This is what computers looked like to me when I was very little and went to the computer lab. So many things inexplicably happening that it feels endless and dreamlike.
Exactly shit like this really makes me miss the 90’s man
this game definitely reminded me of programs i used to play with at grade school like kidpix but on crack lol
This Frutiger Aero style was especially prevalent back then
@@Revvnar its not frutiger aero but aight
@@Revvnar a tad too primitive to be frutiger aero. frutiger aero didn't get big until like 2003/4
finally, a good emulation of old technology thats not a fucking analog horror
I was thinking the same thing. I wish more people understood that they can make something with a fun nostalgic feeling like this and it doesn't have to rely on "what if it was DARK and there was EDGY LORE" to be fun and interesting. There doesn't always have to be a "twist" and things can stand on their own for other reasons rather than "THERE WAS A MURDER COVERUP" or "mascot does BAD THING" or something.
I feel like games like this could reach both sides of people who want to experience games like this and analog horror games that would be in a game like this by making a normal game and then a DLC that is the horror version of the game.
The part where it's literally the ruins of the Museum of Anything Goes is legitimately haunting
Some of the voice clips sound like the guy from that.
it's so wild because vinny is probably directly responsible for that part being in the game at all
With this game being an emulation of 90s computer software and internet plug-ins, it's almost thematic that it's incomplete. I remember some point and click games using absolutely insane jumps in logic to complete, so I've owned more of them than I've beaten. And, I remember a lot of websites from the 90s that tried to also be adventure games, with hidden links and stock animation assets. I remember so many of them being "under construction", never to be finished. It's incredibly on-brand for the time period that this is looking to emulate that the game itself is unfinished vaporware.
Not vaporware, as it does at least exist - just incomplete.
You know, the composer of Pizza Tower's music is making a game that also looks just like this, called Dust Riser. I'm so happy we are getting more games like this.
If you haven’t, please check out Kingsway!!! It’s like this but a roguelike and a lot of fun
vinny played this in his latest gettin weird with it!! it was so cool i hope he plays more
Is he also making a furry dating sim?
@@sirrealism7300based
My favorite part is how influence this entire game is by Museum of Anything Goes, and how this game itself became an influence to Hypnospace outlaw. It's just crazy to see the lineage there, especially since the Museum of Anything Goes is such an evocative game that has just stayed in my mind for years and years, that any reference to it is wonderful to me
8:13 "DINK HAS OVERLOADED THE SYSTEM"
Again! Just like back in that old AI stream
Having the computer drivers be represented by a literal taxi is amazing. Somebody needs to make a Linux distro or OS where things like windows, drivers, and so on are represented by actual, real life counterparts.
Daemons lol
I love the nostalgic vibe of this. I'm glad it doesn't seem to devolve into a horror game and understands the premise holds up on its own.
12:42 OTTO
no thats Jerma
OTTO
i love newer prerendered stuff like this. this and The Desolate Hope are such beautiful games. it's a shame it's not a more popular genre.
Beautiful, intricately crafted prerendered art, especially in games like these, just like really strike a chord in me. They just have so much charm.
@@robooz you can fit so much more emotion into a picture that is only a few megabytes rather than trying to capture it with a 3D model that has to be optimized and compressed
@@Emolga2225 So true, this is definitely it. Each frame is its own composition, it's own art piece.
Im so sad this game got abandoned and no one played it. I hope the 5 people who streamed it would motivate the devs to finish it
This game is really cool and definitely captures that 90s esq edutainment-core. I recommend playing this game if you want a good vibe.
Unironically should bring that kinda soft-vibe edutainment game kinda stuff back in schools.
stupid question, but where can I find it?

