Hunting Harleys 1966 FLH 17k original miles original owner original paint

Todd starts and rides a 1966 1st year generator shovelhead that Harly brought back from Chicago from the original owner. Machine is ultra special because of the color. This was the 1960's and hippy's were in full flower. Iron Butterfly would soon release "In a gadda da vida". The refrain of which is "don't you know I'm loving you", an instant cult classic from the era. This is why this machine has "Iron Butterfly's" on the gas tank. This machine is truly an Icon of a bygone era of free love and self expresson, and especially FREEDOM.

1965 was the last year. Lot of one year only items on 1965's. The 1963 -65 models used an outside oiler set of heads. This system was also used on all Shovelheads, outside oiling. 1965 was the ONLY year for an electric start on the Panheads.

correct. However, these generator models were made by the original HD factory until late 1969 when AMF production started. AMF production ended in late 1981

cant beat that red and white , dont see many either , thought of doing my first edition heritage in white seat, bags( birthas) and grips, its the dark berry w burg -cherry inserts. 81-89 tank emblem.VERY NICE 66!!!

estimation would be 100MPH top speed. estimation on gas mileage would be 30 MPG. and estimation on HP would be 30. But this is an estimation only.

No, I do not. This is because the factory figures then and today are always inflated. Also, gas then and now is going to give different results in all three figures

I am not a native english speaker. With inflated, you mean that the data is not accurate? In my country the manufacturer must give the goverment the amount of horsepower and topspeed. On old vehcile you only can find the amount of horsepower but on modern vechile you can olso find the top speed. All this information you can find it on the registrationpapers of the bike. I was hoping that it might be son in your country. What would be your estimation of a electra shovel policeedition?
