Just want to thank you SO much! I’m three weeks into using oil after hand washing, Kerasol at night, and a weekly oil soak. The difference I can already see is astonishing to me. At 65, I’ve never had nice natural nails, but they now seem to be in my reach! Many thanks.
I am so happy that I have found your channel. I began getting gel manicures in February because I went on a cruise and I wanted lovely nails. After that I went every two weeks or so to get them redone. Everyone who did them used the e-file to remove the old gel polish, and after a few times, I don’t have to tell you what was happening. I asked a nail tech if there was a protective coating of something I could get so I could let the nails grow in fresh. She put builder gel on and made it very thick! Well, today I had it removed and my nails are pretty beat up. They look ragged and they are tender! I filed the free edge short and treated my dry, damaged nails and cuticles to a long hot oil soak (I used jojoba oil.) Then shea butter. They feel a lot better already.
Hey, Anna.😃 Your client should not be worried since your services are available to her. Can't wait to see her nails and skin around them in a month. I bet that they will look so much better and healthier then. Say hi to MSL, too.🙂
Ania, your videos are so, so helpful! They completely changed my nailcare or rather I now care about my nails instead of just making them look ok... 10 weeks into recovery and IBX and they are so much better I first time believe I may have nice, strong, healthy nails! Ogromne dzięki ♥️
Yes... I have also followed your advice and I have seen a huge difference in in my nails and cuticles. They are also growing better! Thank you, Thank you!!!
Another informative video - my nails looked like this (maybe worse) just a few months ago after removing extensions and biogel. They look so much better after following your advice. I tend to be a little OCD with some things. Removal of dry skin around the nail being one of them. I was watching and saying out loud, “she didn’t get it all, she missed a spot!” You explained why! Thank you! Refresh the skin! Why do we exfoliate the skin on our face? To help with the absorption of lotions etc into our skin. By a gentle refreshing of skin around the nails the oils and creams should absorb better too. Thank you so much. I always learn so much from your videos!
Hi Robin! Thank you for your comment! Yes, exactly, we exfoliate gently to help with absorption and exfoliation helps with natural cell turnover BUT over exfoliation hurts the skin. It causes inflammation (even if you don't see it with a naked eye) and it can lead to excessive skin thickening (like callus for example is a result of pressure and friction). I happened upon your videos while searching for ways to heal my overworked fingernails and am I ever glad I did! I subscribed immediately! Two weeks ago, I took off all the dip powder, started doing the oil soaks and Kerasal treatments. I apply oil each time I wash my hands. I also started using the Dazzle Dry basecoat and topcoat for protection and will do the IBX treatment as soon as it is delivered. The improvement in just two weeks is noticeable! I know this will be a long process, but its worth it to have healthy, natural nails again! Thank you so much, Anna, for sharing your vast knowledge!!!
I started Kerasal last week and my splits on the corners of my thumb cuticles have completely healed, and the split skin in the center of my thumb is gone! I also have less cuticle growth, if that makes sense? Thanks Anna for suggesting this, I finally gave it a try and am very happy! I'm switching from gel to regular lacquer for the foreseeable future and am trying to grow healthy short nails, and these videos really help.
Oh Anna, I’m so sad I cannot find anyone locally who can do IBX properly. Watching you dab off the products etc…I could see the tech had literally no idea what she was doing. I actually paid a long price on my toenails for that improper procedure. Anyway it’s always a pleasure to watch your professionalism…-Jenny
Gracias por tu ayuda, mis uñas han tenido una mejoría notable. Tus consejos me han ayudado mucho y he confiado en los productos sugeridos y Estoy muy complacida.
I'm dealing with this right now after a traumatic salon visit in January. They're still growing out and I am hoping and wishing that my nail beds grow out to their original length. One of them was so thin that it broke before it could grow out.
I took my artificial nails of after 30 years. My natural nail always peeled. The natural curve of my nail is getting flatter, that is the motivation for trying natural nails again. My nails are very thin and weak. I am oil soaking every 3 days, oiling after washing hands and using cream with 10% urea. Different make that is available in South Africa. When do I start using Mavala Scientifique. I am using your videos as inspiration and mentoring.
Couldn’t find the Kerasal at Sally’s beauty supply or Walmart so I mixed Vaseline with glycerine and apply at night. I did find Jojoba oil at Sally’s and apply every time my hands get wet. I’ve been using gel polish to strengthen my thin nails but the polish peels off after about 3 days. I don’t rough up my nail beds before applying gel because they are naturally thin. Applying OPI primer helps to hold gel polish but again can’t find it at Amazon, Sally’s or Walmart.
The most important ingredients in Kerasal are the 10% urea and 5% salicylic acid. I have links in the description box. It’s best to buy jojoba in bulk, meaning larger size. Way better price
I wore acrylic nails for 20 years but haven't worn them for a good 5 years and still, my nails are paper thin, very short, won't grow and I can still see divots in them. I don't know what to do with them and am thinking about just having acrylics put back on. I have ugly hands and the long nails made them look better. Any ideas, I would be grateful for!!
Anna, i hope you can clarify something for me. I have a similar situation. My nail tech used an e-file to remove my acrylics and removed too much of my natural nail back around the end of January. After watching several of your videos back then, I thought your recommendation was to use NO polish of any kind, and to let the nails grow out until the thin part was gone. In this video you are putting base and top coat on her nails (but no color.) When should we go with nothing at all, when can we use base & top and when can we add a color layer?
It depends on the damage. Dazzle Dry is very gentle and the nails were so bendy and soft they hurt so DD offers some protection. I don’t recommend polish for protection as a default. Please see my todays TH-cam live where I talk about it a bit. I actually mention in several of my videos for some damage to wear clear coat of DD (base and top). It’s not necessary but in cases like this it offers some relief.
Hi there I’ve just discovered your channel and it’s wonderful. I have now ordered myself a jojoba oil and a little pipette bottle to keep at work with my cera ve moisturiser. Thank you xx
Would love if you could do a video on “different healthy nails” I feel like many people may have healthy nails shut since they do not look like an “instagram” nail we overcompensate with over buffing etc and end up doing more harm.
thank you for your wonderful channel on natural nail care and damage care! any recommendations on fixing a damaged nail plate that keeps splitting vertically down the middle? once it reaches the free edge it keeps splitting. i only see people talk about horizontal splits from a nail breaking
Could you please send me a picture of your nail that is splitting? I will make a video about it and I need examples. Please send a good quality photo (smartphones are best) on white background, email in "actual size" (not small size!) with title "Horizontal nail split" thesalonlife@gmail.com

