Great info and, always, your presentation is much appreciated. One clarification... at 6:20 minutes you recommend tapping the "f" button in the Edit feature to blur the background, rather than shooting in the Portrait mode for blurring. However, that "f" button isn't available when you select the HEIF Max option. It does appear if you select ProRAW Max.
Definitely strange. Just double-checked. No "f" button in HEIF Max, and now no "f" in ProRAW Max. I must've toggled something in between first check and last. This is going to take more experimenting.
This was too helpful and I’m actually setting my camera while watching this. Thanks for this, Simon. I subscribed to your channel for your future videos.
I’m confused now regarding the “High efficiency and most compatible”.. Even if I select “High efficiency” and I shoot my videos in apple log (422) will they still come out in HEVC? I’m completely new to videography
I was looking at your video, wow good job sir! Was wondering if I’m the only one (iPhone 15 pro) that has the famous bug of that when I open photo from gallery it doesn’t show at full quality I have to pinch and zoom in and then back to the normal zoom to acquire full quality otherwise if I close the photo and re open it it’s the same , it’s like kinda blurry or not at the full quality pls help 😪
Is Profoto the only way to professional hss iPhone photography. I have Godox x2 pro but can’t find out how to use the flash with an app via Bluetooth in some type of manual mode in the photo
I bought Iphone 15 pro this week and the back camera was so great and overall the phone felt good and was nice looking phone but had to just return the phone because the front camera was so bad compared to the Iphone 14
Just come across this video and being new to the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, I was really confused about its camera and video features. I have leant so much watching this and have subscribed to your channel. Amazing, easy to understand and perfectly explained tutorial - thank so so much !

