I have this very guitar from my teenage years, and I'm the only owner it's ever had. I saved up my fast food paychecks for months to afford it, and then I used it extensively for the next 20 years. It's not my main any more, but I still have it and I'll never sell it, it's a stunning guitar that's held up well over time.
That Charvel is amazing. I started playing in '85 and could only dream of having one of those at the time. They cost 3 to 5 times what I could afford. Great to see one in such incredible shape. I wonder if these pickups are the inspiration for the Badlands pickups.
The Tone King's earlier Charvel video (featuring both of these guitars, as well), inspired me to collect a few. Now I have Model 6, 4, and 2 guitars, along with two 3B basses, and a 575 Deluxe. Thanks TK for showing me the light! I love them all.
My dad bought me this model back in 1990. I was so happy. I was 14 years old. I miss it so much. It was stoling from me in 1995. That guitar meant so much to me. I loved the 3 toggle switch look although as a kid it was all about looks.
I have a white one of these. It's almost yellow now. It is insane, absolute monster and very precise. Kahler even has the very fine (less than 1 mm) spacer that was needed to be put on as the bridge height from factory was actually a little too low. I had no idea it was worth this much,
I had an ‘83 strat that i put a Jackson branded humbucker in it, and it screamed. Wish i still had that guitar. It was a 2-knob version with the horrible bridge system, yet the sound of that pickup and the carve on the neck was perfect…
Nice features, maybe those kill switches are gone now because of the price ratio. Anyways sounds killer to me, I can understand a professional artist would do the efford find one of those vintage guitars to make his/her new album! Great video, greets from Belgium
Samick made a spec for spec version called YFFB-821 different pickups of course but looks plays and feels the same. They only made them for a short time and cost about $450 in the late 80s (probably didn’t sell too many for that price)
I've got a model 4 in black, with a Kohler, and a model 6 with a Kohler, in that same purple. Needs a refret, but it only cost me $500 because of that. Here in Australia, a model 6 was recently listed for $4000 so, I think $500 is a good deal. I have a couple of 90's charvels as well. And did have a white model 6, with a Floyd, but it was stolen almost 20 years ago. 😊
The original USA strat head Pre pro's are the "Holy grails" not the IMC owned made in japan Model 6. Go online and try to find a old Charvel pre pro to purchase sometime! Good luck!😁
@@billsharp3855 Ohhhh nice! Maybe I was confused because there's another flat top wich was a lesser model to the 750 XL... I'd be happy to get my hand on any of them hahaha thank for the info my friend!
I’ve got 2 lol one played the hell out of it since 86 bought new….still plays to this day perfect and a red one I found for $500 bucks from a guy that didn’t know or cared about what he had …. In mint shape no fret wear at all and no chip on the tip lol with the grey case ….only flaw is for some reason the second fret has what looks like a deep string hit it in the past left a perfect cut across the fret the rest of the frets are flawless weird …. Sad I went to show it off at a friend’s house and his drunk ass son picked it up and hit the wall with the tip of the neck and walla just like most Charvel Concord necks he chipped it ….My heart sunk when I got home and noticed it was mint until then. Wish I could send it in a have it restored
That whole model series is highly sought after.. The model 6 is hard to find.. Ive had plenty of model 2s.. i had an oddball 86 with a piezo active system ..i never figured out how it worked but it had lil wires from each saddle on a kahler fulcrum style trem with brass fine tuners.. pcb circuit board in the cavity with 1 mini toggle next to the volume pot.. it acted as a killswitch for me, but im sure it was to engage the piezo in whatver system it was made for.
I love my Model 6! But I would have to say the "holy grail" of Charvel (import) guitars would be the almighty 750XL. I have a 750 as well and it's basically a Les Paul on steroids with a Schaller Floyd Rose.
Hello. I habe a Charvel model 5 Usa made neck true with Kaller but pick ups without brand Jackson very similar plain type cover. Price new was 800 - 900 U$ with plastic gray hardshell case. Black finished, high gloss for all playing abuse. The sound good but I prefer many others brand guitars. Congratulations. Collect them all.
WARNING!!! Don't ever expose this model of guitar to the Sun. It will yellow the binding in a heartbeat. I kept mine mostly in a case since I bought it in 1988, but one day I let it set in out in my bedroom and bad things happened.
Those are my favorite style of Charvels. All that Charvel Jackson stuff is so overpriced. I went with an 89 Peavey Nitro custom 3 USA made with the Kohler Spyder bridge for $800 in mint condition. Probably the last bargain buy out there even the vintage Ibanez RGs are getting hard to come by.
sorry, nothing with a kahler is not a holy grail guitar. get the jackson/floyd that came after. it was essentially a $1400 jackson soloist for $999. i bought a model 5 for like 799 or 899 but they were out of stock forever and i eventually bought a usf neck thru bc rich custom warlock instead. charvel should go with that headstock for all of their USA models so you can tell the difference instantly between the 299 version and the $3000 usa models.