I’ve been doing the oil treatment like you showed in a video awhile ago with sunflower, jojoba, avocado oil plus 1 other (can’t think of the name of it). My nails are worse now then when I started. I just want pretty long, strong nails!
Thank you for all the help with my nails. I wonder if you can suggest something for a ridge in a nail that has now split. what causes this and how can I prevent it? Thank you
Hello. I recently found your channel and am enjoying learning how to take better care of my nails. I just finished my first warm oil soak. Should I use the oil only once or, since it’s just me, can I use it more than once? Also, I had been painting my nails every weeks for several months. The ends were thin and peeling, but I followed your instructions in the video and filed then very They are very discolored - an orangey color. Does this mean they are very damaged?
Hi. I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I took your advice on nail care. Gently pushing back the cuticle, moisturising frequently, etc. It works perfectly, and my nails are much healthier. Donyou have some tips about toenails? I suppose it's pretty much the same, but I feel it's somehow harder to keep up with toenail care...
Hello Dain, good question :) Dry manicure is when we clean up the cuticle without cuticle removers and soaking the nails. The client washes her hands before manicure though :) Washing is OK. Thank you for your kind words!!
I have a problem with fine, splitting, flaking nails. I have to clip them back to keep starting over again. I want to use press on nails, but won't do this until my nails are in better condition. I use creams and lotions regularly, but unless I wear cumbersome house gloves, they still flake at the free edge. Is there any end to this problem? Also when I file I get hang nails, so I can't win. Thanks for this great informative video. 🙂💜💐🇬🇧
such nice information. pleasant voice. and nice pace in the film. I live in Denmark and cannot buy this brand. it is especially the oil you use at the end. can you recommend another that can be bought in Denmark. greetings lene
My cuticles look great thanks to you, and my nails are short but I’m having difficulty growing them out, although my cuticles look healthy my nails still keep peeling 😢
I had a bit of trouble following the steps. Were the steps as follows: perform dry manicure on both hands. Then in one hand wipe with alcohol then apply IBX repair, heat it then cure it then wipe excess off?
Hi Anna. I love watching you work and wondered if nails split down vertically will ever repair? I'm in the UK so kerasal is difficult to get hold of. Trying oil and creams but not working. Any tips? Thank you. 👍
Hi Dawn, I'm making a video about vertical splits and need examples, can you send me a picture of your nail so I can use it in my video? As clear as you can send it thesalonlife@gmail.com In UK Kerasal is available from iHerb for about 9£ Kerasal bit.ly/3XCWKvF
Hello, what do you think about protecting the nails with acrygel? It would prevent the nails from breaking as they are very soft. They will have time to grow under the acrygel while being protected. Thank you ☺️
Hi Anna, this is a genuine question, this client does not seem to have any open wounds. While I understand the concept of IBX, why would a soft gel overlay not be an option? I would imagine having something over the nail nail would protect it more. Thanks in advance.
I love challenging questions. I know from experience that nothing will stick well to nails that are this thin and spongy on a client who is hard on her hands and doesn't baby her nails. I order for anything to stick I would have to do 2 things. Use a 100 or even 180 grit file. or Use a very strong chemical bonder. Many would do both. And I don't want to do either. #1. Some nails were so spongy that they were giving me goosebumps, they hurt. I can't imagine filing these nails. #2. The strong chemical bonders are very allergenic. Some have very small molecules that can penetrate such thin nail and expose the client's skin (the nail bed) and potentially cause permanent allergic reaction. I know many nail techs who used strongly bonding soft gels ending up with clients all over sudden coming back with horrible reactions like this www.patreon.com/posts/overexposure-to-80195503 I can't even imagine having a client coming back with nails like this. #3. I only choose to use hypoallergenic products. They have a gentle bond. They don't bond very well to damaged nails. CND Shellac is not for everyone. It works well for normal, healthy nails. I know for sure that this client would have peeling after couple days and that would cause even more damage. I also would use CND Shellac against their instructions. Also let's not forget. Nail enhancements are designed and proven to be safe used on normal nails that have normal thickness. I really don't believe that gels protect the nails. They for sure disguise damage, they make the nails feel stronger but they don't fix anything and they make the nails weaker underneath, not stronger. Thats like putting veneers on teeth with cavities. Sure they will look better and will look healthy but they will weaken the teeth and won't fix any problems. In many cases veneers are OK for cosmetic reasons. For people who take care of their teeth and not for people who like opening beer cans with their teeth LOL.
