This is a clear gift for organizing the band or studio musicians.

Nice lesson, thanks Ryan! I have been a Jayhawks fan almost since this song was brand new out of the studio. I live in Chicagoland and have seen The Jayhawks live here more than once. Great band.

Just found my Jayhawks album in a CD player where it has resided for 15 years! Then found you’d done this ... magic!

First off this is a great lesson and analysis of the song, thanks for working this up. Second, I do feel obliged to say that, as most of you who made it to this site know already, The Jayhawks are not just a local band but really one of the most underappreciated great bands in America, great may be hyperbole but not by much, they are great. And "the lead guy" is Gary Louris, again one of the most underappreciated of great song writers although, of course, Blue was co-written with Mark Olson on their final album together as collaborators. Yes I know they sort of reunited later but Tomorrow The Green Grass was their greatest moment together and the end of that era of the Jayhawks. Louris is also a vastly underappreciated great guitarist/lead guitar player. Anyway, it was just weird that Ryan kept calling him "the guitar player"...anyway, great vid thanks for the lesson.

Great Lesson! I love the way you explain the mechanics of playing with just a little more theory than I understand. That helps me learn in both directions! Jayhawks are a fantastic band - glad you found them!

Thanks Eric! I'm glad to hear that it's "just right" :) and i did a double take when I saw you'd commented on this video of all videos. I've added a whole jayhawks album to my golf playlist, and always enjoy it when they pop up. those guys have good ears on them.

@@RyanLendt So serendipitous! The Jayhawks are like Mark Knopfler to me - they just don't write bad songs, ever. I'm going to see Knopfler in Atlanta next month with the guy who introduced me to the Jayhawks, so the Circle of life goes around. :) I just discovered your channel last night while looking for lessons on "Waiting for the Sun" I love your teaching style! I'm hitting "That Thing You Do" next.

The Jayhaws have so many great songs! Also check out the Ready for the Flood album by Mark Olson and Gary Louris. They were the co-front men of the Jayhawks. Beautiful album with mesmerizing harmonies and guitar work!

Thanks Ryan, awesome as always!! Yes you got it right MN it is. The Jayhawks are a well known solid live show every time - at least in my world anyway. I would love to see a video of you trying to figure out at song like this with those bubbles above your head like a cartoon strip. Even when your lessons are spoon fed to me mine would probably have to be censored (%^#@*^). Thanks again, I've wanted to play along to this one for 20+ years, no more air guitar!!!!!. (2nd time watching... BTW great Nintendo reference!)

Brilliant! Love that song. Great lesson. You play that better than I've seen them play it. I call the f# minor with open b and e strings the thunderclap Newman chord. Bit perturbed by the mention of Coldplay. They're god awful. Aside from that loved it!
