I bought a 2011 Accord v6 mainly because of watching your Honda videos. I do all my own basic maintenance. Oil changes, transmission fluid changes, spark plugs, power steering fluid, and brake fluid. Thanks for all the pointers
If you want it to last a long time, google 'Honda VCM issues'. If you have any of those symptoms; fouled plugs, coils failed, clogged CATs, burning oil, broke motor mounts, etc I'd get a device to disable the VCM.
There's actually a Honda Service news article about tearing open the filter wrapping from the top of the filter so it doesn't get pieces of plastic in the filter.
we actually have oil filter recycling where i live they take them at auto parts stores and such for free and a place squishes them to get oil out then grinds them up to separate metal from the filter paper and such I was amazed they actually recycled them. amazing how clean your garage is wish i could actually fit a car in mine LOL
On my honda oil changes, I just use a piece of aluminum foil from the kitchen. It easily shapes around the frame as needed and stays put to give the filter oil a drain path. No special part required and it works very well. When done, remove it, leave it in the drain pan for a while, then dispose of it or save it for the next oil change.
Just changed mine today. I used a 1 gal ziploc tucked up surrounding the oil filter after i broke it loose with the filter wrench. Turned the filter all the way off and dropped it into the bag. It retained all the oil mess and worked a treat.
I always seem to miss the oil pan no matter how big it is so i got the giant square transmission funnel with a pad and put that over oil pan makes it easier to have oil land in pan. Subaru legacy i have is even more stupid for oil filter than that Honda they put filter above a Y in exhaust pipe, so you have to use a cup socket on filter with extension bar and it just goes all over exhaust no matter what i try LOL
Hi Dave. Just in ti I’m doing both my Hondas tomorrow. Just changed the ignition switch on the steering column of my 07 odyesey. It intermittently would buzz since day one but never caused a problem until the other day. A longer buzz and intermittent start. I purchased one a while ago after watching one of your videos. Problem solved. You mentioned the VCM muzzler .ive read different opinions on installing one. Any thoughts on the subject. Thanks for sharing hope all is good 👍. Artie
@@BigDog50001 Dave I’ll be looking forward to it. I have no issues at the moment but you know me I like to stay knowledgeable especially if it comes from you 👍

Yes there is!
My old gal (2013) is just about to pass 393,000 miles.
I wanna push it to at least 400k so I can say I've had it to the moon and back.

Great job, however, why not use Rhino Ramps to get Honda up in the air much easier?
Not a huge fan of ramps.
Thank you. What do you use to clean the oil funnel and filling tools?
Typically I just wipe them with a clean shop rag. If necessary, I spray some brake cleaner on them.
Hi BigDogg. Can we do a reset/cancel oil changes on Civic also?
Some Civics can reset individual items on the instrument gauge cluster, others need a scan tool to do them separate.
Hi sir, Your video content is good, hope we can have a chance to chat.