Love your channel, I’m only interested in natural nail care and have been looking for someone like you for a long time. When applying second coat of topcoat, do you have to apply base between topcoats?
In this case you can put the top coat right after the initial top coat. Once the top coat is dry completely or if you wanna add top coat after few days another layer of base is needed.
I have a question for her page- does she have any tips for nurses? We do frequent hand washing and use hand sanitizer in a shift and sometimes skin on your hands will crack/be dry and rough by the end of the shift 😢 it can be especially painful during winter season
Hi Monica! Well, the best thing you can do to try your best. Outside of work use urea based lotion and a drop of jojoba oil around the nails after each hand wash. I also recommend Glove in a bottle. This absorbs without a trace very quickly and it really protects the skin. Just a pea size amount. At night lanolin based cream or vaseline and bit of Kerasal around the nails Gloves in a Bottle amzn.to/3FBQv55 Kerasal (Amazon) amzn.to/3dy31F7 Kerasal (iHerb) iherb.co/LUt9pz73
The clients nail place must be so sore 😔 this is why I don't go to bad nail techs where I live anymore I do my own natural nails with just nail polish I use a lot of oil and lotion and do oil treatments and a manicure on myself once a week or every two weeks. I'm trying to find a good base coat not a strengthener there just marketing etc I want one that helps the nails but not sure what to believe 🤔
No. Dazzle Dry offers 2 things that I love. No yellowing and 5 min dry. If you use another polish between DD base and top you can still get yellowing and it will not dry in 5 min. To me it’s a waste of an expensive base and top. If I use a normal polish I would use their base and top. Ps. Here is why even though you would use DD base you can still get yellowing Chemist explains bit.ly/3QSkU2O
Thanks for replying! So far, DD is the only polish that doesn’t make my nails look worse when I remove it. What I was really trying to ask was have you ever tried putting regular polish OVER the DD base and top. Kind of like a protective layer - then following up with regular polish and regular top coat.
Hello, I never recommend using e-file by DIYers, it's an excellent tool if needed when used by a person who is trained using it. I have seen way too much damage using e-file. I even have hard time using it with my non dominant hand without causing damage to the nail. When the manicures are done on a regular bases (quick mani weekly) and basic skin care followed then there is not much to do Cuticle work th-cam.com/video/d_BAnJlJ1Bs/w-d-xo.html 3 simple habits th-cam.com/video/8LXeYtTG8OU/w-d-xo.html How I do my mani th-cam.com/video/31hzp1ERN1k/w-d-xo.html
They look so good. I love the way you shape the nails. What oils are good to nourish dry brittle nails ? I have thick vertical ridges and the Crack all the time.
Hi Elly! Jojoba oil is best. Here is a quick video about warm oil soaks Dry, Brittle, Splitting, Peeling Nails? Solution: DIY Warm Oil Treatment! th-cam.com/video/io335eWf6R4/w-d-xo.html
Is this problem from water damage or? What should she be doing to help at home. Ok warm oil soak once a week. Question, do healthy nails show the white moon on each nail
What does it mean to heat the IBX up for a minute before it is cured? How is it heated up? Also, do you cure the second coat of IBX in a UV lamp? Thank you, Sally
Hi Sally. We have a video we were go into detail about the IBX treatment. You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/1sQYc5rWQF8/w-d-xo.html We hope that helps!
Oh dear, poor lady! Her nails looked so "ouchy". This is why I would never get acrylics or even a gel manicure; the risk of nail damage is not worth it to me. She has lovely hands and beautifully shaped nails, naturally. If she can grow them out and keep them moisturized, they will be lovely.
Just another option. I pretty much always do dry manicures at the salon. With e-file I can be very detailed. For DIY I definitely don't recommend e-file but cuticle remover instead
Hi Alena! They are good but they are not really better than any other fine grit files. If you have a coarse file just smooth the end (the free edge) with the buffer block :)
I love you videos..I just started watching them. I see from other comments you have recommended Kerasal. I looked on Amazon, there's several different types. Can you tell me exactly which on I need for nail repair?
Hi Anna! With any dryness or some weakness to the nails, I would assume that DAILY oil soaks would be good, or at least massaging a good nail oil in daily, but you say only once a week is needed. Why is that? Is over-oiling nails bad for the nails?
Hi FB! Once a week is more reasonable long term. You can apply some oil after each hand wash. That would be very helpful. Basically you are replacing what you washed off.
