KyUtlrEm Senpai speaking of it, Grave Of The Fireflies is Number 3 on my favourite films. And my second favourite Studio Ghibli film. Whisper Of The Heart is my favourite Studio Ghibli film which is my 2nd favourite film.

The cat bus is a "death coach" so no I don't want to NEED a cat bus until I'm very old. It is piloted by a shinigami and has a close relationship with the spirits in the film because of it's purpose. In the end it escorts the girls to death with their mother soon to join them.
That was my least favourite one it didn’t have a interesting plot it was just about saving that old gym I believe I forgot but other than that it didn’t compare to any other studio ghibli anime movie
Up on Poppy Hill and When Marnie was there should have been in the honorable mentions too :/ Up on Poppy Hill is my favorite Ghibli movie, with Spirited Away VERY close behind, and When Marnie was there made me cry so bad but it's also a very beautiful movie. @@pacifistpanda14 just out of curiosity: what did you like that much about up on Poppy Hill? I've watched it once and didn't really enjoy the storyline because there was no "magic" in it (that was just what I expected because of a lot of other Ghibli films)
I am Japanese. When I was a child, I used to watch Ghibli films thinking that they were mysterious and very interesting stories. But when I watched them as an adult, I was moved to tears by the care and effort of the characters, which I did not notice when I was a child. I think the charm of Ghibli films is that they can be enjoyed regardless of age. Sorry if my translation is poor.
"The Tale of Princess Kaguya" is so underrated. So many people have never seen it. Beautiful, Deep and amazing story, Brillant.. I will never forget it. Easy in my top 3 of Ghibli movies or anime in general. If you haven't seen it, go watch it NOW !
*essay coming* okay look- i get that, but uh- When Marnie Was There left me with so much confusion, the story was... interesting, yet everything else just kinda felt dull. probably because im more into action and that was barely shown, and as well as there was this lesbian incest vibe coming from the two, although that could easily just be them being so close. Anna and Marnie had a great story, but i wouldnt put it in my top 10, probably rate it a 4 out of 10 if movies like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are rated 10/10. When Marnie Was There is so boring compared to Howl's Moving Castle. It lacked many things, like why were the relatives of Anna so laid back, like wouldn't they at least look for her instead of leaving her outside? like, shes 12. Anna disliked her adoptive mother because she found out that she was only getting paid for it, where as if she wasn't her adopted daughter, she wouldn't get paid. Why is that a reason to dislike someone that has raised you? it was all very confusing. I wouldn't say it is trash, yet i wouldn't say its gold.
I knew Spirited Away would be number 1 cause even after all the other films I've seen, it's still the first film that comes to my mind whenever I see or hear the words Studio Ghibli. Not only that, it was the film that introduced me to the legendary film studios in the first place and even after almost 20 years is still one of the most amazingly stunning and beautifully animated films I have EVER seen!

bongokhrusha yeah some great voices and some improved music in the Disney dub. Think I prefer the original because pazu and sheeta sound much more intended age and some moments on laputa didn't need the added music. Also nostalgia!

The tale of Princess Kaguya My favourite anime’s in order from Ghibli Studios 😊 (Still Crying because of ‘The Wind Rises and ‘The Grave Of Fireflies’)
One thing i love about Ghibli movies, is that the animation is so goddamn gorgeous. From Howl's Moving Castle, to Ponyo. This studio is not just an amazing studio, IT IS THE BEST STUDIO, I MEAN, WHO WOULDN'T LIVE IN HOWL'S NEW CASTLE!?!?!?!
“Only Yesterday” was it for me. I always have the biggest smile at the ending scene when taeko decides to go back and her 5th grade self and classmates are pushing her to go back...
My list will be:- 10. The Cat Returns 09. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 08. The Wind Rises 07. Castle in the Sky 06. Howl's Moving Castle 05. Kiki's Delivery Service 04. My Neighbor Totoro 03. Grave of the Fireflies 02. Spirited Away 01. Princess Mononoke
For me, Princess Mononoke was my introduction to the world of Studio Ghibli; I remember seeing the VHS/DVD on the shelf in my local library as a kid, and seeing as wolves are one of my favourite animals it's no wonder I borrowed it and haven't regretted it since. Thanks for the awesome childhood Miyazaki and Ghibli.
I was fortunate to have one of my USC Teachers be one of the artists in Howls Moving Castle and in two Pixar movies...she even proved it to me by showing me a quick Pixar documentary video she was interviewed in.
There is absolutely nothing that can remotely touch studio ghibli's thrown. It transcends the "anime" category into just an all out fantastic animated art form. ❤

