I’ve written this under other reactions, but I’ll go ahead and copy it here as well.
So essentially the story is:
Miyeon, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua are former lovers of the man in the video who started out fine, but over time became more monstrous and aggressive. There are theories that he ended the lives of those four based on their scenes in the MV. Drowning Miyeon, choking Soyeon, pushing Yuqi down the stairs, and crashing a car with Shuhua in it. Then Minnie enters the picture. Again, all seems well and that’s what takes us to the wedding scene. But here, she feels the presence of the four other women, and she sees the blood on her hands symbolizing that she might be next at the hands of this man. Her perception changes upon finding the truth about the man she was almost going to marry.
Then cut to her aiming the weapon at his head. We cut to them all aiming, hence what they all wanted to do. Upon ending him, tension is relieved, and Minnie has seemingly rid the four other members of their pain knowing that the monster who hurt them is now dead.
And lastly we see Minnie waking up on the boat by herself. The other members being there with her was just a dream. But in reality, she ended the life of the man, dodged a bullet, and did what she thought was right. Now the four souls of the members can live in peace, and can be with Minnie to provide strength and comfort for what she did for them and for herself.
All in all, they tackled the very heavy issue of SA in South Korea which often goes under the radar and unnoticed.

WAIT I NEVER CAUGHT THAT i thought it followed the same concept as “I DO” and they all were the same person. BUT WHAT YOU SAID JUST MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
I'm with you, but maybe a step further, I suggest considering the four victims--members other than Minnie--as actual ghosts. They help Minnie avoid their fate, and she relieves their grudges by taking revenge so that they can 'move on,' which is why at the end they are shown at peace and then disappear. This comes from watching a lot of fantasy kdrama, where this is not an unusual theme. See, for example, Hotel Del Luna!
I got that the girls except Minnie weren't there, but I took it as aspects of her personality. Your theory here is MUCH better.
The big problem is that the imagery of the MV supports this analysis, but the lyrics of the song do not fit well with this interpretation. I think a major problem is that whoever created the MV did NOT adhere to the actual meaning of the song, creating an odd situation that the two do NOT match. I love the MV as a work of visual art. I love the song. But the 2 are not consistent and should not have been put together.
Agreed. Honestly, I'm not sure what the lyrics to 'I Want' might mean, but I don't see an obvious fit to the MV either. I somewhat attribute that lack of coordination to this being an english single from an all-english album, and therefore not reflecting Soyeon's usual comprehensive control of the group's expression. (It seems clear that she is not comfortable with english, generally.) I would say that the 'I Do' MV also doesn't really fit very well to that song's lyrics. @@davidk6269
saying "she's so girly I love her" for a scene of Miyeon just standing there, is the most accurate statement about her I've heard
I know y'all don't normally do this, but y'all need to react to the full HEAT album. Other than I Want That, Eyes Roll and Tall Trees have my heart. Y'all will be SHOOKT at how good the songs are.

Eyes Roll is the craziest lyrics so far I think, when you really read them, it is out of control the innuendo in that song.

(G)I-dle have been on such a cannot miss tear for what feels like years. It took me a few listens to realize this was full English and they have com so far with their pronouncing, it is amazing. Thanks for going back and reacting to this one.
I love this MV! The song itself is not my favorite, but it works so well with the video and the intensity of the story. I agree that the girls' acting is top-notch in this! I actually thought that all of the members represent one girl, which ends up being Minnie's character. However, after reading the pinned comment about the story, it makes sense that the other girls' characters are already dead, and Minnie takes revenge for herself and for everyone.
By the way, the male actor is Park Jeong Min. I don't know if he's famous enough in Korea, but I personally have seen him in quite a few K-dramas, and he's good (I recommend 'Hellbound' and am REALLY hoping for a season 2, lol). I see what Ozlem is talking about; he may not be typically beautiful by k-standards (like, not a type of looks you expect to see from a k-idol), but he's pretty charismatic. I think if we were not seeing him in scenes where he portrays an abuser and only saw lovey-dovey scenes with him, we all would think he's cute and attractive. So, I guess this is the power of acting. Like Esosa said, it's his character that's ugly.
About the 88rising collaboration, it's cool to see the new things they brought to the table and to the image of the group. But if I'm not mistaken, Soyeon did not participate in producing the music for this album, right? Also, I'm a bit sad that they haven't done promotions on Korean music shows for these songs, like they did for previous Korean comebacks.

T-ARA used to have 20 minute drama versions of their music videos during 2nd gen. Those need to come back!
Also BAP's "Skydive" and "One Shot" were long form cinematic music videos though obviously not as long as the T-ARA MV's which were short films for a period prior to T-ARA being sidetracked by that made up bullying controversy. BAP's long form videos were a victim of the terrible management of their company. Also, the girl group Secret had a great cinematic video in "Poison." They were under the same company as BAP. K. Will had a really shocking for the time video for "Please Don't" which was very cinematic and filmed with several actors and Sistar member Kim Dasom. That period from about 2011 to 2014 there were a fair number of videos that weren't the typical "dance in a box" but I think the companies couldn't keep justifying the cost of filming them as K-pop wasn't global enough yet to generate the 100 million or more views in just a few months and the million or more album sales that you needed to justify the production cost of such videos. Still, that was a very interesting era to stumble into K-pop for the first time.

The MV is sooo sad and dark but real when it comes to domestic abu$3. Its such a deep and message heavy video but it takes some reading and rewatching to get the story.
Every girl that passed away has some sort of flowers, petals, flower symbolism...those are korean funeral flowers which is why it more likely means 4 members aside from Minnie were unalive. Loved the reaction.