Most of "nail strengtheners" are just marketing. There is nothing really special about them. I looked at Dr. Remedy. The ingredients look like a standard nail polish with some tiny tiny tiny amount of oil at the very end of the ingredient list. It's better to condition nails with pure oil (warm oil treatment) and then put the cheapest coat of polish for some shine if you like the look PS. The marketing behind this brand is quite over the top. It's 10 free formula lists that the polish is free of things that are never in nail polish anyway like xylene for example (it's an ingredient found in some permanent markers and not polish I don't think) and parabens (there is nothing wrong with paragons anyway but it's a preservative used in water based formulas, not nail polish) Also "animal testing" is not an ingredient. I mean I'm very glad they don't test on animals but come on. What's next, gluten free (wait, that exists already, even though we don't eat polish), free of added sugar? free of enriched uranium? free of asbestos? free of steroids? Maybe these companies should start talking about things that are in the product instead of what isn't? ingredient list: Ethyl Acetate - solvent Butyl Acetate - solvent Nitrocellulose - film forming (can be damaging to the nail plate just like any other polish) Acetyl Tributyl Citrate - plasticiser Adipic Acid / Neopentyl Glycol /Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer - film forming Hydroxybutyric Acid/Hydroxypentanoic Acid Copolymer filler that makes the polish look nice and maybe smooth the look of the coating? Isopropyl Alcohol solvent Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate - emulsifier (keeps the ingredients together) Stearalkonium Hectorite (thickener) Titanium Dioxide (white pigment) Tocopheryl Acetate (preservative) Iron Oxides (colourant) Yellow 5 Lake (colourant) Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) SeedOil (and) Allium Sativum (Garlic) Bulb Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil (and) Lavandula Angustifolia(Lavender) Extract Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil Biotin (are you serious?)
@@TheSalonLife quick question about your comment on biotin in nail polish. You wrote "are you serious". I was under the impression that biting was good for nails. Can you elaborate on what you mean about biotin in nail polish formulas?
Hi Valerie, putting microscopic amount of biotin on your nails I have a feeling has the same effect as trying to gain weight by rubbing some oils on their nails. Or trying to get drunk by rubbing some alcohol on their nails. You have to eat/drink often excessive amounts of these in order for this to happen.
ps. Also you have to be careful with oral supplementation of biotin www.aad.org/dw/dw-insights-and-inquiries/archive/2021/biotin-supplementation-hair-nails
Not really. But often the words are used interchangeable. Oil is a best strengthener, all of the other ones don't really work, or work as well as just plain nail polish just by adding layers to the nails. Here is a info about that: th-cam.com/video/io335eWf6R4/w-d-xo.html Here is a video about hardeners.th-cam.com/video/2JYu0wZcSt0/w-d-xo.html
As I can‘t get hold of DD here in Germany, should I use another base coat for protection of my damaged nails? I have one from LCN and Top Coat from CND or LCN. Any other suggestion? xxx
Hi Jule! I would try these 2 from Catrice. They are nitrocellulose free and they don't last long and they tend to peel after 2-3 days but I find they don't yellow the nails. I really don't think they have the magical qualities like they advertise but they might help the nails feel a bit less sensitive if the nails are very overfiled. www.catrice.eu/es-es/p/9335010001/nail-repair-nail-building-base-coat www.catrice.eu/es-es/p/9053070001/nail-building-base-coat I think they are the same product, just new packaging.
Hello Elisabetta! So sorry for replying this late. If your mom's skin is cracked then I would not recommend this cream. This cream is good for hard callused skin that is not broken. I would suggest cream like Bephanten. Also she should only use gentle cleansers to wash hands with so the skin is less stripped. Ciao Elisabetta!
In one of her videos Anna said that she doesn't like to clip nails because if they are brittle they can crack\split, cause the clipping puts additional stress to a limited area of the nail.
Exactly Tumasia! And also with clipping if you are clipping already short nails it's easy to clip the skin around the nails, the eponychium which bleeds and hurts like heck.
Hello I’m Regina and need a little help with my nails I have damaged nail from too much filling I would like know how to sand you my photos so you can see and tell me what to do
Hello D, Filing in 1 direction seems to be an old wives tale. I've been filing like this for 25 years and my clients don't experience peeling. Peeling is from damaged surface and not how you file. Also if you file with coarser file the finish will be rough and it can catch on things. So then either smooth the edge with a buffer block or use a fine file Here how scientist explains it 👉 FILING NAILS IN 1 DIRECTION? by Doug Schoon th-cam.com/video/LdpvdDJ9wJI/w-d-xo.html

