Thank you KiranPrabha (KP) garu for educating us on a film that lived in peoples hearts for more than a century which is memorable. Devadasu’s birth may be in Bengal, but the way it is owned by the Telugu people (not just audience!) is ‘ajaramaram’. Devadasu is an Epic whose value was not visualised by the legendary writer himself is an indication that what God designs for living beings, also makes the characters in stories immoral. Many great blockbuster movies commercially have disappeared into oblivion with time pass by, but Devadasu, Paru and Chandramukhi live forever. KP garu should have spent some more time on the songs and the sahityam by Samudrala garu as Music was the backbone of this great film. Many have given wonderful suggestions and few facts which may not have been backed by proof for KP garu to narrate in his talk show! Finally, I sincerely felt like few others that CHANDRAMUKHI role and the actress LALITHA should have been glorified and occupied better space in overall scheme of things. Lalitha’s role got expanded in subsequent inspired stories by Dasari garu etc …… Lalitha garu who is one of the trio (Padmini, Ragini …) of a Travancore Royal family. Excellent background information that includes Sri Dilip Kumar’s genuine compliment to ANR who richly deserves by all standards of Indian cinema. 👏👏🏼👌

I had seen Devadas in theatres not less than twenty times and Tamil Devdas once. NO count how many times on TV whether it was a telecast or playing a CD. Any number of times the movie was made in Telugu or in other languages, these makes can never come closer to ANR's Devadas. Real tragedy is many of ANR's kin have not watched this movie. In one of the interviews, ANR's grand son Suman said that himself and his cousin, Nagaruna's son when they were undergoing training at Pune Film Institute, professor there asked them if they watched their grandfather's Devdas. When they said in negative, he immediately got a print and asked the whole batch to watch the movie and learn acting. Another interesting incident related to Devdas is, the movie was a stupendous success not only in Telugu, the Tamil version was also equally successful in Tamil region as well as in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. Devadas' team was invited to Ceylon to participate in the celebrations there. As is known ANR's education was rudimentary and when he had to speak in English, it was all garbage and there was heavy laughter from the audience. ANR felt so low that he went to bathroom and wept . There and then he decided to master English speaking. How he could speak chaste English in later years, everyone had seen. This incident was mentioned in a book on ANR published about 50 years back.
Rama Raju Gaaru, the opinions that you have expressed about legendary and self-made ANR were absolutely right and fitting to his personality, stature and life. Unfortunately his children and grandchildren didn't live upto his great stature and failed to carry forward his great name.

I am a fan of NTRvin my youth. Rarely I used to see the movies of other heroes. From the last twenty years, I used to see the goodvmovies of all heroes. After seeing this movie, my first reaction was how I missed this film for so many years. Particularly, last 45 minutes haunts you.
