only three days into my study abroad... but i feel like so sad and lonely. literally i found myself nodding so hard to everything you said. i've already even thought about going home. but thank you for making this. i will give it a fair shot and really i've been crying all night and this is the only thing that has helped me calm down. Such an amazing video. I’ve been studying in Germany for one month and I can already relate to all the things you said. I’m glad I’m not the only one, cause having all these feelings made me think that I was weak or that I was not prepared. Thank you ☺️
This is exactly what I needed to hear so huge THANK YOU! This is my first week of Erasmus in Germany and I am already experiencing the majority of the things mentioned in the video. I am normally a very optimistic and cheerful person so I don´t know what happened that I feel this bad. I really like your point of view, I like this way of looking at things. I hope everything is going to be better with time but for now, this totally made me feel better ❤
I am studying abroad. With covid situation it makes things even more complicated and hard. It will take 2 years -20 months to go. And your videos are really helping me, please keep going 💗 thank you 💟
Thank you for such a motivating video. You look so mature and responsible and I'm sure this is the best profile everyone could get inspiration of while leaving for studying abroad.

Hi, i just found this video. I am currently 13 and studying abroad in Singapore. All my life I've been staying with my parents and my two siblings and when i watched this video i couldn't help but relate to the homesickness part. It's been really hard for me to adjust and I've been here for about a month so I'm keeping an open mind but I really miss home. I cry over the thought of my parents and little things like that and i don't know what to do. A couple times i feel like i regret coming here because it always feels like i can never get a break with so much to do in school + homework & projects + extra classes + competitive friends + ccas + balancing living alone in a dorm too on top of all that. It's nice to think that this is only temporary and i hope i can adjust well for the next coming months. Sorry for venting out here, i just really wanted to say it. Thanks for making this video, it makes me feel better to think people go through the same things as i am 💜
Hey Reika 💖You are definitely not alone. I felt the exact way back then in Toronto ❤️It will get better 😘It is only temporary 💖Do the things that make you feel good NOW. Happiness is not dependent on location, but on your mindset 😊❤️Sending you lots of virtual hugs!!
Heyyy same I just started studying in SG this year. U r in government’s sch right?? Cuz u mentioned CCAs and competitive friends haha. Btw wut sch r u in?
So glad I found your video! I'm going to be studying abroad in just a week (exciting!), but I'm definitely nervous, and I'm already feeling the pressure of people's expectations of a "perfect study abroad experience", haha. I will definitely save this video for future use when I have arrived on my study abroad experience, because you are so inspiring and reassuring! Thank you! So glad I found this! It definitely helps a lot now, and I know it will help a lot in the future!
Awww I am so glad my videos help you! 🧡Absolutely, YOU are the only one to define your study abroad experience. Even if people (and yourself) sometimes tell you otherwise - you can choose what and what not to include in your experience. You don't have to justify anything to anyone, do what feels fun and exciting for YOU 🌈You are not studying abroad to please other people 😎
I might study abroad in the next two years and i feel very anxious about feeling lonely and missing my parents and friends (especially parents) and also feeling homesick even if i really want to go outside my country that can be shit sometimes. Its so good to see realistic videos like yours and i feel like m not the only one. Please guys tell me more about your exprience if you have time ! ❤❤❤

That helps me to release them 😊also creating an evening ritual/routine that makes you feel good! 💖doing things that you enjoy! for me that is always yoga, journaling, reading ✨meditation helps SO MUCH if you have issues falling asleep! let me know if that helps 💖

I’m considering studying a Japanese English degree with a year abroad but I feel like I won’t survive on my own in Japan, I’m really awkward and shy and haven’t really had a chance to be completely independent. Lmao I’ve been trying to decide what degree to chose for months 😂
