I made this song in 2 hours using a bassline a friend laid down. this honestly may be one of my favorite songs I've made. I played a lot with tension and the release of tension through sound in this song, kind of illustrating an overstimulated, derealized version of reality that I see every day due to my dissociative disorder. this song's purpose is still rather loose and up for interpretation. I would LOVE to hear what yall got from this song though! either way, I hope this piece resonates with you guys out there
the album cover is a theatrical image of me that I distorted and edited entirely using AI technology. I LOVE the look and plan on using it more often
    stay safe and enjoy!

Ok, this comment is probably gonna be super weird and long because I straight up made up a story/scene while listening to this song.
I'm imagining it's taking place in a RPG (I'm thinking kind of like a solo D&D session). Also English is not my first language and I'm not a writer so don't expect anything phenomenal 😅
After a long day of adventuring through this mystical forest, you tiredly decide to set up a camp in a clear and calm part of the forest. Once you've finished setting everything up and ate, you think it may be good to relax a bit before going to sleep, as tomorrow will be a stressful and exhausting yet thrilling day where you will find the answer of the mystery of this forest.
What mystery ? It is said that they who will step a foot in this forest will never be seen again. Townsfolk say it is because a monster decided to make this place their home, but you don't think this is the case, as you found no sign of any supernatural being. Maybe it is because of a cursed object, or maybe people just got lost, as no one has been able to make a map of the whole place, which you intend to do.
Coming back to relaxing, you get your favorite instrument and start playing and softly singing by the campfire. You gaze at stars, dreaming up your next adventures, becoming a pirate to slay some Kraken looking creature who has a taste for human meat, or searching for an ancient re-
    **CRACK**
You hear a noise but you can't see anything around you. Was it your imagination ?
    **GRRRRR !**
You feel a sharp pain in your leg. You look down and see a big dog looking creature. Its eyes don't seem to have any life in them, and its fur is nearly completely black, as if it absorbed any light, the exception being its white left leg. You yank your leg out of the "dog"'s mouth, managing to throw it a bit away from you and rapidly get up and start searching for your spear. The thing charges at you, growling, ready to bite. You see some shiny thing reflecting the light of the fire, is it the head of your spear ? Yes it is ! You grab it and *narrowly* block your enemy's attack. Wanting to counter attack, you aim for the head and STRIKE ! But something is wrong, the dog monster doesn't whimper, doesn't seem hurt, hell, it didn't even flinch ! It just stands there, unfazed, as if you didn't even touched it !
You're too shocked to react before it bites you, hurting your arm this time, thankfully though, it's not your dominant one and you can still fight. You shake it off and hit the only thing you can see now, its left leg. This time it start barking in pain, it almost sounds like human screams. You use its reaction to hit it multiple times, and the dog's scream-like barks get lower and softer each time, until it finally dies from the assault. Like a shadow, the body disappear, weirdly leaving behind the white, now stained blood red paw.
Not knowing what to do with it, you leave it on the ground.
You go to your tent to take care of your injuries. Once that's done, you check your surroundings and try protecting your campsite as best as you can before going to sleep.
You fortunately have a good and long night of sleep with wonderful dreams, as the campfire kept you warm and comfortable, despite yesterday's night fight.
You wake up and realizing you have overslept, you immediately go out to see if there is enemies on the campsite. It doesn't seem so, but it's hard to see in the dark...
Wait ! "In the dark" ? It's definitely supposed to be daytime by now, so where is the sun ?
Anxiety starts creeping up, now you know there is *definitely* something wrong with this forest ! You try reassuring yourself that, at least, you have eliminated one theory on the reason for why people keep on disappearing. It doesn't really work and you have that thought that keeps reappearing no matter how hard you try to chase it that you are going to be next.
You decide that you at least need to get ready for a fight and anyway you're hungry so it's better for you to eat, despite being nauseous because of anxiety.
The fire, somehow still burning since yesterday, cast your shadow as you eat, and despite it's warmth, you keep shivering. You try to relax a bit by focusing on your food and how you're going to get out of this situation. You know it's going to be hard to recognize where you are, even with the map you created, since it's so dark that everything looks the same. You know there's a source of water near if you need to stay longer than you thought, but you don't know if the water is drinkable and if you have the means to make it drinkable for long enough to survive and get out. It's going to be more difficult and slower to move around because it's so dark and your injuries still hurt and make it harder for to walk, now that the adrenaline is gone.
You're so deep in your thoughts that you don't notice the monster behind you until its hands are on your eyes and your mouth. You try to scream but nothing comes out except silence.
You wriggle and manage to break free long enough to grab your spear and putting some distance between your attacker and yourself.
Somehow, it is sunny now and you can technically see what attacked you... Except you can only see a pitch black humanoid figure. It is even darker than the dog monster that attacked you, you can't even see if the thing has a face as it's "skin" absorbs all light and reflect none so you can't see if it has features, you can only see its silhouette. And it's one of a giant human with horns that looks like handle bars. You attack it full force with your spear but it doesn't do anything, as if the thing was just smoke and the spear just went through with it. You stammer backwards a bit out of shock, and ask the creature what it is, it doesn't respond, it just slowly move towards you. You loudly tell it to stay back as you're moving backwards, but it continues, you yell at him to stop, it doesn't, and point towards you. Suddenly, you can't move your legs anymore, and you feel a sharp pain where the dog monster bit you and you feel the bandages come off. You look down and to your horror you see black spreading from the wounds. The same type of black both creatures are made off.
The humanoid shadow grabs you, you start seeing multiple shadows move and the realization hits you. You start screaming uncontrollably as you know your end is near, unfortunately for you, there's no human to hear your desperate, begging screams.
The monster drags your screaming self in shadows as you become a living one, never to be seen as a human again.
But hey, now you know what happened to the villagers and you won't need a map to navigate in the forest !
Wow I didn't intend to write so much I'm sorry !

