Update: Enjoy a big speed boost from the latest GarlicOS update! The CPU governor will automatically adjust itself from 500mhz to 1.5ghz as needed if you leave it in (++) mode - by pushing Select on the home screen. This new option both extends battery life and increases performance. If you have questions for the dev or need support, please hop in our discord (link in description).
Its incredible how far Garlic (and the RG35XX as a result) has come in just 3 weeks. Games run so good now, and the user experience in menus is so great. God bless Black Seraph
I have a miyoo mini v2 and want a second one but it's soo hard to come across again, my cousin really wants one but been thinking to give the rg35xx a try instead for him
Love this thing, it's my 1st emulator, and with garlic OS it is awesome. My 12 your old self never would have imagined having a device like this. I'm sure 35xx isn't the best thing on the market but it's definitely a great gateway drug. I purchased two more for my boys, getting them into the retro scene.
It had some issues with save states until about Jan 17th. The Jan 19th and up versions seem to have fixed the whole problem. The overclocking helped me run Legend of Kain smoothly, which it couldn't do in stock OS. For me, a huge upgrade in the quality of time spent was opening up the device and using a little paper tape to stop the button rattle and tighten up the shoulder buttons. It feels a lot more solid now and I don't have to listen to it rattling in my pocket while I'm talking to people at work all day.
GarlicOS has completely saved this device for me. My only issue right now is the frankly terrible battery life. I'm hoping anbernic gives us the option to upgrade the battery eventually.
Garlic OS is a huge improvement for this device. Still makes me annoyed that anbernic is keeping the source closed so far, so we may never see shit running as well as it could on garlic.
Mine should be here tomorrow. Going to see how well it runs with the stock shit since I'm only looking to play Tetris. Hopefully the DPad isn't as bad as some make it out to be, too.... luckily I can just return it to amazon if it turns out to be a little wonktastic. I only want to play Tetris and I wasn't sure which one to get...
I've been experiencing instability in PS1 emulation after using GarlicOS, games that should run smoothly are slowdown. Crash 3 for example, it seems to me that it is still not stable.
I believe some of the ROM folder names and paths on TF2 were different. It is better to get new cards to try garlic OS for two reasons, one in case you want to get back to stock easier and two because the included cards are often of very bad quality.
Do you think this thing is ready to hand off to a non-techie user with GarlicOS loaded, or does GarlicOS need more time before it is that user friendly?
Stock OS is 100% ready to hand off to a random person. Garlic OS is probably fine for that, but since there are way more features, they might get lost if they go into Retroarch settings or don't understand the hot keys.
Hi. I cant run final fantasy 8 italian version on my rg35xx. Do u know what i must change in options on my device ? Thanks. Sorry for my bad english. I m italian. Thanks again.
Consoles show up when the ROMs are in their appropriately named folder (for ps1 on folder PS) , not on subfolders and with the right extensions. Por ps1 I saw it was recommended to use .CHD images.
How could you access to Quick retroarch menu while playing? If i Press menu...It leaves the game...and i tried all the hotkeys but...Quick menu doesn't appear 😭
Great video! Love all new features! I'm on the newest update of garlic os and when I go into recents menu after playing a game is says that core doesn't support save states with no screenshot. It seems like save states are working but there is no image. Would anyone here by chance know how I could possibly fix.
I have reverted back to stock as Garlic even with its latest just kept crashing, pity as I really liked it, atleast ive got onion on the Miyoo mini lol
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can help me. I bought an anbernic rg35xx for my nephew for his birthday. He's adamant that the NES version of donkey Kong is different from the arcade version. However when I go to play the arcade version of donkey Kong it plays sideways. Is there any way I can correct this
It's in Tate mode try this: open the game and go to settings> video> output> video rotation and set it to 90° then change the aspect ratio, then change the aspect ratio to 3:4. If that works save it as a game override and it should stick. Haven't done this in a while so I hope that works.
I just sacrificed my whole day trying to install garlic and now I kind of regret it. I lost all games along with the stock os. the only games I have now are some roms I had already downloaded. All in all It was hell. But yes I did finally get to play those games. The only game I had on both os is r4 ridge racer, and it runs considerably better now. But I hate the UI and it's hell downloading all these games back.
I played a script rework a few years ago, and I think my last full playthrough in general was with the GBA mega patch in 2021. I'm due for a FF VI Kitchen Sink run. Maybe on my 35xx! - Zu
@Retro Handhelds Well, there is a lot put into the T-Edition. The hacker added the FF6 GBA bonus dungeons into the SNES! There are so many features and surprises in it.
It can play Pokemans all the way up through GBA. Pokemon Unbound is a little tricky because it's such a crazy mod, but otherwise they all run fine. Xoxo Zu
@@retrohandhelds cool thanks! I can't remember seeing anyone on TH-cam playing it and assumed it was for copyright or something, OR it just doesn't work. Thanks!
So the does the rg35xx struggle with all pokemon rom hacks or just unbound? The main reason I want one is for playing Digimon Project Emerald and some other pokemon hacks
@@joeygutierrez3 good question, ive seen people talking about this one the discord so I would suggest asking there, it's linked in the description just pick Anbernic as a roll and go to the 35xx channel. -Aish
was using garlic os but gone back to the original firmware... garlic os seems to have a slight lag on most games..... shame because apart from that its epic... perhaps will see again in a few months...
Nah, there's a strong market for both. Miyoo is too small ergonomically for many people. Both have their place and Garlic OS will just keep getting better.
@@ryulanda9399 it's all about to change in February buddy. The miyoo mini plus will release, it's a bit bigger so maybe they won't have screen shortage problems.

Is screen tearing fixed? I wanted to like this system, but when Garlic first came out screen tearing was terrible in Pokémon Pinball for the GBA.

When I go to consoles, ps1 doesn't show up?
Is there a way to add consoles?
It might be a file format issue. CHD files seem to work best.
Make sure all of your files are unzipped. I didn't see most of my emulators until I did this for each of their ROM folders.
