When I hear melodies like this from Nick, even if it isn't the first time, they're still almost unbelievable to me. I've never felt so much emotion from a single guitar.

    • @bmxmyth166
      @bmxmyth166 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I remember the first time I heard Sketch 1 (An outtake of this, I was very happy to find out there was a full version), and I heard the little sliding melody at 0:03 seconds, I just got so overwhelmed with emotion, I got so choked up and pretty much started crying. I felt like I had heard that melody somewhere before, and it had just been subconsciously sitting in the back of my mind waiting to be realized. Never had I heard so much bliss and emotion coming from a guitar, let alone an acoustic. He was an incredibly special person, to say the least.

Absolutely man . I always listen to John martyn and nick drake when I go on country walks with my dad in Surrey. We drive down from London and blast those tunes to get ourselves In the rambling mood. Some of my favourite memories are walking around the devils punch bowl with family friends and then going to country pubs after to celebrate my birthday with them. Translated from google translator. If it has been translated correctly, then this is the poem in the setno about Nikc Drake. Because if not those who do not know, he died early in his youth, partly because of his addictions as an underrated artist. I also change the Polish version below.
    This quiet music
    I'm stuck somewhere in history
    he is breathing today
    and he feels free again
    This music, this music
    carries in trees
    the cloud disappears, disappears
    time is blurred
    you will remember sometime
    Nick Drake who he was
    you will remember then
    just roadside dust
    Ta cicha muzyka
    utknąłem gdzieś w historii
    dziś oddycha
    i znów czuje się wolnym
    Ta muzyka, ta muzyka
    niesie się w drzewach
    obłok znika, znika
    czas się zaciera
    wspomnisz kiedyś
    Nick Drake kim był
    zapamietasz wtedy
    tylko przydrożny pył

@@sutcliffe62 Hiya! Like everything he played from the time he started releasing albums, it's one of his own compositions (up till about 18 he mainly learned and played covers of many of the 60's folk legends). It's on a bootleg, "A Day Gone By", which I've never seen, but if you are starting/wanting to learn it - like me - the tabs are on the Nick Drake tabs site of Chris Healey. I've just noticed a guy playing it here "Far Leys Nick Drake"; don't know how good it is, but it might be useful, as it's a lot of work to learn!
