that fish was hugeeee , if you ever neeed a extra hand to tackle these big monsters lmk!! i am ready to be put in the game coach ahhaha!! Keep up the good work!
Awesome trip. Nice to see some action turning on finally. I’ll be out there sometime this week. Perfect weather, finally…. That butter cutting press is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a minute, is that something I can purchase somewhere? Definitely need it now that I’ve seen it
Man, I was just out there (Wilmington) on the 15th... AFIAK not a single tuna was caught out there that day. It was flat calm, and definitely busy - at one point I counted 38 boats in and around the canyon. We set out gear for the troll (mostly Sterling bars, trackers, and chains) before dawn in about 50 fathoms on the Western side and trolled all around the area without a tuna bite except for a single skipjack. We pulled gear and went pot hopping at about 10:30, quickly catching our limit of mahi... the bigeye is still my white whale - I've yet to catch one on my boat.
dang! we never got around to the mahi, but were headed out tomorrow to try again! This time gonna try the Washington, we'll see what happens! This year has been tough for tuna, no real consistency, lets hope it picks up and we can end the season with a bang!
You don't like the clicker!? we turn it off when setting the spread or making an adjustment but we leave them on when a fish is on so the mate and captain can hear what's going on.

Alex said his dad has had that since he was a kid so I'm not sure, but there is probably something similar out there online, it is a neat little tool!

DO yall keep the fish and all split the meat? Or do you sell the fish, and if so how much will they pay you for that size fish? THX
we keep and eat the fish or give away to family and friends, you need a special commercial tuna permit in order to sell it and we don't have one
who makes that chunk cutter you have on your bucket?
not sure, it is old, Alex's dad has had it since he was little lol
Can’t have the clicker on when hooking a marlin
Please turn off the clicker
