Just an important distinction, the National Language spoken by Filipinos is Wikang Filipino or just Filipino which is comprised of approximately 80% Tagalog vocabulary where Tagalog is just one of the many regional languages in the Philippines. The remaining 20% of Filipino vocabulary comes from Spanish, Chinese and the other regional languages including words in common with Malay, Indonesian or even Sanskrit words from India. Basically the main difference between Filipino language and Tagalog regional language is differences in grammatical construction of sentences, as well as particular Tagalog vocabulary that are used specifically only by pure Tagalog speakers but not used in Filipino. For example the term for Ant in Filipino is Langgam while in Tagalog it's Guyam. Another common expression in pure Tagalog is "Pumarini ka" which means "Come here" but in Filipino it's "Pumunta ka dito." Fyi, Kell!😉 Technically what you are learning is Filipino (the national language) rather than Tagalog (the language of Southern Tagalog region) but yes you are also being taught Tag-lish...a colloquial pigin version of Tagalog and English. Sadly the distinction between Tagalog and Filipino is lost on most Filipinos unless they were paying attention in their Filipino Language classes in the University of the Philippines like I did.
You already know how to speak tagalog. Just add "na" to any english sentence: "I'm going to bed na", "I will make my decision na", "Let's go eat na", "I will give this to you na".

Short vowel sounds in English are the same in Tagalog, as in "a" for your cat; "e" for your egg, "i" for your indigo; "o" for your rot; and "u" for your put. When two vowels in Tagalog are spelled together, you pronounce them as a separate syllable, like tao (person) as in ta-o. I hope I made sense :-P

hmm i think there is only one "tapos" - to finish. the other tapos (and then) is just shortened, but it is "pagkatapos" which literally mean, after (something) is done/finished.
Came from the Taal video lol... good job. I think you'll learn Tagalog better classically, like similar to how you'd learn it in school. You'd be surprised how similar it is to English. Tagalog is a lot simpler than English and way fewer rules. Once you understand these rules and syntax, everything will just be easier. It's no different to learning a musical instrument, it's better to learn how to play it than to memorize just one piece.

hmm i think there is only one "tapos" - to finish. the other tapos (and then) is just shortened, but it is "pagkatapos" which literally mean, after (something) is done/finished.

Came from the Taal video lol... good job. I think you'll learn Tagalog better classically, like similar to how you'd learn it in school. You'd be surprised how similar it is to English. Tagalog is a lot simpler than English and way fewer rules. Once you understand these rules and syntax, everything will just be easier. It's no different to learning a musical instrument, it's better to learn how to play it than to memorize just one piece.
