      Hongdae and Itaewon are safe, nobody are there to hurt you okay? 😂
      Now if you get yourself drunk af especially as a woman, then there will always be some sinful men lurking out there to take advantage and that's common across anywhere in the world. So women can go to clubs in Hongdae or Itaewon and have fun, but go as a group to look after each other and don't over drink. And never accept drinks from strangers you met at bar/club. It's absolutely safe for women to enjoy their evenings in the night life of Hongdae and Itaewon areas, just use common sense.

      Applying "dangerous" to Hongdae and Itaewon is not right. However more incidents that may happen in that district due to alcohol consumptions, but it's not "dangerous" per say. Plenty of local and foreign women go there to have a good time with no problems. Dissuading women not to go there is wrong. I would instead say go there and enjoy the busking performances of Hongdae and check out hip clubs, enjoy the good food and variety of foreign cuisines of Itaewon + cool jazz bars, but exercise common sense precaution by going with a group of friends (not only for safety, but going with friends are more fun), drink responsibly, and DON'T EVER accept a drink from a stranger.

    Some people confuse Koreans' anxiety about the English language with genophobic behavior. Such anxiety makes Koreans seem standoffish and less approachable, but don't be fooled by those elements. It'll take some time to break the ice when people meet for the first time. Starting a conversation with simple Korean phrases certainly helps and is appreciated by the locals. I don't deny the existence of racism in this world, but it's also true that people can have a good friendship when we are willing to jump over the hurdle of misunderstanding.

    3. surveillance cameras are everywhere,

    South Korea is definitely not more liberal compared to Japan. actually it's much more conservative.

    • @nomomania6827
      @nomomania6827 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That depends, Japan is way more conservative than Korea when it comes to opinions from general people to media. Korea has always ranked higher than Japan in the freedom of speech index. Japan is more open when it comes to adult entertainment. Music industry Kpop vs Jpop: Jpop is more conservative, things you see and lyrics in Kpop wouldn't be allowed in Jpop in fear of controversy. Immigration index shows Korea is slightly more open to foreign immigration than Japan. Latest Gender gap index: Korea is ahead of Japan, although both aren't high on the list. Hierarchy is important in both countries, although I think Korea emphasizes more on senority based on age than Japan.
      So it depends on what areas you look at, to flat out say Korea is much more conservative appears wrong and all the data shows that.

    • @binnie8559
      @binnie8559 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      that means you've never been to both countries. Japan is really conservative in so many cases.
      they even put pressure on how you sit, how you eat, how you dress and even how you use chopsticks.
      i mean, if you work at a convenience store, you can't use a smartphone and can not even sit in a chair when there's no customer. there are too many social rules. go and see how they look the same when they go to work because of the strict dress code

    • @grow1820
      @grow1820 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a Japanese individual, I can assert that Korea is more liberal. In Japan, having a tattoo can result in less humane treatment, and many onsens may deny entry.
      The two countries are incomparable in this regard; a movie that speaks ill of Japan would not be produced, let alone released.
      Conversely, in Korea, films that criticize the government or address the country's issues are permissible.
      There is freedom to create content, regardless of whether it casts the country in a negative light, which is not feasible in Japan.

    Japonya’daki okulumda Koreli sınıf arkadaşımın izinsiz dokunmaları, bacaklarıma bakması ve 2 günlüğüne gittiğim Kore’de ilk gün akşam hostele giderken metrodan çıkışta bir Koreli’nin beni durdurup çıkma teklif etmesi epey ürkütmüştü, üstüne çok fazla tecavüz vakası olduğunu duyduktan sonra açıkcası pek güvenli olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Acilen güzellik standartlarını normalleştirmeliler ve cinsellikle ilgili tabularını Japonya kadar olmasa da bir dereceye kadar yıkmalılar. Bastırılmış cinsellik ile çok büyük komplekslerin sebep olduğu sorunların sosyolojik ve psikolojik olarak araştırılması gerekiyor. Benim ülkem daha beter ama en azından öyle değilmiş bir izlenim bırakmıyoruz. Ben Koreliler ile tanışana kadar Koreliler’in çok centilmen, saygılı, ahlaklı olduğunu sanıyordum.
