  • Welcome to the start of our NEW ADVENTURE! We boarded our flight on 11 September and flew to Auckland via Singapore. We didn't take too much footage on the actual flights, but still managed to capture the just of the journey. Please let us know if you have any questions about our experience and we'll try our best to assist :)
    We chose Singapore Air, because it was by far the cheapest we could find at the time. We know the actual date might scare people off, but the price was R2000 less then flights on other dates. We also like that the journey was split in two legs of about 10 hours each. It was great to be able to stretch our legs in Changi Airport (our favourite), although the layover was only 2,5 hours, which wasn't close to enough time to see everything this amazing airport has to offer. If you want to see The Jewel, it's recommended that you have at least 5 hours, as you have to go through immigration.
    Thanks to Airlegs for making the journey a bit more comfortable :) But please note that we wouldn't really recommend it for taller people, like Craig. It was perfect for me though!

    When I saw you guys saying goodbye at O.R. Tambo, I had tears rolling down my face as I remembered the day I left SA on 1 April 2013 at that very same airport. All those memories came back, so I can imagine how you felt. But it's all for the best, believe me! Much as I miss SA to the point that I cry at times, I must say this is the best decision I ever made! Your life will improve because you will have a job and it will be a sucess, but SA will always be in your heart. All the best! Greetings from 🇵🇹

    I will miss your SA videos. I’m a Brit who lived in Durban for 6 years as a teenager in the 80’s. Your videos brought back so many great memories of places I remember from all those years ago. Good luck with your new life in NZ. It’s a beautiful place, and you are very close to the Bay of Islands which I’m sure you’ll love. I’m looking forward to your NZ videos.

    I just ordered our airlegs today after seeing this video (we've got flights booked for 7 Nov but no Visa's yet 😭)
    Tell me, the bidvest lounge in JHB, does it have a play lounge for kids? Our daughter is 5 and we arrive in JHB 6 hours before our flight out so would be nice if she can climb and play and burn off some energy before being confined to a plane basically for 2 days of travel thereafter as there isn't much time between the rest of our connections so this will really be her last chance to play before NZ

    Can you not take a direct flight given both countries are in the Southern Hemisphere? I find it weird you had to go to the Northern Hemisphere then back South? Surely at the very least, there's a flight to Melbourne or Sydney where you could connect and save time?

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Henry…we always book the cheapest flights 😅 there is a direct flight from Joburg to Sydney, but at the time, the Singapore flight was significantly cheaper…by far the lowest we could find after searching all available options.

    great video guys and full of information. Tell me something, why didn't you take a flight that stops in Sydney, why didn't you take Qantas since it's a little quicker and cheaper than Singapore Airlines, did you guys have specific reasons? I am very curious about your response. Thank you

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Naison, Singapore Air was the cheapest flights BY FAR for the dates we were looking at. Flight prices seem to fluctuate daily though, so it depends on the day that you actually make the booking.

      @@BeingBedingfield thank you for your response. I got my nz visa and I bought a direct flight ticket to Wellington, only to find out that Qantas will stop in Sydney Australia and now I need a Transit visa to Nz. That is why I asked I thought it was the same case with you.

      @@naisonmagonyo8509 Eek, as far as I know, there aren't any direct flights between SA and NZ, there will always be a stop over somewhere along the line. Transit visas are the worst...we needed one a few years ago when we went to Prague through Heathrow, now we always check the requirements before we book tickets hehe

    Halllooo! I have been watching your videos over and over for the past few weeks! We have decided to just do it - but yes - no easy task - if you can I would love some guidance - like I said, you have been on my screen on repeat haha. We are doing it ourselves - my hubby has a trade. We applied for his EWRB license and waiting for the feedback on that (festive season) he has applied for so many jobs, I have lost count - some of the Employers reached out and said that as soon as we are in NZ we should let them know - we made it clear in every application that we are sponsoring ourselves - paying for the EWRB, visas, medical and flights. Most companies replied that they do not want to get involved with the visa process - can you maybe explain? Or any suggestion for us because without a job offer, we cannot apply for the visas to come over? Some guidance would be appreciated please! And a big well done for both of you!!!! I will be watching everything again!

      Thanks so much Esmerelda! Well done for making your decision, I’m sure it wasn’t easy.
      Unfortunately we aren’t able to give advice regarding your job situation. We got very lucky with our offer, it really helped that the employer is South African and knew what the emigration process entailed, they were also very patient with us.
      Good luck with the job hunt 🙏🤗 and sorry we can’t be of any more assistance 🙈
