This short movie, which can only be described as a nightmare for the struggling Noctis, is a collaboration between FINAL FANTASY XV and Digic Pictures, the world renown 3D animation studio that also took part in the creation of KINGSGLAIVE FINAL FANTASY XV.
This beautiful yet violent motion picture inspired by the world and story of FINAL FANTASY depicts an “omen” for Noctis’ father, King Regis, of a catastrophic future that must be avoided.
Final Fantasy XV will be released on November 29, 2016 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

NOT true, technically. When VSXIII became XV, they stripped it to it's most basic parts, put it in the new engine, and reworked the story. Obviously since VS was going to interconnect deeply with XIII's plot.

Luna lived a victim and died a victim ,and those cruel FFXV Devs even took out the abuse part (DAWN trailer). Like WTH? I wanted Luna to be the kind of strong woman that will "survive against all odds" but noooo.. just kill her with a butter knife the Devs said. Pathetic. Even I could write a better plot than that.
Tabata coul've given so much meaning to Luna's character. Amy Shiels - Luna's VA even said that fans on the public event came to her crying how they can relate to Luna's struggle. Seriously there were people who've lived a life like Luna's and wanted a strong representation in the actual game story. But Tabata failed them by making a plot for 10-year olds. Seriously what was "Pegi 16" about this game anyway?

I really like to see Noctis alone for the first time. It always seemed like he couldn't do anything on his own until now.

Asher Adrey How so? We see two Noctis' and its unclear how he kills Luna. Why he does it at all, and what makes him realize his wrong in the first place. Theres more to this than we know
The point of this trailer isn't that he can do things on his own, because obviously this trailer is showing his slow descent to madness. There's nothing wrong with doing things on your own, but one of the main themes of this game, brotherhood, is trying to show you that there's nothing wrong when you don't do things on your own, when you have help along the way. Noctis' friends aren't there just to protect him, they're there to ground him, to help him out through a journey that could potentially drive him off the deep end. Noctis isn't helpless- he is plenty capable of doing things on his own. He does know how to fight and take care of himself. But this trailer shows that even if he can do those things, he also needs the help along the way, and there's nothing wrong with that, especially through the perilous journey that he's going through.

Actually if the Omen is a world where Noctis never had his three allies with him in his journey, Prompto's band will still be on the dog regardless, since he probably did that in the past timeline before the Omen splits it up. Meaning something BAD happens to each of Noctis' allies, and he journey alone in the Omen.

I'm talking about the past, the childhood of Noctis where a young Prompto put a Band on a white dog he rescued. That could exist even in the Omen, since the timeline was 'changed' when Noctis' father Regis, assigned the three allies to him to change the future, but this happened much later in the timeline when Noctis is a teenager.
So Luna's dog, likely kept the band because of the connection between Prompto and Luna, with Luna telling him to be friends with Noctis.
In the Omen, Prompto and the other 'brothers' is no where to be seen, most likely dead before they could team up.

I really dislike CGI trailers, they usually fail to represent the actual game and in the long run, they may ending hurting their game...but, i have to admit, this was pretty good, they are not trying to sell you features of the game that may or may not be in the final release, instead they are selling you the world and the characters...and i think that's good...so yeah, pretty good trailer.
I find most cinematic trailers are meant to sell the setting, story, or characters with only a splattering of gameplay elements.
We know so much about how the main game looks and feels that there's no room for disappointment. I'm not a huge fan of pre-rendered trailers either, but in this case it's only serving to show how dark the story could end up getting. The story itself is the only thing we really don't know yet, and this was a great insight to its tone.

Not really, bad example perhaps, but i recall Killzone 2 with that "glimpse" of Gameplay they showed, and the game didn't come anywhere near that (gameplay wise), so yeah, not a fan of this kind of trailers, but again, this was pretty damn good.
MadSnake123 The problem there is that the Killzone 2 trailer implied gameplay. Square went out of its way to let you know that this was a short film inspired by the story and setting.
No Man's Sky did something similar by heavily implying that their E3 trailers were gameplay too. Cinematic trailers are fine. Pretending they're the final game is not.
You know why you love this trailer so much? You see the search for the right path in this vast world, you see longing for another person you can call yours, you see struggle in your journey, pain, you see betrayal, you hear the Most agonizing Scream after the Realisation of the horror in your wrong path.
All this summarizes the most intense feelings humans can experience and drive them. It is what Drives US!

