I like the coffee to be so disgustingly bitter that it makes the back of my neck shiver every time i take a swig. I then proceed to chug the whole thing and have what some might say feels like a miniature stroke.

I get that if I try to microwave leftover coffee! I however, do not like that. It seemed more noticeable with cheaper coffee.

I've been a constant coffee drinker my whole adult life and always thought people complaining of the jitters were just being over dramatic pussies. In my 30s there was 6 months when I had to stop drinking all caffeine. Ok, no withdraw, no problems, I thought everything was good. But my first cup of coffee after that 6 months had me doing an involuntary Parkinson's impression. It only lasted for the first few cups though.

I may have missed this but tannins are one of the bitter things in coffee and tea and come out when brewed at a certain temperature. "cold" brew coffee or tea doesn't release as much tannins and makes it less bitter but also changes flavor. In the home brew world to add coffee or tea flavor to the beer we usually cold brew it so we don't add tannins to the beer.

oh, i had always heard that hot brewing generated more exotic volatile compounds that give hot coffee its nice taste BUT break down as they cool down and cause it to taste worse, hence why hot coffee brewed over ice doesn't taste as good as cold brew on ice. Turns out its just oxygen+heat

  • @UniqueornBacon

Why does the cream/milk not mix properly if the coffee has been sitting out too long? (OR has been reheated in a microwave.)
I say "It's been cooked." when that happens. I assume it has something to do with the water boiling out, or like it was mentioned in the video, some kind of chemical reaction occurs after about 30 minutes. The coffee taste more acidic, and the same amount of cream won't change the color the same. (It takes MORE creamer to change the color after a while)

Based on this video, made cold brew coffee overnight... not bad! But, my normal way to drink it is with soy milk and blended cashews, once I do that, can't tell the difference! Edit: Ok, today I made my regular hot coffee, and tried it black... coldbrew is much milder and easier to drink black!!! yeah science!

I like cold brew coffee, but I prefer putting in the microwave so it’s warm. I like it because it’s quicker to have in the morning, because I can just filter it before the weekdays, and then I can wake up, mix the concentrate with some water, pop it in the microwave, then bam. Instant coffee that tastes better than just mixing the coffee mix with boiling water. Plus, less acid means less upset tummy.

I have never really liked coffee so when cold brewed coffee became popular I didn't try it because I figured it was just more of the same. But if cold brewed coffee doesn't taste as bitter (the reason I didn't care for it) I might just give it a shot.
And then I'll finally have access to that secret source of energy human adults have been tapping into for centuries. I'll be UNSTOPPABLE!

What's wrong with people who never gets hungry? I have never experienced "hunger pangs" and usually associate feeling weak with hunger. People telling me I messed up my metabolism, by drinking coffee and my hunger is suppressed by it forever. I do like drinking coffee, but I don't consume caffeine everyday. Is caffeine really that good at suppressing hunger?

If people served cold brew hot, I might be interested in drinking it? I'm old-fashioned. I like my coffee served hot and unadulterated, and then I'll drink it any temperature as it cools down. It needs to start hot, but then I'm temperature-neutral. There's nothing wrong with "regular coffee," and get out of here with that iced coffee! Bitter taste is underrated. Broccoli rabe is my favorite vegetable. I eat it every day.

If your coffee tastes bitter or sour, it wasn't brewed right.
The easiest way to discern if an business or person knows proper coffee is to get it black. That's no sugar, no cream, and no flavorings. Only the truest taste of the coffee. If it tastes bitter or sour, it wasn't brewed right and I would move on.
Proper ground, stored, roasted, and brewed coffee does not taste bitter or sour.
