@ not the actual vest he wore, but my grandmother made ponchos and blankets in that same pattern 😂it brought back memories. She passed in 1978. My Sophomore Year in high school
Love Paull Butterfield. A great Chicago blues musician. Thanks Midnight Special for sharing these amazing performances from these amazing artists and bands. May Paul Butterfield rest in peace. Cheers! ✌️
Wow! This was a kind of prequel to his appearance with The Band in their Nov. 1976, "Last Waltz". This song bears a lot of similarities to "Mystery Train" with The Band, same key, chord changes, and similar harp riffs.
Chicago Blues kept me alive when the proverbial chips were down a buddy telling me that he felt safer in Kabul than when he was back in Chicago really put it out clear
Who would’ve guessed that all those years we school children were listening to the lunch menu on the PA system that the microphone would be prized by harp players the world over.
Goeff Muldaur is missing here, as is Billy Rich. Billy is credited on bass on the album but look who's here! Rod Hicks without his Kustom B200 or his Ampeg fretless!
Butter performing at The Last Waltz is one of the true guest highlights ...he was studying breathing techniques and could hold a single note on his harp for over 6 minutes ...ouch !
@ Woah, thanks for all the info record guy! I really don't like it when people post these videos and don't include all the pertinent information, (credits!), unless it was written somewhere and I didn't see it, in that case I apologize to whomever. Have a great day.
My grandmother knitted the drummers vest 😂
Is that a joke or serious? Either way haha

Sweater vests were a thing! 🙂
Heck yeah, we all had a relative doing that, lol!! My aunt did the ponchos with fringe. 😂😂
@ Grandmom wrapped them for Christmas presents 🎁 😂😂😂
Saw him a couple of times in small venues in 1971 while I was in high school. He may have been the best ever blues harp player. Terrific band.

A blues man plying his craft. Glorious.
Paul Butterfield was a great musician. He is one of my inspiration to play the blues hamonica.
Your channel is wonderful. I've never seen Paul Butterfield on video like this. An honour.
That was cool. Worth a second watch! 😎
Nice! Thanks.

The great Chris Parker on drums
Just Wow!!🤩

The original band back in the day had Mike Broomfield and Elvin Bishop.
I didn't know they did this
I know howlin Wolf of course his version in black and white from that TV special awesome back around 1966
Love butter
Go Amos go!

I never heard a harmonica called a harp before, I didn't know what Janis Joplin was saying sounded like harpoon in Bobby McGee

Somethin' SPECIAL when he blows on that harp...

@@shipsahoy1793 thank you
I bet the crew had to take a nap for a month after that performance.
Has a country vibe
Who's the guitar player, that's not Mike Bloomfield
It looks like Amos Garrett playing his Epiphone Sheraton that he used on Midnight at the Oasis.
Karen Carpenter was a good drummer!
I'm pretty sure that's not her🙄
@ me too🤣😂🤷🏼♂️
Great jam and not a musician in black. Must be a union thing nowadays
The Bassplayer is black