Even unfinished it's projects like these that repaint and encapsulate an era that one day could be dust. It's like the beauty and twisted wonder of the time blended through a fun house mirror.
Fun fact, Vinny: "FlamingOS" was mentioned in Hypnospace Outlaw, albeit in some of the more obscure pages.
People used it to make graphics and NetSettler pages back then. Who knows? Maybe whoever made this game intended it as an unofficial prequel.
There's a Boppo's calculator in the game too. weird.
production on this game started before hypnospace
I love the surreal nature of early CGI. The strange combination of dithered colors, recognizable but unnatural shapes, and sheer whimsy just feels warm and comfy to me. I've never had a DMT trip (sadly), but I imagine it would look a little like that.
Gonna miss your editing Pierdeer, you've been wonderful to have on the channel. Thank you for this last present
12:42 Literally Jerma's voice
IT IS
Man I love frogs
Man I love bees
Are you by chance bisexual
Fine Dining
I don’t.
no u dont
Honestly the bonkers type of art I want to make until my bones turn to dust, so many ideas aaaaa
God I love skung computer experience games. Truly an underrated genre. Awesome to learn about this and I'm excited for DreamSettler when it eventually comes out
Ah, a fellow Thorhighheels enjoyer in the wild. Good to see you, brother.
Frog Days is like the dog days of summer, except it's so humid that you don't just get swamp arse: you get swamp EVERYTHING.
Also, I do remember when computers were like this. I experienced Windows 98 and classic Mac OS before Windows XP became the standard.
Frogsauce is the 4th best season of Vinesauce, right behind Skibidisauce, Muppetsauce, and Tomodachisauce
really glad this became a main channel video, i remember the stream for this and the vibes of this game are immaculate, thank you pierdeer for putting this together :)
Everything in this game looks like those pictures in those drum and bass playlist videos. I really like it.
Jerma breakdancing in the trash was on point
This is so genuinely perfectly the exact type of weirdness as The Museum of Anything Goes. What a masterpiece.
This guy abandoned this incredible gem that perfectly encapsulates 90s media to make a _furry dating sim?_
Based.
Snoot game?
@@Polychi1998 fuck no
Unbased.
The draw of hairy poon is too strong for many
Hyper based
Y’know, the swole dinosaur sculpture with a pizzis and the drooling dinosaur tongue rooms make a lot more sense knowing what the dev is working on now. Good for them! Good for them.
Personally, I view it as a sign of mental illness and sexual obsession, but whatever.
joel needs to play this.... its like it was made just for him
Every time I think an edit is great due to a silly detail, it's Pierdeer. Thank you, gud dier.
And I hope you're in the dev's dating sim ;).
For a brief moment I forgot scoot was a duck and not a frog.
Good shit
This is unbelievably 90s.
My god, I really hope the dev comes back to complete this someday. It's a real hidden masterpiece.
I read the dev forum and i hope the dev sees your vid, this game itches my brain

You tease.
Making this and a furry dating sim, the creator is 2 for 2 on great games
oh my god this video is DENSE in references
i lost it at the fathermothercow
10:45 minecraft cave noise pitched up
this gets old program ui and renders and stuff so spot on i love how this looks so much
Even the way it looks to move forward is so accurate.
The fabled FlamingOS...
Between this and Surealidade I genuinely do hope we get more weird, abstract point and click games like these, it’s so fun just looking at them
That reminds me, I vaguely remembering Vinny referencing Frog Fractions somewhere, so curious how he reacted to playing it
Ive never watched a vinesauce stream on weed, but i bet its incredible.
I watched this live some months ago and i loved it
Vinny and Jerma are never playing a normal game i swear
jerma is basically another vinesauce channel at this point
This was such a great experience! I adore this game.
3:19 GoblinPls
I very recently watched someone play hypnospace and flamingOS was mentioned so this was a shock lol
FLAMINGOS WAS A THING IN HYPNOSPACE OUTLAW
♥
Thanks for all the laughs.
Rest well, gud der. ❤
Your signature crossfading away in the outro hits hard. Thanks for all your work buddy 🫡
Much love to you Pier