So this Trailer depicts an omen seen my King Regis that details a cruel fate to his son, that's why in the beginning of the game Regis sends Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto "Not to guide his wayward son, only that they remain at his side". Notice how only Noctis is fighting by himself in this trailer?

This trailer doesn't happen in game because it's NOT supposed to happen in game. It's a vision of a possible future for Noctis that his father, King Regis, want's to avoid. This kind of scenario would happen if he was doing his journey all by himself. That's why his companions came along.
If you won't bother reading the description, don't even bother commenting.

You do realize that this one is a what if scenario, this isn't really part of the story. The video shows an inspired interpretation the team that made kingsglaive had. They loosely connect it to the game by calling it the omen the King had and thus tries to prevent. It's more like "this could have happened if things went unchanged", but anyone who saw one FFXV trailer knows that things aren't happening as they are shown in this video.

Yeah, that's pretty much the point that I've come to. I think Square is just kind of jerking us around at this point for better or for worse. Granted, I always felt a bit torn/confused as to what exactly they wanted to do with the main character. He always seemed to me to be some kind of character that will be on the edge for whatever reason.

One of my fondest memories. I got the NP Players Guide for FF in 1990. I'd never even heard of the game until then. I read through the guide so many times I knew I had to have it. So I got it for my 10th birthday. Worth it. Granted, FFIV is probably my favorite now, but I'm extremely happy to have been set on the path by NP all those years ago.
It would have been the sort of game I'd have been into at the time (and of course, now). Problem is, the game wasn't released in Europe, and and my parents bought me a Sega Master System instead anyway. So no luck for me.
for those wondering the word "Omen" in this trailer is used very properly. this is a "What if" scenario if Noct trekked the journey alone. Which you notice it doesn't go too well eventually, but with his Bros standing by him he faces all his obstacles firmly with his brothers at his side. It's actually a very honorable concept of staying strong by standing with each other.
EXPLANATION [WARNING SPOILERS] This trailer shows Bahamut revealing to King Regis what would happen should the boys stay back and the city stay defended. Noctis would go off on his own , only to be lead into strife by the illusions (the dog) of Ardyn and Daemons . Only to be lead to blame himself for the death of Luna. The vision shows all the challenges in the game even Noctis losing his powers due to the Empire's machine. It also shows him use every style of weapon his companions use. The vision then ends back in the real world before Kingsglaive (The Movie) . Regis then ponders if the path to the destruction of Insomnia and sending off his son is correct . He asks Bahamut if all the death is worth it. To which Bahamut within the Crystal replies that the only death that he looks foward to seeing is the Immortal Ardyn, because of the ruin he will bring. Regis then begs for mercy and forgiveness over the path he has chosen from the gods.
You do realize, Ardyn was wrongfully accused of being evil by that very same Crystal. Bahamut spirit. So we can clearly say that the crystal is corrupting him(Noctis). The concept of this trailer is a different story altogether. No way does the Omen trailer implies that this was to happen if he travels alone..
so basically king regis sacrificed everything - his life, his people and kingdom, noctis, luna - to defeat ardyn....

Mehak Chaudhary Ardyn was accused of being TAINTED by the existance of the daemons he had assimilated within himself. That is also what corrupted him. Not the crystal, but the daemons he absorbed. Also, it was the other 'jealous king' who branded ardyn as evil and turned everyone against him for the sake of the throne.
So yeah that's what I'm talking about. He was wrongfully accused not only by the 'jealous king' whom the crystal chose afterwards but the by the Crystal as well. Don't you see that's kind of unfair that the Crystal is free to decide the fate of humans?

where do you think some of these ideas came from. Watch the first couple of trailers that ever came out for final fantasy versus 13 and this trailer makes a little more sense. Also watch the latest Kingdom hearts 2.8 trailer and you'll see just a couple of similarities.