My favourites from those that I've watched 1. Spirited Away 2. Princess Mononoke 3. Kiki's Delivery Service 4. Arriety 5. Howl's Moving Castle 6. My Neighbour Totoro Grave of the Fireflies is in a different category for me because I didn't enjoy it one bit, it was only heartbreaking😭💔

I lived Spirited Away. It was the movie I remembered fondly because how I first stumbled upon it. It was a rainy night and my parents weren't home, and I was beginning to feel worried. So I turned on the TV in the living room so that I could distract myself. The movie was just beginning, and I decided to just watch it with my brother. Because its ending was happy, I knew for a fact that everything will always work out in the end, so I should never be worried.
Had a studio ghibli marathon the other day with my cousin... It ended with us watching Grave of the Fireflies... I loved that film years ago but promised I'd never watch it again... Now that I'm older, it hurts even more... Such a masterpiece...
Princess Mononoke has always been my favourite, I just love it. I'm not surprised it was second and Spirited Away was first but I love the themes. And Grave of the Fireflies had me crying so much, I don't think any film has made me cry like that, I don't think I could handle watching it again.
Only yesterday is my favourite tbh it showed how bitter sweet youth can be, as a lot of the young moments felt real as they didn't feel like a happy ending conclusion to them
I absolutely love Howl’s moving castle! Sofie was cursed by witch of west but sometimes she turned back to young or turned into old woman again. So I think the most worst curse is that we unconsciously curse ourselves like “I am not beautiful” not cursed by someone else. It’s easy to cure curse if you can think you’re beautiful. If not you can’t let your curse and keep holding it till you die. Even when Howl told Sofie that she’s beautiful, she turned into old again. Cause Sofie didn’t think she’s beautiful. So you have to think and believe yourself and it’ll be your confidence and energy to live in this world.

7. Grave of the fireflies
8. Grave of the fireflies
9. Grave of the fireflies
10. Grave of the fireflies
There you go, i fixed the list for you :)
Hold up. 11.When Marine was There
I feel like Arietty deserves to be in top 10 list, the soundtrack and the story is just too beautiful!! 💜
Spirited Away is my all time favorite Studio Ghibli movie, though there are a ton that I still haven't seen. Now I want to have a SG marathon!
Besides if I'm not mistaken "Spirited Away" is the only Anime film in the official "100 movies to see before you die" list
Tbh more studio Ghibli movies should've been on it aswell
It's truly a great movie
I remember watching Nausicaa on Japanese TV when my family vacationed there in '75 or '76. It's always held fond memories for me. ❤️
I went into depression after watching Grave of the fireflies 💔💔😞😞
Same
The end result of war?
Dead Children.
Actually ,I cried a lot with tears after watching this
Despite castle in the sky influencing literally every single ghibli movie to come after it, I still think it is criminally underrated
Wtf ponyo should of been on the list not an "Honorable mention"
Sara Smiles :D "should of" really...
agreed
Should have, not should of.
I know!
Sara Ruiz my childhood
Castle in the sky no.1 for me
possibly my favourite movie of all time. Original English dub though.
me too. I love the movie the best out of all even though the others are amazing. english dub is great too with mark hamill.
I love it as well, But like the English Dubs on Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind dubs more. Can't really beat Patrick Stewart, Uma Thurman among others.
English dub is amazing. And soundtrack is completed too.
bongokhrusha yeah some great voices and some improved music in the Disney dub. Think I prefer the original because pazu and sheeta sound much more intended age and some moments on laputa didn't need the added music. Also nostalgia!
Spirited away is still giving me creeps, even today, 15 years after I watched it
Nikola Jovanović Definitivno se slažem jedan od najčudnijih filmova svih vremene, ja sam ga gledao pre nekih 10 god
'Nausica of the Valley of the Wind' For me it's one of the most beautiful anime's I've seen
my favorite movie
It did get mentioned. At number 5.
@@roblobster10 well that’s embarrassing. Shows that I didn’t watch it properly…and should delete my comment anaw. Lol
When Marnie Was There should have been at least on honorable mention...
It's one of the few anime films that nominated for the Oscar.
When Marnie was There should have had an honorable mention at least :(
exactly ):
yes it's an underrated movie
mkitten13 yes its like the best ghibli movie its amazing i looooove it
Marnie should have been in the top 10. It was was better than Kiki's
@@geoffreypowers4871 I really adore Kiki's as well. But yeah, Marnie definitely should have been in the top 10
His voice wavers at 3:58-I think Grave of the Fireflies got to him.
You gotta love his enthusiasm when talking about Castle in the Sky, though. :-)
I thought so too
Laputa...#8!? My eyes!...I can't see!
Ikr it deserves number 3 princess mononoke 1 and spirited away 2
@@lanzones6856 most of the people didnt even watch castle in the sky.. its super amazing but underrated .. so sad

