What makes the encounter rate worse is how slow and tedious the battles feel. I tried playing Persona 1 about 2 months ago and after going through like 3 encounters, I just stopped playing and never went back. The only good thing is the battle music (both PS1 and PSP)
Been playing through the entire smt franchise in roughly order of release and so far the absolute worst encounter rate was in the smt1 government building, persona 1 isn't even in the discussion. Literally every 2-4 steps was an encounter. Only place in the game where the agro indicator was always full red. I guess it was only 1 area and not a whole game though...
I don't remember an aggro indicator in SMT1, but I only played the Super Famicom version of the game a couple years ago so idk. But what's especially bad about encounters in SMT1 is that at the end of battle you can get a "Enemies were attracted by the noise!" message and another encounter begins right then and there. If you think an encounter every step is bad try 3 encounters every step.
@@kbab5329 yeah i played the ps1 port seeing as that had an english fan translation. I played it earlier this year and i don't remember there being an "enemies were attracted" message but there were definitely consecutive encounters in the ps1 port as well. I'm pretty sure the 3 in a row encounters were mostly in that building too, so yeah 3 in a row, every 3 steps
I normally dont have a problem playing an older rpg but this is one of the clunkiest rpgs ive ever played Its almost charming how much of a “first try” of a game it is. Some decisions are baffling
@@DraphEnjoyer It's also very not fun, most battles strategies are just auto battle with your best moves also the tile system in battles is my biggest nightmare

It isn't bugged, it is different on purpose (kinda a good desicion but also bad), compared to the PS1, in the PSP you need nearly a quarter of the steps to get into a battle, but the enemies have nearly 70% of their original HP, they do less damage and drop half of their original money and exp the original idea was to make every encounter have the importance of a boss or mini-boss, but in the PSP edition it was changed to what we have now to make farming easier, and knowing how the encounter rate is so high they added ways to disable it like the skill estoma that completely disables random encounters for a time
@@reypato1738 How is it different on purpose if the encounter rate algorithm is ported directly from the PSX version? The reason encounters happen more often in the PSP version is that the PSP clock speed is 333MHz, whereas the PSX was 33MHz, which made it run the encounter algorithm faster than it should. Or at least, that's what the guy who made the encounter patch for the PSP version said. Also, where can I find the original stats of enemies for the PSX version? I thought they only made Persona 2 easier on PSP, but I guess I was wrong.
@@chronica6457 Checked the SMT wiki (which I know isn't good), and the only game that has different stats for enemies was Innocent Sin. But yeah, the games are probably easier on PSP than PSX mostly trough QOL.
INSIDE OF A CALLING‼️🗣
Don't worry pal, in persona 2 you can walk 10 step before the fight instead of 5.
really raises my expectations 😅 I'm planning on playing it after this
@@ImDigas 1 is by far the worst, 2 is goofy but the best one i think
The encounter rate in p2 is actually the biggest one in the series, at least in the psx version. Btw the psp port of p1 sucks
Dw we got estoma

Learn to walk when you see punks or wear bracelet, else they "ey ey ey"😂

If they ever re-release these games, which they won’t. Making encounters less frequent would be amazing.
OMG is this the origins of Skibidi Toilet?!
It’s a traditional Japanese myth I believe. It shows up in Zelda Majora’s Mask too.
Go away, along with that brain rot as well.
I thought the same thing
no Hanako-san is an unrelated urban legend about a japanese ghost girl who haunts toilets, but it's weird that its happened twice lmao
