I've been eye-balling this Tag Aquaracer (White version) for a long time. And to me it just looks like a great designed diver. On top of that the price seems like a good deal. Think about it. This Aquaracer is half or even less than half the cost of an Omega Seamaster which in itself is half the cost of a Rolex Sub. So if you want to spend $2,500 more for a wavy patterned dial and a helium release valve Omega is the way to go. But I'll take this Tag, go to the Bahamas with the money I saved, and know I'm wearing a great watch to dive the reef!
Roamy360 I agree, the 41mm Aquaracer is an awesome watch. More sporty than the seamaster, which is too dressy imo. Did you get the aquaracer?
@@Ferien7 Thanks for the reply: I have not gotten the White Aquaracer yet. Thought I found a pre-owned for a screaming deal, got very excited, only to realize it was the Quartz version. I couldn't believe that that I didn't even read the fine print or notice that "Caliber 5" wasn't written on it. I must be excited about this watch.
@guess what A new aquaracer costs $2550. A lightly used one can be found for $1300-1500. Tags never hold their value (other than Monaco). Which is why it's a great idea to buy used. And I don't know what you do, but 2500 dollars is not "cheap" by any means.
@guess what where can you find those prices? Ebay? I was super excited to buy one, but then I realized the one I was looking at was only the 41mm version (assumed it was bigger) my hand is huge so I was kinda disappointed. Not really sure what to do now

Really nice review Rob. My first serious watch was a quartz TAG Heuer 1500, its now almost 25 years old and still working just fine. After a shitload of more expensive (and more problematic) Swiss automatics i’ve bought a 41 mm quartz Aquaracer about 2 years ago and couldn’t be happier. Awesome watch and awesome value (plastic spacer and all😉) Keep up the good work and greetings from the Netherlands.

I have this exact watch. Awesome watch. Super comfortable to wear. The bracelet is awesome. The case and bezel is awesome. Tag Heuer is a great Swiss watch. And yeah the Lume is outstanding!A very nice ETA 2824-2 inside.
Clearly an exceptionally well-refined manufacturing process - the details might not jump out at you, but they add up to a watch that's so well put-together. Nice review!
Love Tag Heuer! Glad to see a great review on the aquaracer and yes the crowns on my pair of tags don’t wobble in the slightest. Tight tolerances.

How much did the service cost?
I own one. I had to send it back under warrantee to have the movement worked on. Having said that it is an extremely well made watch and a perfect size. The bezel is great and the screw down crown is the best I have ever had. When you hold the watch you can tell the quality.The bracelet is extremely comfortable. Some watch snobs trash Heuer, but they have been around a long time and have made some of the most iconic watches.
James Peters what was wrong with the movement? Did it get fixed?
Tag makes a great watch as I have several that have been worn hard and never have missed a beat including an aquaracer. I see comments concerning this polymer spacer vs a metal one. The plastic/polymer spacer fits tighter and doesn’t deform when removed. It also absorbs shock better. It’s not to save money as really is it even saving money on a build?

Tag and the aquaracer get a bad rep but I think this watch is lovely. Personally I like the steel bezel version.

I have the 2010 model of this watch with the visual movement. I love it.

I have the exact watch in black dial. With the deep grooves in the dial material when you're outdoors or in bright light, the face color changes from black to silver because you see the inner side of the grooves. It runs -2 seconds a day when worn or if left off the wrist it runs +4 seconds a day. If this watch said "Heuer" instead of TAG Heuer it would sell for much more and if it had an in house movement the watch would sell at $5K all day. The finishing and materials as well as performance are truly great. If anyone is at all interested I can promise you'll love it. Great review as well
I love this watch! I have the rubber, sail cloth, and a custom leather to go on the deployment and it looks great with all of them. This, the Rolex explorer and the Tudor BB58 are my three favorites of my collection. Tag is very underrated (though they do have a tendency of shooting themselves in the foot with some of their design choices)!
How do you find the sail cloth, I find it extremely stiff and uncomfortable.
I just use a nato if not on the bracelet, and the sail cloth and clasp just sit in a box never to be used again.
I tried on this Tag and the Omega Seamaster back to back in two different stores in February 2022. Both were on blue rubber straps so I can’t comment on differences between the bracelets.
Honestly, I’d be happy with either of them!
I really liked the case shape of the Tag. I was impressed that it was multi faceted. It seemed to me that a lot of thought had gone into the design. Additionally, the teak planked dial was well executed. Honestly, it just seemed like it was punching above it’s weight. I think it’s a good value.
The Omega was gorgeous. The (lyre) lugs and the indices were l more refined. Similar proportions to the Tag.
I would not be disappointed if I came home with the Tag instead of the Omega. By the way, I prefer the indices on this Tag to the smaller (round) indices on the new model.
The Omega is class. The Tag is God Tier!!! 😂😁

I almost pulled the trigger on this watch, nice looking and not a bad price. I went with an Omega Professional instead. I'd still pick up one of these.
I have the same watch but with the black dial and I never realised the hook on the 1; learning new things about a watch I have had for nearly 5years!
I love tags and vintage heuer's. My boss has one of these and has a rolex skydweller, while I have a casio g-shock g-000 mudman haha oh well.
I own the Black version of this watch and the blue quartz. I absolutely love them both and they both see plenty of wrist time in a collection that includes Rolex and Tudor

Ferien7 well in my opinion the Tudor will be a better watch. I own the BB41 and LOVE it. The BB58 May be my next purchase

Not too many divers out there to compete with this particular blue dial 40,5 mm Aquaracer. This rich blue color is something special. The proportions of this watch are stunning - not too many contemporary dive watches would fit a 6-7 inch wrist as good not to mention the deployment clasp in the rubber version of this watch - you can literally feel the quality of the product through these little details that other luxury brands will not let you to experience within this price range
the only problem is that this watch used a selitta movement that's used in $500 😎👍
@@kingadjust5422Thats the great thing about this. You can have luxury watch and service it for cheap if something brakes.
TAG has been much maligned, and often rightly so. However, my 20 year-old TAG 2000 chrono is still running flawlessly and is one of my most comfortable watches. This Aqua is definitely in my ‘want’ list. Thanks for reviewing something different for us.