The Grave of the Fireflies made me cry for hours, saddest movie I've ever Seen. But where's When Marnie Was There?
"Akira is my favorite Miyazaki film"
**gets murdered by angry mob**
I don't think Akira wasn't made by Miyazaki.
Mariah Kelso
whoosh
Akira is a great anime
Mariah Kelso it’s Katsuhiro Otomo who made it. Also made the manga.
Here's a question, do you prefer akira to any of the studio ghibli films?
Princess Monoke is the best
*Mononoke
For me "when Marnie was there" was the best. I am aware that's only my opinion however and an unpopular one at that
NO
Nausicaä is better
I mean, it's GOAT
No.

(Still Crying because of ‘The Wind Rises and ‘The Grave Of Fireflies’)
"The Wind Rises" is artistically a masterpiece. Well, all of the Studio Ghibli films are. But that one seems to be my current age's favorite pick
Let’s give some appreciation for Joe Hisaishi too ❤️
Vistheweirdo the guy is a genius! One of the best composers of all time❤️
some of the mos beautiful and moving music I've ever heard. Truly one the best composers
When Marnie Was There made me cry the most
Same. It’s my favourite ghibli movie. It’s honestly really relatable
Same
I watched it shortly after my grandma died, so yeah, that movie means a lot to me.
YAAAAAAAAS

For me, Princess Mononoke was my introduction to the world of Studio Ghibli; I remember seeing the VHS/DVD on the shelf in my local library as a kid, and seeing as wolves are one of my favourite animals it's no wonder I borrowed it and haven't regretted it since.
Thanks for the awesome childhood Miyazaki and Ghibli.
surprised to not see "when marnie was there" on the list not even on honorable mentions..man that movie is amazing. *chef kiss*

I was fortunate to have one of my USC Teachers be one of the artists in Howls Moving Castle and in two Pixar movies...she even proved it to me by showing me a quick Pixar documentary video she was interviewed in.
Aww... You're so lucky
For me Howl's moving castle and spirited away are my two favourite i cant choose which one
'When marnie was there' is probably the most underrated ghibli film, please consider watching it if you haven't already.

There is absolutely nothing that can remotely touch studio ghibli's thrown. It transcends the "anime" category into just an all out fantastic animated art form. ❤

Me to there also in my top 3 but my neighbor totoro is the best
Based Mononokehime enjoyer. I too knew it would be #2 but still hoped it would be #1
Only yesterday is my favourite tbh it showed how bitter sweet youth can be, as a lot of the young moments felt real as they didn't feel like a happy ending conclusion to them
Porco Rosso is extremely underrated. Should have been number one on the list. It’s such a masterpiece
My top 3.
1. Howl's moving castle.
2. Spirited away.
3. Grave of fireflies.
Apart from that, all Ghibli movies are just the level of masterpiece. ❤️