She only died because the story said so, and the story said so because if Luna survived, she'd actually have to have a point to her character that doesn't revolve solely around Noctis. She'd, dare I say it, actually need to be strong and well-written.
Earlier before Chapter 9 it was told that Luna was suffering from her contacts with the Astrals
Ryujin "Suffering", but no evidence that it would have actually killed her, maybe weakened but recoverable. Again it's a contrived plot point to make her die conveniently when she stopped being useful to Noctis. If cross-game comparisons hold true that means she's weaker than Yuna.

Now I think I understand. In Kingslaive movie Nyx questions the King by saying "What kind of king sacrifices his own people just to save one person, his son" he said something close to that. The king must have known of the omen and send Noctis away with his friends. If Noctis were to stay his friends would have probably die and Noctis wouldn't have been able to handle all the pressure and turned evil

Kingsglaive should have it explained in the movie. The story would have been more alluring had it told about the struggles within the heart of the King - to save the people or the son (and the bigger consequences). That betrayal plot is just too naive.

Bahamut Zero Well not necessarily. The value proposition of FFXV is the journey of the four bros to become Adulthood and from a Prince to become a King. Those premises alone if delivered well could be quite entertaining. I just don't like how they portray the King in the movie. The absences of motives & reasoning make him look stupid & careless, which shouldn't have been the case.

ikr, this is made by square though so I'm willing to go and hype this one. Square hasn't let me down yet! Well... there was KH recoded, but it wasn't a BAD game, and they didn't really hype it almost at all compared to the other KH titles... But I have faith they sill deliver with FFXV and KH2.8 & KH3

Many things. While TPP was a good game and I actually enjoyed some of the story, the way things were handled upset me and left a sore taste in my mouth, like Skullface's death; after the trailers and GZ, his character grew on me and I played expecting to see his boss health bar in my screen any time for an epic conclusion with Venom, and what did I got? That cringe scene with Huey. The fact that an entire chapter (a VERY important chapter) was cut out of the game adds salt to the wound. And the MP could have been fun if it was not shoved down your throat like it was made, tying your offline resources to the online mode and forcing you to play invasions to advance MB. Tl;dr - TPP was ok, but it had the potential to be one of the best games of this generation.

I really hope the symbolism displayed in this trailer is conveyed in the game as well. This Noctics is like a true bad ass, ready to take the world by storm. I would love to see this kind of character development in FF XV and it signifies the fact that h'es the true hero. In the game, my impressions of him were no where near what was shown in this trailer lol.

This could be the Omen that Luna sees in her prophetic dreams or watever future divination thingy. Cause when theres mirror, theres also Luna. From our point of view, its Noctis but it can actually be Luna inside. She goes through the whole thing as Noctis, sees the disaster Noctis will do in the future and with that, current resolve, trying to prevent the omen from happening, thus; name of the trailer: Omen. Prays they stay alive and by that I mean they end up together alive and happy ending unlike FFType0

King Regis had a premonition of what would happen to Noct. When ask the Crystal of what is needed to avoid that outcome, The Crystal said it seeks only one death (The Accursed One) and probably wanted Noct to be part with the Crystal and become Providence. King Regis was upset about this and choose a different path by having his son away from the city, subsequent;y sacrificing his own losing Kingdom. As the city falls and the Crystal stolen, at least his son' s safety was assured and the Crystal is faraway. How wrong he was...

