I've been injured for about 4 years now, so basically I'm re-learning Capoeira (after 10 years experience I might add). The most difficult thing has been finding exercises that ease me back into training. This session is perfect!!
I’m sorry to hear you were injured. I had a brain injury and I had to learn how to walk and talk again. I love this video it gives me some direction for a workout that’s not too hard on my body.
I'm currently 34 but back in my teens I used to break dance and I was very acrobatic. I learned of capoeria back in 1998, thanks to character the Eddie Gordo on Tekken 3. I was geek'd ever since. Unfortunately, there were no classes here in Texas. So I use to go on practice mode in Tekken as Eddie and I studied all his movements and techniques. It was very difficult to learn, I'll admit. However, NOW, I'm waking up my skills. Your video is very helpful and I'm going to learn more from yah.
I really think literally every combat sport athletes should do capoiera. As purely a self-defense/combat-art, capoiera may not be the most effective on its own, but the entire art produces some of the most mobile, stable, and strong people. The fluidity, grace, and strength in full ROM that this art produces in its practitioners is something to take note of. A lot of martial arts are so hard on the body and can lead to producing a lot of people who, while experts and competent in their given fields, are stiff and in pain a lot of times.
I have been practicing for 20 minutes and I am already in love with Capoeira! I have always admired the swiftness and dance of this fighting style! I am going to train with your videos because I feel your love for it and how uncomplicated it is when slowed down! Keep it up 💪

Unless it's bujinkan, whatever fight sport you do will help to give you some experience about distance, but that's all, as far as I know, only bujinkan and capoeira have the philosophy of evasive moments instead of block which need a lot more physical conditions and speed, so capoeira can help you with any other fight sport, but the other way around is not true.