Very good I still have a “ problem “ with the picture quality. I upgraded from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max. And by the 12 I could do the picture and almost all was sharp and full focused. Less then 10% of the pictures was not good enough for me. But with 15 pro max I would say almost 30% is not good enough for me. I use mostly the same settings from my 12 pro max but I’m straggling to get then good pics out of my 15pro max
on all formats? Most compatible? You can try adding sharpening if it's a focus issue. The 15PM cannot focus as closely as the 12PM, so any near objects are more likely out of focus
I’m having the same issues with my pro. The pictures are horrible for some reason. The video is fine. The pictures seems blurry and like paint brushed smooth
@@danby7461 good for you I checked I’m on the lasted iOS 17.2.1. .. in my case no improvement. I’m disappointed with my iPhone. As i said before with my 12PM ( where I made thousands of pictures) I could really use it just as true point and shoot camera. Almost all pictures was bang on .. with the 15PM it’s really bad. Even when I just use the main camera what had the “ best “ lenses. Even this picture are not really good. I was reading a lot of the them issue from some other people. Even few went to Apple Store and there was no help from the support stuff. They said everything is ok .. unfortunately I can only see it when I see my pictures on the bigger screen. And then they look shit. Before I ( must ) delete them I go back all the time to my pictures what I did with my 12PM under roughly the same conditions. And the 15PM looks not good. I did few telephoto pictures by super weather conditions ( blue sky and sunny ) they are good. But the rest .. I’m disappointed
Wow I love the look of your video at 0:09 and was wondering how it was achieved, with a log/lut combination or did you shoot in maybe in the standard camera app as a rec709 and did a lot of color grading magic or ....? Now that I think about it, isn't that look the highly popular "Orange and Teal" color grade look?
HEIF used be very difficult to share to social media platforms, but many more platforms support it these days. HEIF saves about 50% in terms of file sizes over JPEG at the same quality, but you still might find some platforms don't accept it
Hi! I loved this video! So informative and calming. I have a question. When I’m on Portrait mode it take a picture that I love, but when I look back at it oh photos it has changed and it looks like HDR. But I have not figured out how to atop that from happening. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!
Hi, excellent video thank you. I just purchased an iphone 15 pro specifically for my business which is building gaming desktop computers and selling them online. However I seem to be getting the same issue as my iphone 11 when taking photo's for the adverts. The RGB lighting on the moving computer fans is coming out blurred and not clear in the pictures, also the colour representation is not accurate at all, the luminance of the RGB in the computer i'm taking photo's of seems to be overwhelming. I'm a total novice when it comes to photography, wonder if you could offer some advise please?
Nice tips, thank You. I have an advice too - if You live in country which use PAL/SECAM TV standard (and also have 50 Hz AC) - it's better to set in options PAL video with 25 or 50 frames per second. Especially when You record displays, monitors etc.
Here I am looking to make content for my coffee station at home, and this video made me change so many settings in hopes to improve my video taking skills. Cheers and thanks for the detailed video without having to make things seem so complicated
This is very detailed which is cool. I'm not a professional but with this video I learned a lot. Your voice sounds like a NatGeo narrator which is cool btw. It's not so fast and it makes me want to listen to every word you say. I'm waiting for my iphone 15 pro max to arrive and I can't wait to apply these tutorials of yours. New subscriber here!
Sir,,In my 15 pro max,,when i open the camera it look very good,,but after the campure the picture is not so much good as seen in camera..What can i do..?
I don't know if you mentioned it or if it's written somewhere but I was wondering what is the software you're using to edit your videos? For example the one at 9:45. Thanks in advance!
how is the aliasing in 10 bit? on minute 10:30 with your beard looks insane... do you think in general can it be good enough as a B-cam for pro work mixing with let's say Sony s-log or Raw formats? (with adequate lighting of course..)
that shot is from the lesser quality front camera with cinematic mode switched on. I only use smartphones for all my work, so for me it's an A cam. To get the cleanest image on a new iPhone you need to use Apple Log which switches off the dynamic tone mapping
Thanks for sharing your knowledge here Simon. I've learnt a lot. I've come from an iPhone12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. Thanks to you I'm enjoying the new features. Can I ask, what video editing software are you using? You say using the "slow motion" option on the phone only records up to 1080p. So you just record in 4k 60fps then slow the speed down in the editing software. What was it please? Thanks. Pete.
@@HorrocksoniPhone hey, I've followed these settings and when I make a video and transfer to pc, they're coming up as square videos even though it's 4k what am I doing wrong?
thanks for the video. Have a question... I have seen people have a 'PRO' shooting mode above the shutter button where TIME LAPSE SLO-MO CINEMATIC VIDEO PHOTO is situated. When they click is goes into manual settings like ISO SHUTTER SPEED etc have you seen or heard of that? I have a 15 Pro Max and have tweaked all settings to pro bu no such shooting mode. HELP PLEASE 🙏
Your videos are very clear and concise. Refreshing to see a calm videographer on TH-cam rather than “WHATS GOIN ON GUYYYZZZZ! ITS YOUR BOY…” I do have a quick question. What are the benefits for using the 30fps setting over 24? Keep up the great work.
I honestly couldn't do that if I wanted to lol My reason for using 30fps is it's slightly more flexible than 24fps. Its requires slightly less motion blur to look smooth, which means less demanding on shutter speed. There's not a huge difference in the way they look and the only reason we use 24fps is because 100 years ago that was the best compromise for a mechanical device. 30fps would have made every movie cost 30% more because of the extra film stock and each reel of film would have lasted 15% less time which would have slowed down productions, then it would've been more demanding on the camera tech of the time and so on etc etc. Then it just stuck as the "movie look".
@@HorrocksoniPhone Thank you for the reply and history lesson. I remember being taught years ago that 24fps was the sweet spot for fluid motion. Just enough frames to trick our brains. It makes complete sense from a cost point of view plus slowing down production. I remember hearing Peter Jackson and James Cameron giving a talk probably just after Avatar was released 10+ years ago. They spoke about the digital era would enable films to be shot at much higher frame rates. I could be wrong but I’m sure they suggested 120 frames. I don’t think that future has arrived yet
@dhandley22 yes there have been experiments with 48fps which haven't been successful so far. So 120fps would be a bigger change. Video starts to look more glossy and polished, but maybe a little less romantic. 24fps is still used by most filmmakers for movies and film-look docs & dramas
Hi! HELP PLEASE. I just got this phone and your video has been super informative thus far. I have a question though, is there anyway to shoot a picture or video up close without using macro mode? I shoot images and videos really close to hands (manicurist) and I’m having the hardest time figuring out how to do that without using the macro mode. I don’t like the macro mode shots I’ve gotten and I am becoming really frustrated with it 😢 on my old phone I could just put it up close to the object and it was fine to just point and shoot. Is there anyway I can do something like that with this phone?
the new iPhones don't allow macro with the main camera, and they have bigger minimum focus distance. One option would be to buy a macro conversion lens to place over the iPhone main camera
You should change the title of this video, lots of people make "the best settings for... Or tips and tricks" I never watch them and I accidently watched yours (came on automatically) YOUR VIDEO BEATS ALL THE REST BY MILES!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! 👌👌 TOTAL QUALITY - subscribed
Hi Simon, I noticed that you had the 14 pro in some of your previous videos and opted for the 15 pro this year. Did you have a chance to use both Pro and PM and decide on the pro? Or do you just prefer the 77mm tele and smaller form factor?
Do you use any of the various lens/filter systems for photography. There are a few different systems like freewell or prophoto or moment. Do you recommend any ecosystem to jump into?
I’ve got the 15 pro max and I’m a little confused about using the 5x camera. When I’m going to lock in a photo with AF Lock on a subject that’s far away but want something in the foreground that’s a little in frame and blurry, I’ve noticed the camera does some weird shifting. Maybe it’s switching camera because it thinks the objects that are close should be in focus or something?. I never had this problem on my old 12 pro max. Any idea what is happening and how to stop it?. Thanks
Love your pacing and your vibe! I'm struggling to find my pace and voic on my youtube channel - but I believe I'm getting closer! Anyway, great work! You're on your way! Super informative, educational, and pleasing to watch.