One of the coolest guitars ever made. That finish is amazing too 🤘🏽

That model 2 HB pickup is a beast huh.. I know I have one. In electric blue.and a model 4 white
i bought a white model 6 in 87 and still have it!its so rad
rad? are you an 80s skateborder?
I have a Jackson PS-4 Performer. Made in Japan. my go to when all else fails. pickups say Jackson. Lovely content. Thanks mate.
Fantastic! Love the old Charvels! Thankyou ver much for this TK! Great presentation!🔥🔥🔥
Nice I have an '87 Ferrari red model 6 and an '87 pearl white model 2. Great guitars!

That's a classic for sure!! Thanks for sharing my friend!!
One of my biggest regrets is selling my 86 model 4. I loved that guitar and the kahler.
Cool. I own one of these except mine is a little newer with a Floyd Ross bridge and a bolt on neck. Awesome sound! Thanks for the video...
I had the Japanese 86 model 6… my biggest mistake was to sell that guitar. I still miss it… more than 30 years after…
fantastic i love charvel classic guitars

I really wish Charvel still made these pointy headstocks.
A beauty! . A great color for a car.

The 1986 model 6 is the holy grail of the model 1-6 series, not of all history of Charvel
@@jondoe7570 Agree 100%! of all the MIJ 80's Charvel's the Model 6 is my favorite since it is a clone of a Jackson
soloist
Wasn't the 750 XL the flasgship one? Amazing guitar anyways, also the Kahler is a really nice touch
The 750 Xl came after the model series ended in 1989 when they switched to the script (toothpaste) logo. Then the 750 became the top model.
@@billsharp3855 Ohhhh nice! Maybe I was confused because there's another flat top wich was a lesser model to the 750 XL... I'd be happy to get my hand on any of them hahaha thank for the info my friend!
When the 750 XL came out the 650 XL replaced the model 6@@AlanCessa
I have had a model 6 in the same color (w Jackson Floyd). Bought it new.
What model of Kahler is this?
That "floyd" isn't a floyd, it's a JT6 double locking bridge. That's why it says Jackson on it. Source: I have a pink Model 6 from 89

I have a 86 that i stripped the paint off and put in prs pickup in
That looks to be in great condition, all the ones i see for sale over here are really beat up.
I had the 87 model in Cobalt Blue. I still regret selling it.
I love my Model 6! But I would have to say the "holy grail" of Charvel (import) guitars would be the almighty 750XL. I have a 750 as well and it's basically a Les Paul on steroids with a Schaller Floyd Rose.
That "holy grail" Charvel it's actually more Jackson than Charvel... Nowadays San Dimas custom shops made in USA are far superior, imo.

Had the pearl white one with the kahler. Sold it.
Ii have an 1987 model 3, near mint. Jackson pups and hardware
Sweet guitar…if you’re into these 80’s guitars, you should check out Badlands🤣…they’re bringing sexy guitars back baby

Why are your clips always so muddy?
Nice guitar. Plum Metallic Purple Nerple. Uhm.........maybe not have Steve on.....show was sad last night.
The science is lost on most guitarists! “I wanna Rock!” Is just the point of it all! How many guitarists care about hertz?

🤘💪⚡️
Grover Jackson does sell Pickups and for very reasonable prices. He of course does not have any connection with Jackson or Charvel anymore.
He made some lovely guitars for Dave Friedman until recently and his GJ2 guitars can be found online though out of production.
I love Jackson but in recent time their quality is poor......

I miss the toothpaste logo 😢
Kiesel are doing push pull kill
The Model 6 is in my opinion far superior to any of the old or curent USA Charvels ...
Ok?
Gift that to someone that can play . Your doing it no justice !
sorry! i cant see your video, to many ads,
In my honest opinion there is no guitar worth over 1000
🤣
Do you think Ferraris should be about $4995.95?
🤡