I'm dealing with this right now after a traumatic salon visit in January. They're still growing out and I am hoping and wishing that my nail beds grow out to their original length. One of them was so thin that it broke before it could grow out.
Wow! Very much improved! Thank you! So satisfying 😃 Looking forward to the follow up 👍
Hi Anna,I really enjoy your channel and expertise. I have been learning so much. Thank You! 💖💅🏼
Thank you so much Tina! ❤️
Big, Big difference 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you.. mine are in rough condition
Hi there
I’ve just discovered your channel and it’s wonderful. I have now ordered myself a jojoba oil and a little pipette bottle to keep at work with my cera ve moisturiser. Thank you xx
Hi Joanne! Welcome :)) 🤗
Would love if you could do a video on “different healthy nails” I feel like many people may have healthy nails shut since they do not look like an “instagram” nail we overcompensate with over buffing etc and end up doing more harm.
Good idea Lexi! I will try!
thank you for your wonderful channel on natural nail care and damage care! any recommendations on fixing a damaged nail plate that keeps splitting vertically down the middle? once it reaches the free edge it keeps splitting. i only see people talk about horizontal splits from a nail breaking
This is my issue too! I’ve had this split for years and nothing has ever helped. I’ve never had gel or acrylic nails.
Could you please send me a picture of your nail that is splitting? I will make a video about it and I need examples.
Please send a good quality photo (smartphones are best) on white background, email in "actual size" (not small size!)