I hope this is real cuz thats hilarious holy shiit
why was this abandoned it looks super cool
im so extremely jealous of the guy who made this
if it was me i would be so proud

holy shit, it's spyker's friend
good timing
Your video was great
Don't click on the grave, you'll be sorry...
I love the soundtrack for this game
Man the editor of this video really likes Jerma huh?
Me too. God I miss him so much.
This is nostalgia overload.
This brought back deep, dark, & horrific memories from having a computer that was this painfully slow and frustrating to operate. Like a really cheap gateway computer. Every click just made everything worse like being trapped an inescapable rat maze made of sluggish Pentiums. The horror. The Horror.
Such monsters are to remain buried. Do not trust the nostalgia of this moment in time, for it lies through it's jagged, pixelated teeth.
does anyone know a good resource for learning to make similar retro 3d graphics like this?
more games need graphics that suck good
This is so surreal.
Wonderful bro
Vinny made frog sad around 4:30. 🐸
This is a very beautiful game, I hope the creator is doing alright
I love how this game never lets you sit and get stuck on something for too long
Ooo ooo ooo!
Debussi pls
amen
I want to learn how to do old 90's style rendering like this in Blender. If anyone know how, show me some tutorials!
Was anyone else surprised how well Vinny actually drew the characters?
frog shit makes frog sad. :(
dude no wonder I recognized flamingOS this dude made the Musi for hypnospace outlaw
The exploration bits remind me of I Spy
Finally, hypnospace 4
Contrary to popular belief, you can in fact download a car. However, it will not natively function on your computer's operating system, so you need to make yourself the driver.
Finally! A game with an old art style that doesn't suddenly turns into an horror game. (Not saying these are bad but its kinda generic after some time)
Did you mean does or doesn’t?
@@bobalinx8762 welp i got sick of those because they got predictable, but they are still good.
You said "that suddenly turns into", instead of "doesn't suddenly", I believe
I'd love to see Vin's reaction to Joel G's ENA series. That has the same 90s energy as this.
8:13 that dink is very mike esq
"YOU BROKE MY PAINT PROGRAM?!"
This is the beauty we lost in exchange for HiDPI crap.

I've downloaded the game from the Internet Archives and I realized that the autosave feature doesnt work even when I enter a new zone or get something in my inventory, the manual save gets stored as a 999 file, but appearently no way to load them. Anyone know what's happening?
Man, I remember the 90’s…
(Born in 2001)
I tried playing this for myself and absolutely love it, but I'm a bit annoyed because the save function doesn't seem to work at all no matter what I do.
Ummagumma
11:25 I swear to God that these guys always just sound like BDG and it always makes me wonder if it's actually him ffs.
So since Boppo was also a thing in HSOL, what'a the significance? Was it just a reference to this game or something else?
yes, HSOL also had flamingOS in it
Microsoft scrapped asistants
In the original forum thread the dev said he abandoned this because he just lost interest in making this kind of thing, which is understandable and still sad, but I'm really surprised it wasn't from some sudden tragedy or life event. Normally if a creator gets to 99% they'll finish it even if they lose interest, super weird especially given the level of polish this has.
i believe it's because he lost the motivation to finish it because he figured that nobody would really care about it once it was finished, which is really ironic considering that we're all talking about it right now
@@feIon Yeah that def seems to be the problem, but others pointed out afterward that he was only really talking about it on an _indie game developers' forum._ I think if the project had more exposure in active development it would've been really popular, even in 2018
does anyone know the furry dating sim the dev mentioned? seeing this talent be put towards something like that must be interesting
It's meant to be called Friends of a Feather, but doesn't seem to have been mentioned on the internet since 2018
whats the music that plays when he draws yoshi at 6:52 ? its so familiar but I can’t place it.
Pretty sure that is a track from Mario Paint.
Man, the fact that the game is only 99% made me wonder how the ending would be like
Also, i may have a hunch on who the author of the game is the moment i saw the anthro dinosaur statue and the mouth of...camels? And when he said it was going to creat a furry dating-sim...but i don't want to get wrong
there actually is an ending, vinny was mistaken
okay but do it honk?
opila bowd
14:59-15:08 Why were the tongues so shiny and drooly? A room with camel mouths open and closed would have been equally effective at being weird right?