but at the end, he was forced to watch his son on the throne, getting pierced by the blades of his own ancestors, and his own blade. noctis' fate is the saddest piece of story i have ever witnessed, yet its... just awesome.
Belias It was the true purpose of the Chosen King. Not to govern or rule others, but to act as a sacrifice for the world to purge the darkness and bring the light back. Seeing King Regis's ghost refusing to see his son being the sacrifice was most heartbreaking. That is not the life he wanted his son to lead. Noct hold a great burden of the world of Eos on his shoulder and one cannot comprehend how much a pressure he bears.
what really hits me hard in the feels is when you realize how noctis life was... this trailer is a good reflection of noctis life. it was an endless battle, a struggle from the beginning... first, he loses his father and their kingdom, then his girlfriend dies, he is unable to be with her, then his friends are in turmoil, ignis goes blind... he is forced to stay 10 years away inside the crystal, away from his remaining friends. only to return to a world of darkness. he then proceeds to sacrifice himself, never seeing the world return to pure light...
a life of struggle, destined to die. so sad.... it hurts.
Belias Well he get rid of the source of the evil , the star scourge which is Aryden . Nyx uric , Luna and some others gave their lifes to ensure the ring got to Noctis guess it was finally his turn to do the same and end it altogether .
I truly did not expected this darkness daemons will be the vocal point of this game , thought it's gonna be Noctis & companions retaking Insomina and defeating the Emperor of Nifleheim and becoming the King to bring peace
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens: That was my initial thought too since that is how RPG game flow would be. Seek revenge, one man army vs the empire, killing the emperor and reclaiming the kingdom and lead a healthy rule. Apparently, that was not the case for the whole plot. When it was revealed to us all about the crystal and Ardyn, its gotta be one of the most unexpected outcome of the story as it reveals the true plot. It didn't become your typical RPG story either.
As shown in this video of King Regis speak to the crystal, he knew what the crystal want, but decided to go on a different path. But no one could have foreseen Ardyn Lucis Caelum's existence.
Belias it was as though life took a different turn for Noct. After Insomnia falls, he knew there is gonna be a lot of pressure on him because the world is depending on him. But when the Crystal speaks of the true calling of the Chosen King, his burden went grim and now his fate is to save the world in exchange for his life. The feel train starts when Lunafreya died, and it goes darker after...
When the trailers have more cutscenes and story elements than the actual game.

opposits, mirrors and part of each other: Noctis is night/dark, Luna is moon/light, there is no night without a moon. Luna said it's her destiny in Kingsglaive. imo they'll both need to die, so the world of FFXV will see daylight again.

well, actually the characteristics of Noctics changes a lot from V13 to 15. In the original V13 he is more proudly lonely and cooooool. But when the game became 15 he became more and more friendly and teen-like.
So this Noctis was supposed to be a dark protagonist but what we got was a relatable, vulnerable boy who later grows up and owns his responsibility.

This was a premonition he had - what if Noctis didn’t follow his true path. He did what he had to do, but he did it with a heavy heart
This trailer is completely based off the original plot that was scrapped which is why it's so frustrating to see. In the original story, Stella (Luna) was killed by Noctis before the events of the game but he forgot he killed her for some reason and she basically haunts him for the rest of the story. It's a shame they changed it because that would have been much more interesting- and this trailer proves that. Noctis being potentially influenced by something evil = sign me up.
Yeah I kinds liked that version too. But that version half of the game was supposed to take place in another dimension, where Noctis probably tries to bring Luna back to too. I'd like something on those grounds.

It is the future of which if Regis did not do what he did... the point of where Regis did all of what he did to avoid that 'Omen', that future. Hence, the title of the trailer. War was inevitable and unavoidable, so he did all this to protect his son, whom he loved dearly.
It also helps to read fan theories and descriptions to decipher the meaning. xD

Even if you see spoilers in several spots of the game, you still can't piece together the timeline, the location and all, until you've actually play, or watch someone play the game.

Imagine if this was the opening to the game instead of seeing King Regis sending Noct and the others off to meet Luna. That would have been badass. Seriously, Luna seemed more relevant in this trailer compared to the actual game. Even Pryna seemed relevant in this but we mostly saw Umbra during the entire game! And people who only followed XV wonder why we want versus XIII more and are still pissed Stella got scrapped....

This trailer is phenominal! From the look at the shear amount of content that has been released for this game, the emphasis on advertisement, and media spanning aross other platforms like anime, CGI movies, merchandizing, social media interaction, the list can go on. Its more understandable of why this game took longer to produce. Square-Enix wanted to build an experience for Final Fantasy XV,. This was more than just an apology for fans for the long wait time and the add ons to not as well received Final Fantasy XIII, this was a passion project. Square-Enix has mastered their craft.

I've only played the Demo on Windows earlier (Took me 5 hours to finish it completely) and now I'm watching this. It almost brings tears to my eyes. This is gonna be one "for the books" I can already tell. Holy crap this is a pure work of art.