This is... amazing. This makes me so happy that I almost want to cry. I'm so happy my work inspired you to write something so detailed and beautiful. I plan on drawing an illustration for you of this concept because I like it so much :) thank you

@@MasunaMasu OMG thank you so much ! I'm happy you liked it that much ! Honestly I just had the "attacked during a rest at a campsite and win then gets defeated by the real BG" vibe from your song and didn't know what to use as a monster and then just went with the shadow dog thing and got way more into it than I thought I would.
And I love your songs, they're always fantastic ! And thank you for wanting to make an illustration out of it, I really didn't expect it, I look forward to see it ! 😁😁😁

For me, this song gives a certain vibe of desperation, think the bad ending of an indie horror game. The game that would match it would probably have themes of mystery and existentialism, think Who's Lila or Lily's well. The song is very very powerful and I could easily see it in some top notch artistic pieces. That's how I vibe with the song tho, it's a very open song and that's super cool

As a long-time fan of the post-rock genre, I get a lot of post-rock vibes from the instrumentals of the song - very atmospheric and ambient, but at times they cut like a knife. Combine that with the almost distant screams of the vocals, and it turns into an almost distant song, if that makes sense. At the same time, it also, like, wraps itself around you, like a siren's song. (sorry if that last sentence was cliché, it was just the first thing that popped into my head, haha)
Like, the best way I can envision this song is like you're standing over a tall cliff with cloudy skies rolling over you, the occasional crashing of waves or a distant boom of thunder or cluster of rain knocking you out of an otherwise zen-like state.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it's so cool the genre of music you're branching into, and you're doing an incredible job of evolving into it. Keep up the amazing work.

This is absolutely astounding Masuna! The mixing is phenomenal, everything sounds seamless and very even across the board, and I'm in love. The way that the distant screams somewhat represent the depressive lows while also keeping in line with the main chords feeling impermanent and dreamy is just *chef's kiss*. I can see myself falling alseep to this and then getting startled awake at certain points.
Also, kinda lowkey inspiring me to make a Lofi edited version to mirror this to represent maladaptive daydreaming and depressive episodes. Kinda feel the vibe from the representations of disassociation. Gonna bench that idea for a future project maybe, I don't have any musical talent lmao.

Throwback to that time that I first discovered this, listened to the first three seconds, thought “ooh, nice chill music” and proceeded to turn it on when I went to sleep.
It was not nice chill music, but still a banger nonetheless.

I made lyrics off of what i heard:
are you trying? All i see is.
    Screms
    failure
And that pretty much for the whole thing
