- As we continue our attempt to drive around the world in Trudy our campervan, we leave Albania and cross the border into North Macedonia. The weather takes a turn for the worse and we explore the lake city of Ohrid, as we continue our journey south.
This is by far the most challenging OVERLANDING VANLIFE Adventure travel series that we have ever done (and possibly on youtube) one that will definitely change us for ever more. Driving around the world is going to be both a physical and mental challenge and one that will test us to the limit.

Hi from Macedonia :D ..... At the moment,the our Goverment declared closing of our borders and lockdown becouse of 20 ppl with Coronavirus ..... Also the situation is similar in Greece where is waay worse with over 230 ppl .... If there is improvement of the events ..... I reccomend to visit Bitola,then in Greece ,Florina,Edessa,Kastoria Lake,Pella etc ....Plenty of Macedonians in that places ..... P.S .... Ohrid is the place where Saint Clement made Cyrilic alphabet .... Actually on your video,you visited his tomb on one of the churches shown on video ..... Be good .... :D

@@MacedonianBro you should say north macedonia. And you talking about nother greece as if it is the same place as north macedonia which is clearly not the case. Youre sllavs from bullgaria and you have nothing to do with the ancient macedonians which they were clearly illyrians or basicaly Albanians. And bitola the original name is manastir the birthplace of Albanian alphabet untill you sllavomacedonias came after the war in the 50es and changed that name to bitola. So north macedonia is only a 70 years old county and you have no connection to anybody ancient at all apart from the sllavs. please your sllavic propaganda will not work for anybody at all. Just say those things to yourself

Great video! The best time to visit Ohrid is the summer. I believe that church is also home to some wild Peacocks too. Also the proper pronunciation for Ohrid is Oak-reed.

Waaaa we were charged over €150 at the border of North Macedonia so we went via Bulgaria instead...think our van is smaller than yours too. I think it just depends which insurance broker you get 🙄

And we clearly had a campervan, the table she showed us was a choice of a car, or van or truck and the van cost was expensive because it was commercial price. We tried to explain we weren't a business van...but anyway... I will definitely show them your vlog next time😂 Hope iso in Istanbul is going okay 👍
So pity for you. Macedonia (north of course) is so beautifull. In summer very hot, in winter very cold, but folks are very warm. I`m surprised about insurance. My green card (Slovenian) valid for all Balkan except Kosovo. You should next time to visit Macedonia for at least 10 days. Not just Ohrid, all Macedonia is have to visit and see. And the best time is in first half of may. Fresh vegetables with very delicious taste. And the tomato sos Chris and Marianne try in Slovenia is from tomato and eggplant. Name is Ajvar. Just read Ivar I think.And in Macedonia is the best.

Alexander the Great's birthplace is in Ancient Pella in Greece.Only a small part of N.Macedonia (south part)once belonged to Ancient Macedonia (Greece)

Hi Michael - as I write this the next border Georgia ... have closed their borders for now !! We are still in Istanbul and will stay for a couple of days .. and then we will continue East in the hope that the border will be opening up shortly ... if not !! we have enough time on our visa and insurance to stay for 3 months LOL and we will just have to get on with it !! Turkey is a great place to get stuck as everything is very cheap for us and there are nice people and food everywhere xx best wishes Marianne xx
