Every time we see artman, they get more impressive. I'm glad that both of you found each other! I'm on the hunt for my own coder, since I'm a great game designer/problem solver but I can't program quickly at all.
You did great. I also partook in a jam recently, we managed to ship a game that got into the top 3.5% overall among over a thousand games. We got 39th place. Which is surprising considering how unpolished, buggy it was in the first builds, and how much of a disorganized mess our work was.... which totally did not make me panic as a pixel artist... not at all.. (Sadly I didn't get like top 2% in graphics, my pixel art isn't that good, but people seemed to like it enough...)
@@HelperWesley Thanks..... (now if only this would help me feel confident into making the games I wanted to make lol.... self-esteem can be a jerk sometimes)
@@costelinha1867 Yeah... I know that feeling. 😅 Because of my job and this channel, I'm often comparing myself to some of the best people in those spaces, which isn't great for my self-esteem either. But I just keep doing it because it's kind of become a core part of me at this point, I'll never be the best, but this is what I do. 🤷♂ A lumberjack cuts wood, and a HelperWesley makes games and videos about making those games. 😅
Loved the change of putting footage of you guys working on the game live. Gives the video a more homey realistic vibe instead of a super polished video "describing" how someone makes a game
FINALLY A NEW VIDEO. I CAN FINALLY EAT MY LUNCH AT PEACE AGAIN. All honesty, I was missing your videos, the editing improved A LOT. A lot more humorous. Also 0:57 AY DAS ME!
Congrats on your placement! I've always wanted to make a warioware type game, but my game ideas end up being too complicated and I lose interest. Your game inspired me to look into giving it another shot :)
Warioware was an ambitious choice. 😅 I like what we created, and the system we made where I could easily copy/paste existing minigames to add more to the game, that really helped when I was creating them all on the first night.
Great content, have a question, Im working on game on Gdevelop and so far I have kind of big project let say 20% of itge basics are done but my problem is that I have like 2000+ events and for the game I will need a lot more events, looking in the forum read that Gdevelop can't support bigger complex games, do you think that Gdevelop can manage a big game? Because I don't want to keep working on the game and at the end of the day I will not be able to launch it. Regards.
I haven't run in to any issues with large games using GDevelop. As long as you're properly segmenting and optimizing your game, there shouldn't be any problem making a big 2D game with GDevelop. (Unless you're trying to make the next Final Fantasy game. lol.) If you're concerned, check out the games on the GDevelop games page to see some of the games made with the engine. gdevelop.io/games
@@HelperWesley Thanks for the response, do you have any video or tips about optimizing, because when I want to preview my game sometimes it takes a few seconds that make me believe that I will have issues if I keep adding code ( the project is like 20% finished).

Wahoo
The legendary artist is here! All shower this person with cheer!

A god wandering on earth painting the world with colorful pixels!
at man oil
woah pixel art guy! :o
The takeaway is - pretty much anything can work for indies if they have a strong artist on the team.
It definitely helps. lol
Congrats on getting into the top 2% for graphics! And also congrats on not collapsing during the jam 😅
Collapsed afterwards, not during. 😎
That's how it's done 😎👉

Only because I remembered to record it this time. 😅
I always love watching these dev logs, they're really inspiring and even when I'm burnt out working on my game I get encouraged to prevail! 😄
Glad I can help. 😉
"Ended up being a little phallic" we've all been there.
It happens in every jam. 😅
Very impressive how many minigames you added and fantastic art as always. Great job chaps!

I felt like no was speaking too fast, But no made myself laugh a few times while editing. 😅
I have everytime the feeling that half of your problems in a jam would not exist when you would read properly the instructions of the jam xD
That would probably help with most problems in my life. 😅
Love this video, artmanoil cooked as always!
Love the minigames
Congratulations on top 2%
Art did an awesome job, 34th best out of over 2000 other artists is definitely something to be proud of. 😉
bro you are the best developer i have learned many things from you👍
I had a blast playing it during the rating period, you definitely deserve top 2%! I'm pretty happy with the top 10% overall I got :D
Nothing wrong with top 10% at all, especially out of over 2k games. It's wild to think about. 👀
6.1k views in 5 days? WE UP WITH THIS ONE bit fr tho, your videos are actually really fun to watch
Yes, the graphics is really good, your gfx artist is very talented. I cannot comment on the gameplay since I did not play the game.
ArtManOil is great. 💪
So happy for you, Wesley. What an achievement. Well done!
Thanks. This makes up for the Ludum Dare jam I didn't technically join, but made a video for. 😅

Thanks!
damn that look so unique, i love it
2% is really good! Praise for oil man 🎉🎉
Art Man Oil is COOKING HARD MAN
The oil is definitely for cooking.
Art is super good at art.
Congrats 🎉🎉
Thanks!
Mmm, yes, pancakes smothered in maple syrup. A true Canadian, you are.
🇨🇦
Is this why the fireside jam results are delayed to friday??
Jk, congrats on the top 2%!
3:27 oh wow, how did it get there !?!? I'm shocked !
It must have been summoned by all of the goat sacrifices. 🐐
Looks great! Did you consider upgrading to a full game, maybe with a battle mode for 2 players? Could do good on switch i think 😊
We've definitely thought about it, but right now we're focused on spent shells.
But maybe in the future. 😅
When is your next spent shells devlog coming out?
