Interesting method. Just a tidbit of infe, Sharpies contain alcohol ink. If you have bottles of alcohol inks for crafts, you could use a few drops instead of deconstructing a marker.😊

Yes you could get a paper trimmer to do it or something like a guillotine cutter will cut many strips at once.
