As a kiwi its always nice hearing about others experiences here whether good or not, its great sharing and learning for not only you guys, but us too. I always hope youre being treated well in our country and i continue to enjoy all your videos. Yall are my fave SA family on TH-cam :)
Hi Jefferson 👋 I don’t know if we’ve asked you before, but where in NZ do you live? We love it here and definitely feel super welcomed by all 🤗 Thank you always for your kind comments 😊
As a kiwi first of all welcome we need folks like you two makes our place colorful. Really ❤️ your blogs says a lot about who you guys are. May your travels be a blessing to you two
So many unexpected hurdles for you guys! They really don't make moving easy to begin with, but emigration is next level. I'm glad despite all of these challenges you guys are building your dream life in New Zealand! You're right, coffee was essential for that explanation (I even had mine following along 🤣)
Hey guys, your enthusiasm & openness will leave you in good standing in NZ, we love & want people like you in NZ to make it better. Dont rush off before you've seen the country. If you make it down to the Hawkes Bay, look us up!
Love your guys videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences here in NZ. So glad you are still happy and bubbly and positive in spite of the horrific weather😊🌧
Brilliant video! I love seeing other South Africans' journey to wherever they may end up. This video really brought back memories for me! LOL! I remember struggling for MONTHS trying to receive a One-Time-Pin (OTP) from ABSA so I could use my account from here in Canada! I have since closed it, as I really don't think having an account in South Africa benefits me at all! Keep posting guys, I love watching your videos!
Hey guys, we've enjoyed following your journey and hearing about both the good experiences and the not so good ones too. Going round and round with the bank would be so frustrating 😠 There are things you can research and prepare for...but living through it still brings things you don't expect. We are glad that overall the transition has gone well for you 💕
Love your videos guys! We have been through this twice as we initially moved from SA to the UK in 2008 and then to Australia in 2018. Can totally relate to the challenges you've had! If you're in Oz one day you should visit Port Stephens and come say hi!
Great video again. Reliving a lot of things through you guys. We also got a bit of criticism from people who had never been to NZ. Cancelling TV license was a bit of a challenge.
Welcome. A lot of South Africans reside on the North shore - especially Browns Bay, long bay & Hibiscus coast. There are nice south African shops with Biltong! Feel free to keep supporting the Boks too 😉
Been wondering how you guys are coping with all that rain in Whangarei ? Aucklanders are quick to rubbish our weather down here in Invercargill. I can tell you we have had brilliant weather this summer. Every time I visit Auckland it is always raining. Please come and visit the bottom of the South Island soon. South Africa is like Northland and Auckland at present. Heaps of rain and flooding. Hardly summer weather.
Oh my goodness, yes, closing accounts was a nightmare! There are also silly things e.g. I bought tinned food yesterday and when I wanted to use it today, I realized I don't have a can opener! :-D something else that took me by surprize (but shouldn't have) is that nearly every single one of my colleagues comes from asia/pacific islands! Hardly a single Kiwi to be seen :-D
Great vlog guys. In relation to the negative "comments", as mentioned previously, we left SA in 1986 and have never looked back, in fact one of the best things I think we have ever done (and that was with two children), but and there always has to be a but, Craig nailed it with the comment "Emigration is not for everyone". That said, life is what you make of it, and one of the reasons I enjoy your vlogs, is that you both are positive, appear to enjoy a challenge, and make something out of it. Till next till - thanks guys. P.S. It is Durban hot in CHCH today and we really could do with some rain. (yes I know, I know 🙂)
Thanks Phil! Yes, life is what you make of it and we always look for the beauty and the positives. And even though certain processes were frustrating, we’ll do it all again in a heartbeat 🤗 Ah no!! Send us some sun and we’ll send you the rain 😅
Thank you for sharing your experience! Dealing with any institution ALWAYS seems like a nightmare! Ughh I always expect the worst and so surprised when it works smoothly 😂. Great video guys so happy for you both! ~Cara 😊
Thanks Cara 😊 we actually forgot to say how amazed we are at how efficient the NZ government departments are…we’ll have to include that in a future video 😅
It is the little things that catch you out when changing countries you guys have a great attitude and take everything as it comes just like most kiwis. Have you felt any earthquakes yet? Didn't like being woken at 2am by the last one here in Morrinsville
That's exactly how I felt when we got an unexpected opportunity to move to Ireland. We only get one life so we should make the most of every adventure that comes our way and if it doesn't work out well hey at least you tried it. I'm sure you are going to love all the opportunities that will come your way. I'm heading back to Hilton in May to see my mother but can't say I'm really looking forward to going back.
Exactly how we see it!! Hope your family has a generator in Hilton, so many electricity over and above loadshedding, as I’m sure you know 😅 but I’m sure you’ll still enjoy it, it’s such a beautiful area 😊
It's so nice to hear your emigration story! We hope to emigrate to Malta next year, but luckily don't have to close any accounts. We'll always have to pay US taxes so there's no point for us to let our accounts go. Btw, you make a beautiful cup of coffee Chantal.
Wow, Malta 🤗 that sounds amazing! I was wondering where you guys would choose to live after being to so many beautiful countries! Such a tough decision!
TH-cam premium… I also had to close the account and link with another. A MISSION! Who knew a simple location setting would cause so much trauma. Banking and OTP! 🤦🏻♂️
😂 ok my mind is evil! I had this image in my head as Chantel was leaning on the plunger to push it down and the mug slips from under her. Bam! Would have made a hysterical outtake 😂😂😂. Just wondering but did you guys look at buying Bitcoin with your SA money and cashing out your wallet into your NZ account? Always wondered if that could save lots of money in forex fees, etc. and I’m no expert but that thought came to mind.
Hi Glen, we always love your comments 😂😂 Never thought about the Bitcoin option, that would actually be very interesting to know more about 🤔 I don’t think we’d take that risk though 😅
@@BeingBedingfield 🤣 indeed, wondered if you had come across people doing this while doing your research back in SA. But yeah a risk due to fluctuations that can occur and not knowing if it really will be hassle free or not.
Please can you advise how or who did your immigration through ? Was it done on your own or through an immigration recruiter. We are looking to immigrate the best, con tans affordable way.
Thanks!
Wow, thank you, we appreciate this so much :)

TV license 😳 we totally forgot about that 🙈😂
Really enjoy your videos!🥰 We're moving to NZ too and flying 26 Feb. Busy canceling everything and so far so good 🤞So very excited!!
Thanks so much :) How are you guys feeling? We had so many mixed emotions during the last few weeks! Good luck with the last few arrangements!
