$5,000 😳 working man’s guitar or a guitar for the 1%er’s? Even if all the parts like the Floyd and the wood to build it cost $1,000, and $1,000 to pay employees to build it, $1,000 for marketing. And a$1,000 profit for each guitar. That’s $4,000. His name is big but it’s not $5,000 big. He’s not Leo Fender for crying out loud
The funny thing being that Fender became famous because he designed a guitar that he could make for peanuts. Cheap. The strat is a cheap guitar to build. He used local lumber, made everything just right so that the lumber was used as economically as possible. They are cheap factory instruments.
Don't hate me. No, in fact do hate me. Some years ago, looking for something a bit different (and admittedly falling for marketing spiel) I purchased a GJ2 ( Grover's comeback at the time?) Tele style guitar with, I think it was called "Habanero" pups, a few years ago (pre pandemic). For a considerable amount of money. Because it has his name attached I guess. It was a very disappointing guitar for the money (no balance between neck P90 and bridge single coil - neck finish was..well, not finished.) It was by no means irredeemable, but I had told sell it for £900, having paid nearly £2K. Fast forward to "Friedman Guitars", I purchased one from Peach guitars in UK (and I like Peach, but their uncritical promotion of the range has made me revaluate this) This was a significantly better instrument ( I guess Grover Jackson learned from GJ2's fate....but then again, I thought he was meant to know about guitars to begin with?). But again, not £2.5 UK worth. Just..not, nowhere near. It had that 'partscaster' feel to it, albeit with quality parts. Sold it at a significant loss. Fine, it's a new brand, but...isn't the reason we are being asked to invest in these based on the rep of the builder/ designer? We all have to make our way in this world and I judge no person for trying. But I can't shake the image of Grover Jackson literally driving around California with a bunch of builds in his boot that need to compete against the like of K-Line, LSL..oh yeah, and Fender, and having nothing but his 'legendary name' to trade on. And then asking for....£$£$ how much...? Here's a thought Grover: If you are so confident in your ability and heritage, try using that expertise to produce a range that is affordable and has quality and consistency in production. Start from there, and then build up to asking big sums of money for guitars that no one can be confident has the value and quality other than what you assert they do. My experience of your guitars is that they really don't. Still love my Blue Note J.R.!
Damn, $5k? The highest end strats (Suhr, Anderson, Grosh, Xotic) and even Fender Custom Shop are less than $5k. Besides the price, the Floyd Rose makes these a non-starter for me. I had a couple of the GJ2 guitars and a Friedman and they were meh. I’m not sure what makes these so much better (and more expensive).
hate to break it to you, but tech workers don't care about music. They don't care about traditional art forms at all. These are for aging baby boomers with too much cash due to house price inflation.
A worker with manual skills and a sharp and brilliant, inquiring mind will do a good job with average, even inferior tools. With the best available tools...
Sorry Grover, love your work and play your instruments too. But this is an expensive non-event. Certainly beyond the pocket of working guitarists I know.
I’m sure that they are fine, even excellent guitars. But $5000 is excessive for a relic’d Strat w/ a pickguard. Seriously, at this price point you could actually buy a vintage Charvel or Jackson guitar. There are a lot of options, for a brand new guitar, built to the same quality as these for A. LOT. less money. Tone deaf pricing and value. (Pun intended). There’s no nice way to say this: that headstock is Fugly. Hard pass.
That’s pretty arrogant statement to say that people don’t want pink guitars and pointy headstocks and that era is dead. Are you living under a freaking rock? throwing sht at Jackson guitars is not selling your guitars. And you’re also throwing sht at Solar, Badlands, ESP, BC Rich, etc. stay in your lane, your competition is the fender custom shop and Chinese knock offs.

The funny thing being that Fender became famous because he designed a guitar that he could make for peanuts. Cheap. The strat is a cheap guitar to build. He used local lumber, made everything just right so that the lumber was used as economically as possible. They are cheap factory instruments.
Pointy headstocks will always be awesome dont get it twisted.
Now he's gotta make the....
China Grover....only $999
Same thing exactly
.just made across the big pond
$5k for a bolt on ? Come on guys…
J Rocket pedals are the sh$& though…
You don't want resonant guitars for recording metal . But there are plenty of other situations that it may benefit
asking way to much for a bolt on with a cheap FR.JMO Good luck
Edward rebuilt the Bee to his specs.
Yes…Nirvana. The death of the Rock Star, music, lifestyle, songwriting. Long live 1964-1987/89.
25:35 It doesn't matter if you didn't do it yourself, if you stump up for a 1961 Strat, you didn't put any of those nicks on it yourself either!
Kinda looks like a Friedman copy
Yeah. I had a gj2 Glendora and I have to agree. You can find them used for under a grand.
5k for a "reliced" fender lookalike.
These are made for tech yuppiesto hang on the wall and pretend they're a musician.
hate to break it to you, but tech workers don't care about music. They don't care about traditional art forms at all. These are for aging baby boomers with too much cash due to house price inflation.
Hey, a J. Rocket Fender/G&L/Charvel clone to go with my J. Rocket Klon clone! #notanoriginaldesigntobehad
A worker with manual skills and a sharp and brilliant, inquiring mind will do a good job with average, even inferior tools. With the best available tools...
is this the Grover of GROVER TUNERS ?
Pretty sure he has no connection to that company.
Looks like my IBANEZ RG
As I recall, Ed thought highly of Wayne Charvel.
Grover, not so much. YMMV
One of those would go great with my pre-stressed jeans, my fake Rolex and my Botox’d girlfriend.
Dam! those are expensive
Relic'ed guitars are like distressed jeans, only phonies buy em. Play your shit and it will relic itself.
lol $5k? good laugh anyways
Sorry Grover, love your work and play your instruments too. But this is an expensive non-event. Certainly beyond the pocket of working guitarists I know.
Heres a noval thought Grover.... Make. Something. New.
I’ll stick with FGN. Or Volla
Hard pass.
Stick to making pedals. 5k is a big ask.
Lennon and McCartney were not so lucky. Nobody has surpassed their song writing skills.
He hopes they catch fire? looks like they really did ,Are they all beat all to Sh*t?
I predict epic fail
You might want to QC your logo on the video. Spelling is hard.
😂😂😂working man's guitar my ass!!!
Ouch.
G&L Headstock 😂
Dont Rikki Rockett have Rockett Drums..??
looks like pottery barn
fish eye lens look weird.
Too much blah blah guys.
How about a demo of the guitar?
Another guitar with only the body reliced😂. No one relics better than Fender.
5000?
I guess Gj2 went into the toilette 🚽
$500 for materials n $500 uncle sam $4000 for ex wife alright alright alright alright alright
So someone else builds your guitars, then you over charge 5k for a bolt on. Try Luxetone or Chubtone. At least they build their own guitars.