Wow...your attention to detail is impeccable! I so wish I could get a mani by you. Any recommendation for a salon in NYC?
I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what is meant by "dry manicure"? thx- love your informative videos for the nail-challenged-reallly helpful!

I love your videos! One question I have is that I can't really find kerasal in the Netherlands, do you have any more alternatives for it?
Hello :) You can find Kerasal in Netherlands on iHerb bit.ly/3XCWKvF
@@TheSalonLife So happy! Couldn't find it all the time and now ordered it. Thanks a lot for your help!
Any tips? Thank you. 👍

Hello, what do you think about protecting the nails with acrygel? It would prevent the nails from breaking as they are very soft. They will have time to grow under the acrygel while being protected. Thank you ☺️
Looks much better
If my nails are similar to these, should I wear any polish at all or avoid it? Are the warm oil soaks supposed to be done with bare nails?
Hi Anna, this is a genuine question, this client does not seem to have any open wounds. While I understand the concept of IBX, why would a soft gel overlay not be an option? I would imagine having something over the nail nail would protect it more. Thanks in advance.
I love challenging questions.
I know from experience that nothing will stick well to nails that are this thin and spongy on a client who is hard on her hands and doesn't baby her nails.
I order for anything to stick I would have to do 2 things.
Use a 100 or even 180 grit file.
or
Use a very strong chemical bonder.
I know many nail techs who used strongly bonding soft gels ending up with clients all over sudden coming back with horrible reactions like this
www.patreon.com/posts/overexposure-to-80195503
I can't even imagine having a client coming back with nails like this.
@@TheSalonLife thank you for your thoughtful reply
At night lanolin based cream or vaseline and bit of Kerasal around the nails

The clients nail place must be so sore 😔 this is why I don't go to bad nail techs where I live anymore I do my own natural nails with just nail polish I use a lot of oil and lotion and do oil treatments and a manicure on myself once a week or every two weeks. I'm trying to find a good base coat not a strengthener there just marketing etc I want one that helps the nails but not sure what to believe 🤔
Hey Anna - I wondered if you’ve ever put regular polish over dazzle dry base and top coat?
What should I use besides a e-file when doing my own manicures at home?
Hello, I never recommend using e-file by DIYers, it's an excellent tool if needed when used by a person who is trained using it. I have seen way too much damage using e-file.
I even have hard time using it with my non dominant hand without causing damage to the nail.
When the manicures are done on a regular bases (quick mani weekly) and basic skin care followed then there is not much to do

I agree, she has lovely nails! Thank you for your kind comment! ❤️

Just a question, why not remove the dead skin with cuticle remover?
Just another option. I pretty much always do dry manicures at the salon. With e-file I can be very detailed. For DIY I definitely don't recommend e-file but cuticle remover instead
Hi Anna, thank you for you videos, they helped me a lot ! What are your thoughts on glass nail files ?

