I love Shortwave and using my Tecsun PL-680! What got me interested in Shortwave is my fascination with Number Stations!
Thanks for this video! Took the C Crane out last night and was sitting in a snow storm in Southeast Alaska listening to a AM station in Sacramento California.
The xhdata D-808 is way under 100$ and has everything air band included...😎
I have purchased several SW/MW/LW & SSB radios over the past year, and find I like my Yaesu Ft-991A the best for listening. I did pick up the Tecsun AN-48x active loop antenna and it has mad using my SW radios easier....well maybe not easier, but I am able to tune into frequencies that I was not able to before. Thanks for everything, your information on the hobby is wonderful!

I still love my PL-660, but yes I can see something replacing it at some point.
I only last night heard my first numbers station while streaming the OfficialSWLChannel stream and following some fun SWL action there.

I've bought a Tecsun PL-368 from Amazon few months ago and I'm enjoying it so far. And I'm trying to learn more about receiving amateur radio on my radio now.
Nice job, as usual. I would be interested in a review, and your opinion on the Malachite SDR for SWLing. Keep up the good work!
Looked like a strong signal. So both performed well. I would have liked to seen a test on a weak signal or on some DX and see if they are the same.

Just got a Tecsun PL880. I have a General Class license (KK7AVP) but can't afford an HF rig. I've forgotten most of the protocols, so thought I'd get a SW receiver to eavesdrop on the HAM bands so I'm ready to go when I finally do manage to save enough money for that HF rig. I might go the SDR route first, though.
So I'm super new to this radio hobby. Not really even sure how I stumbled on it but it has me so intrigued. I went on the link you provided and saw a little $20 radio.. Can I use it to just listen? Not interested in talking on it since I'm so new to it. Thanks for the all info!
I just got to figure out an alternative power source for my S-38 figuring petroleum won't be an option to run my generator I got to get enough tube supply already have a box but the rectifier seems to go quicker

I use my SDF dongle with an Android tablet. The antenna is very important.
You said your handheld was an Icom RS230, I do not find that radio but I do find a RS30. Is that the same radio? Thanks, Don
Josh wish you had listed all the websites and SDR used in the chat today. I listen to Shortwave when I can, I have a old Kaito KA1103 which I have had good results with since 2007. I also picked up a old Lafayette HA600A from a guy here for $20.00 works pretty good on longwire.

Are there any TH-cam channels that livestream shortwave radio or other kinds of radio stations? I know about the buzzer. I'm trying to find other things that I can listen to on TH-cam and then maybe try out a webs DR to see if I could pick them up.
Not licensed yet, but already bought the Yaesu ft70d. Not employed at the moment, but may need to buy a Shortwave for listening just in case of zombies, aliens, or the economic disemboweling of America. Gotta sell the 7yo. (Jus kidding people. He’s not worth enough yet.)

Will an antenna above the house meant for tv work for shortwave?
Will my metal roof enhance or diminish my shortwave signal?
TV antenna will not work for shortwave
Try a temporary connection to that metal roof. Nothing permenet and somthing you can quick connect to. Of course a 8 ft Cooper ground is a good bet.... I am intrigued!
You had made a video once from a hotel room where you connected a telescopic antenna to the skywave. What telescopic antenna works best for this radio?
The stock one. Or a long wire.

Weirdest thing I ever heard on shortwave was a Romanian folk song which sounded identical to the Stonecutters anthem from the Simpsons. Broadcast was in Romanian so never caught the name of the song. Lol

I just purchased this radio after watching your video. I bought the one with the Antenna port on the side. I would like to connect the radio to an SDR but not sure exactly how to do that. What do I need?
It doesn’t have IQ out, or any pass through for an SDR so there isn’t anything you can do to plug it in. Just plug the antenna into the SDR.

I wonder if little sw radios like the Elton elite executive actually work well?
TH-cam is getting terrible, work keeps me from being able to catch the live stream so I watch the vids, and YT throws up an ad every 3-4 mins! Makes it maddening to watch these anymore...

not me I went for the Eaton Elite 750 not to say it really is an amazing SW Radio Powerful Receiver the price is $450.00 and I used $375.00 on eBay I have no regrets about the radio delivers Period.

Discord is free. HamSphere is a simulated game that is pay to win.
My disappointment isnt the lack of stations on shortwave...my 20 dollar cheapie picks up lots....but back in the 80s there was so much good music on shortwave, rock, alternative, deep cuts and now it is all politcal or religious garbage I dont care for at all. I dont live in an area with lots of am and fm stations available.

Sorry, allow me to introduce you to Livestreams. This is recorded live and runs about 60 minutes or more. Much like live television, we often introduce ourselves, talk with the audience, and cover some house keeping topics up front. If you see videos that are close or over 60 minutes, it is likely a live stream.