Sir,,In my 15 pro max,,when i open the camera it look very good,,but after the campure the picture is not so much good as seen in camera..What can i do..?
loved your video very much! I like how chilly it is and by the way it's a beautiful place where you live
Thank you so much!
I don't know if you mentioned it or if it's written somewhere but I was wondering what is the software you're using to edit your videos? For example the one at 9:45. Thanks in advance!

Your informational videos are amazing and always appreciated. Hard to believe how much technology is in these phones.
thank you! Yes, quite incredible these devices we carry around in our pockets
Thank you. I learned a lot from your video.
Excellent video! I learned a lot. Thank you!
Brilliant Tutorial Simon! Your knowledge is vast and the laidback manner in which you deliver makes things easy to understand…Thank You!!
Glad to hear, thank you!
❣️❣️❣️ soothing visuals… super grading…
how is the aliasing in 10 bit? on minute 10:30 with your beard looks insane...
do you think in general can it be good enough as a B-cam for pro work mixing with let's say Sony s-log or Raw formats? (with adequate lighting of course..)
that shot is from the lesser quality front camera with cinematic mode switched on. I only use smartphones for all my work, so for me it's an A cam. To get the cleanest image on a new iPhone you need to use Apple Log which switches off the dynamic tone mapping
Got me a fresh iPhone 15 Pro, and this helped me out a lot, truly underrated. subbed a @7K hope it goes a long way
Thanks for sharing your knowledge here Simon. Thanks. Pete.
hi Pete. I'm using CapCut
@@HorrocksoniPhone Thanks for that fast response! Next silly question. Is that on your Mac or iPhone? Thanks.

What video editing software is it that you keep showing, such as at 11:45. Is it Sony Vegas if not, is it better than sony vegas?
CapCut for Desktop. capcut.onelink.me/sjnC/SH
@@HorrocksoniPhone thank you, would you say it's better than Sony Vegas or no?
@@spiderdemon666 I haven't used Sony Vegas, so I can't tell you. But CapCut is free so you give it a try
HELP PLEASE 🙏
there is no pro mode in iPhones. You will need a third party app or an Android
Your videos are very clear and concise. Refreshing to see a calm videographer on TH-cam rather than “WHATS GOIN ON GUYYYZZZZ! ITS YOUR BOY…”
I do have a quick question. What are the benefits for using the 30fps setting over 24?
Keep up the great work.
I honestly couldn't do that if I wanted to lol
My reason for using 30fps is it's slightly more flexible than 24fps.
Is the camera alot better than the 11pm ? I’m tempted to upgrade as I take a lot of nature photography and landscapes
It's definitely an upgrade from the 11pm
Amazing tutorial Simon, I love it. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Can I shoot video from i phone 15 pro and edit it in the phone itself? Is there any application for editing in 15 pro? Reply please. 12:34 12:34
iMovie is Apple, or use an app like LumaFusion, VN, CapCut and so on

Hi Simon, I noticed that you had the 14 pro in some of your previous videos and opted for the 15 pro this year. Did you have a chance to use both Pro and PM and decide on the pro? Or do you just prefer the 77mm tele and smaller form factor?
Another hit tutorial! Kudos!
Thank you! I have learned a lot from you
Thanks for the video,
What is the name of the editting software?

AMAZING VIDEOOO sooo soo helpful, concise, and beautifully shot! thank you 🤍
Thank you very much for this grate video, Simon! Helped me a lot with all this settings on iPhone! Wish you all the best. 😊
Glad it helped!
Thats great sir 🌸🙏
Do you use any of the various lens/filter systems for photography. There are a few different systems like freewell or prophoto or moment. Do you recommend any ecosystem to jump into?
I talk about them here th-cam.com/video/uRC_O61fbwo/w-d-xo.html
I’ve got the 15 pro max and I’m a little confused about using the 5x camera. When I’m going to lock in a photo with AF Lock on a subject that’s far away but want something in the foreground that’s a little in frame and blurry, I’ve noticed the camera does some weird shifting. Maybe it’s switching camera because it thinks the objects that are close should be in focus or something?. I never had this problem on my old 12 pro max. Any idea what is happening and how to stop it?. Thanks
Thanks so much for these tips ❤️
Thank you from 🇬🇷