Can IBX be purchased for home use? Or is it for professionals only?
It's professional only. Warm oil soaks are a great alternative for at home use
Do you have any thoughts about Dr Remedy and OPI base and top costs? Would they be ok to use?
Most of "nail strengtheners" are just marketing. There is nothing really special about them.
I looked at Dr. Remedy. The ingredients look like a standard nail polish with some tiny tiny tiny amount of oil at the very end of the ingredient list.
It's better to condition nails with pure oil (warm oil treatment) and then put the cheapest coat of polish for some shine if you like the look
PS. The marketing behind this brand is quite over the top. It's 10 free formula lists that the polish is free of things that are never in nail polish anyway like xylene for example (it's an ingredient found in some permanent markers and not polish I don't think) and parabens (there is nothing wrong with paragons anyway but it's a preservative used in water based formulas, not nail polish)
Also "animal testing" is not an ingredient. I mean I'm very glad they don't test on animals but come on.
What's next, gluten free (wait, that exists already, even though we don't eat polish), free of added sugar? free of enriched uranium? free of asbestos?
free of steroids?
Maybe these companies should start talking about things that are in the product instead of what isn't?
ingredient list:
Ethyl Acetate - solvent
Butyl Acetate - solvent
Nitrocellulose - film forming (can be damaging to the nail plate just like any other polish)
Acetyl Tributyl Citrate - plasticiser
Adipic Acid / Neopentyl Glycol /Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer - film forming
Hydroxybutyric Acid/Hydroxypentanoic Acid Copolymer filler that makes the polish look nice and maybe smooth the look of the coating?
Isopropyl Alcohol solvent
Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate - emulsifier (keeps the ingredients together)
Stearalkonium Hectorite (thickener)
Titanium Dioxide (white pigment)
Tocopheryl Acetate (preservative)
Iron Oxides (colourant)
Yellow 5 Lake (colourant)
Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) SeedOil (and)
Allium Sativum (Garlic) Bulb

Lavandula Angustifolia(Lavender) Extract Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein

@@TheSalonLife quick question about your comment on biotin in nail polish. You wrote "are you serious". I was under the impression that biting was good for nails. Can you elaborate on what you mean about biotin in nail polish formulas?
Hi Valerie, putting microscopic amount of biotin on your nails I have a feeling has the same effect as trying to gain weight by rubbing some oils on their nails.
Or trying to get drunk by rubbing some alcohol on their nails.
You have to eat/drink often excessive amounts of these in order for this to happen.
ps. Also you have to be careful with oral supplementation of biotin

Are hardners and strengthners te same?
Not really. But often the words are used interchangeable.
Oil is a best strengthener, all of the other ones don't really work, or work as well as just plain nail polish just by adding layers to the nails.
Here is a info about that: th-cam.com/video/io335eWf6R4/w-d-xo.html

As I can‘t get hold of DD here in Germany, should I use another base coat for protection of my damaged nails? I have one from LCN and Top Coat from CND or LCN. Any other suggestion? xxx
Hi Jule!
I would try these 2 from Catrice. They are nitrocellulose free and they don't last long and they tend to peel after 2-3 days but I find they don't yellow the nails.
I really don't think they have the magical qualities like they advertise but they might help the nails feel a bit less sensitive if the nails are very overfiled.

I have not found a video on this, though I’m sure there is - why you you never clip nails?
In one of her videos Anna said that she doesn't like to clip nails because if they are brittle they can crack\split, cause the clipping puts additional stress to a limited area of the nail.
Exactly Tumasia! And also with clipping if you are clipping already short nails it's easy to clip the skin around the nails, the eponychium which bleeds and hurts like heck.

You’re not supposed to file back and forth.
Hello D,
Filing in 1 direction seems to be an old wives tale. I've been filing like this for 25 years and my clients don't experience peeling. Peeling is from damaged surface and not how you file.
Also if you file with coarser file the finish will be rough and it can catch on things. So then either smooth the edge with a buffer block or use a fine file
Here how scientist explains it
