    I have an xtool D1 pro and just started using a roller. I have had difficulty finding the receiver for the y-axis until I watched your video....when your mentioned your "fat fingers." I had seen those plugs but didn't pay much attention. After seeing your video, I went out to my workbench...looked more closely at the plugs that were in that skinny corner...and saw the smallest y and x ever. Thank you for your help! My laser is happily working with the roller now. Yay!

    Thanks to you Paw Paw, I managed to assemble the D1 frame without a hitch. The belt however gave me fits. It somehow got stuck and I could not get it freed. I turned the laser on its side and gently pulled on the belt and it finally gave. Scared me to death, thought I did some damage. I'm extremely new at this laser thing, so I was super careful. When folks such as myself do not have a clue as to laser, belts and what not, a very close up visual is soooo helpful. Your video got me through this...now I'm on a coffee break. LOL Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge for dummies like me. Very grateful for your knowledge and patience.

    *Excellent build video Paw Paw!* It's a well built laser for sure, but I think it was launched a little too soon. I have had several people tell me they have had problems with it loosing loosing the home position, and the lack of limit switches compounds that problem. Also, moving the gantry by hand can throw off the square. Nicely built, some great new features, but not ready for prime time IMO. Just like most diode lasers.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching my video. In many of the videos I show how to tension the belts. On these simple diode lasers all you need to do is to tip up the laser and let the gantry slide down. It should move slowly down. If it does not move, belts too tight. If it just falls, belts too loose. The laser should be tilted to about 45 degrees

    Hello! I am having issues with my Xtool D1 Pro Laser. I received it and tried it, the first try was perfect. Then the second time I tried it wouldn't work. The laser would move around but the laser light barely had any strength. It would move around as if it was doing the job and would take the amount of time the project would take, however there were no marks on the plywood or anything and the light was very very weak. You could barely see. I emailed customer service and it has now been a 3 month battle or recommendations and changes they want me to make which I have but nothing has solved the issue. I went ahead and tried another laser head which is the one for metals. I did 1 dog tag that came out beautiful. I went ahead and tried to do another dog tag....same thing happened....the light was too weak barely visible, the laser would move around as if it was doing de project but nothing would engrave. I didn't change anything on the setting from first project to second. I was working with pre-establish material settings. Power speed and all was verified and still nothing. Do you have any idea what it could be or how to fix it?

      That does seem odd to only have made one engraving. Are you using air assist? Have you looked at the lens to see if it is dirty? If all that is ok, I would next look for loose connections to the laser to the control board. Then, there is a possibility of a bad control board

    Great Video and as usual, a lot of really good information. You said you didn't like the cable location. Viewing the video, it seems that the cable should be able to run ABOVE the maker slide.And then secure with cable ties. Am I missing something that would not permit that kind of config to be used. It seems that it would eliminate your concern about the cable moving into the work area and possibly being cut during an operation.

    It sounds Impressive if it can nearly cut through 3mm ply in 1 pass!
    The machine looks good, simple, clean design. I agree the loose cabling will be a problem. I assumed during installation that the flat ribbon cable would have acted like a drag chain. But effectively it needs cable tie almost up to half way on both X & Y. And flat ribbon will say aligned straight.
    Neat flip out measure tool, but you didn't say how to adjust. I assume a lock nut on the sliding dovetail??

    HI, PawPaw...I need a little help. I'm new to anything laser, so please bear with me. I've had my machine xtool d1 for serveral months, and because just recently I managed to figure out why my Laser head kept crashing and believe me if you see the head on the left side of that laser you would cringe. I have thirteen hits on that and it is marked for proof. Well, I also have a camera set up and was trying to figure why the alignment is ALWAYS off.....conclusion, the laser hit the rails so many times that the Gantry is now out of alignment. What I'm confused about now is how to square up the Gantry. It is off by a 5 to 6 mm on the Left side (looking at it from the front of the machine) and I'm not sure what screws I need to loosen or tighten to square it up. I've followed you on the set up (thank you for that) and all was well for me. Except for the crashes that threw it all off. Your answer, Paw Paw will help a whole bunch of D1 users out there that use LightBurn and have the same issues as I have. Just as a side note: LightBurn is a not a bad software...but Jason is trying to serve all LASERS and CO2's; and newbie's such as myself are not putting in the correct figures in for the D1, so no one wants to use it. Sorry, this is turned into a book...but you explain things so well....

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that is a lot to be out of square. It seems to be all on one point. If you recall when you assembled the machine the screws that attached the y axis rail to the x axis rail on the back of the machine. You may have damaged to screw hole or maybe even broken it. You will need to loosen that area first to see the internal damage. The machine was designed to go together square. This damage has caused it to be that far out may result in having to replace parts. When you take apart the corner and see the damage please let me know and I’ll try to give solutions to repair it

    • @kittyrings
      @kittyrings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PawPawsWorkShop Paw Paw, I have figured out that after 8 hours of rebuilding the Xtool D1, and reinstalling the software, (even taken the time to go through the registry on Windows 10, to make sure ALL of the software was gone) that LightBurn kept reading the measurements of the bed bigger than it was, and for some reason it did seem to think that what measurement was in for a cut or burn was wrong and did its own thing. Why so many crashes. Well, the machine is not damaged (that was really scaring me to death, I've lot invested in that unit) and I've squared it up and double checked. I ran a small test burn today, coaster with a graphic in the center, and it framed it NORMAL, and engraved it perfectly. One thing that occurred to me was when I first loaded the software , I did not have my virus software turned on...this is usual however with a lot programs so after the installs I always turn it back on. Well, this time I left my virus software running as usual, and there was no issue. It is quite possible that a virus attached itself to the software and caused it to act wonky, it is of course my opinion. I watched your assembly video on the D1 and assembled exactly and now it's burned into memory.