It's a base sellita with a plastic insert. They have been using them since around 09 or so on these, possibly earlier.

Secondary market $1,500 ish this is a great buy, well executed and feel solid, tried it on wrist today, retail for 2500 plus tax,no thanks. But, it’s funny how a non watch person has no idea what a IWC or Hublot is , but they see you wearing this Tag or a Rolex, you are “baller” lol 😂
everyone knows what a hublot is..
To be honest Hublot looks like cheap Chinese watch which you can buy 10 quids for a bucket.

If you take the back off this you'll find the movement sitting in a white plastic spacer. (Check Bruce Williams review from a couple of months ago)I'm not being down on the brand,but if I'd just spent around $2000 on one I'd be a bit disappointed.

Will I be tarred and feathered for saying that I much prefer this design to the Omega Seamaster? Yes.. I know the Omega has the much more sophisticated movement, but when I look at the price-tag, do I really care? This TAG could almost be called "affordable" - especially for a watch from one of the big Swiss brands. I just wish they'd use the green/red version of their logo on the dial here.

I've always wanted one of these. However, the horns on the bezel and the geometric edges are not to my own personal taste. Besides that, I really like the dial, the blue on the bezel looks awesome, and for some reason I find the cyclops to be pretty cool on this particular watch, dunno why but it works well here.

Random Rob yeah apparently so, the usual green dial version that Bruce reviewed a little while back is getting hard to get because I believe Tag Heuer have discontinued it. They’re re releasing it and adding a green ceramic bezel.

It's too small for your wrist. You should go for a 43mm. With that said, it's a really nice watch. Very cool design.
But the one thing I don't understand: pushpin bracelet on a $2500 watch.
It's a nice looking watch, I would buy pre owned though, as the depreciation on Tags can be catastrophic!

Great review. Tag makes a very nice watch for the price. I'd put the styling of this Aquaracer up there with some of the best Swiss sport watches. Very modern look and quality.

falconmiester I’d go with the new ceramic bezel version over the Tag, it’s purely down to aesthetics between the two with very little between them with regards to build quality. The Tag does have a better bracelet and the Longines a better bezel IMO. Either one won’t leave you disappointed.

Do you think this is better finished than a Oris Aquis? The markers and such on the dial look rather good
I had the oris aquis in black and it was fantastic. The bracelet felt a bit better quality (less chinky) than the tag if that makes sense. I find myself staring at the tag way more and wearing the Tag way more than the Oris. Plus the Tag being 41mm is such a classy size. Not too big not too small. I got the tag for less than the Oris and I would have to say the Tag intrigues me and makes me feel better than the Oris did.

I hate tag, but any Video & photo dont do a justice on this watch, it really looked damn good in real life.

We have a lot 43mm, but there is no sign of 41mm anymore, dealers say its been a while since they have seen it
Great vlog Rob. I have the GMT version calibre 7 and although it only has an aluminium Pepsi bezel it is a great looking watch. This was my first quality Swiss auto after buying many Seiko divers many of which have featured on your channel (you’ve cost me money Rob!!!😂). The great thing is I picked up this Aquaracer GMT new from a jeweller in Birmingham UK for £1600 and recently saw it in a local AD selling for £2395. There are killer deals to be found!
Check out Calibre11.com. They have a great review of this watch. Tag get slaughtered with lots of bad press. This watch like many others in their higher end autos are great quality for a fraction of Omega and Rolex prices. Recommended. 👍

It's funny I got mine and it fits me big cause I didn't want no links taking off cause I don't want no scratches what so ever so been wearing it everyday since I got it a few day ago but had to put it up in the closet for awhile really don't want to wear it everyday
I really like the watch, I almost decided to buy it, until I saw in another TH-cam video where they remove the back cover and show the movement, it has a huge white plastic ring separating the movement from the case, really seeing that being a person who admires mechanical movements is really disappointing !!!! I totally discarded this watch and I don't know if all the watches of this brand, I really can't understand how they can put that plastic ring on a watch of these values!
Yes actually it's a polymer ring which my watchmaker states while cheaper, is probably better for shock resistance. They make car bumpers out of plastic now too. This is really just an old tired talking point of the tag bashers that permeate this hobby.
Something I will never do put it on a hard table man that hurt when i put my watch down it has to be on something soft so I will put my watch on the table but with a cloth and then people wonder why it has scratches OMG

I do not understand, why? Tag heuer stop meake this 41mm wersion. 43mm in my opinion, is too big. Carrera Line has the same problems, loots of models is too big.

U.U.U **Patreon** I def prefer the look of the aquaracer more. Plus it’s smaller. But, Omega has more brand cache.
Looks like TH copied the overall dimensions and design features from a Circa 2000 Omega SMP300.

Random Rob yeah I love tag , I’ve had lots of different types starting with the 2000 series decades ago, Carreras , and I’ve been looking at the autavia chronograph lately, but the spacer issue in the aqua racer and the aluminium bezel on the autavia have put me off , I know it’s based on an old watch but come on
