Guy-manuel was kind of done with the project, he was always very shy and hated publicity. Thomas wanted to keep making music, and so they split up. Thomas still turns up randomly in French nightclubs to DJ, the man's a menace on the decks.

@@gelatinous6915 i know this was true as far back as 2012, but from what i recall, he stopped the club gigs and going to clubs altogether because of his tinnitus that got worse at one point? Now his latest work is in orchestra and possibly film scoring.
I also remember reading that Guy-Man was the one who would frequent clubs most recently. Guy wanted to do more production work for popular rappers, as Daft Punk, but Thomas was completely turned off by the idea. Creative differences there. It was Todd Edwards who mentioned it. He said that's what he heard from Thomas via text messaging. That, coupled by the fact that they felt they had already accomplished so much, was what lead to their decision to finally call it quits

@@rinzler4841 he says thomas because out of the two, thomas was known to do more of the rare solo gigs in clubs/venues. Guy, from what's been documented as far as we know, never really did solo gigs. Except for maybe a few stuff with other DJs in the Crydamoure days, but if so, there's no audio/video of any of it in existence

Tbh, I think Joel is kinda wrong on this one, I don’t think either Thomas or guy will stop making music, they’ll just not release shit and only make music as like a genuine hobby. They’re definitely tired of the whole robot persona and everything. And who knows they might just get back together later on in their future, which I highly doubt. If they ever return it will be then independently. At the end of the day the duo are dead as daft punk, if they return it will most likely be with their actual names

I think it’s the lack of respect that bothers me with Joel’s comments when regarding Daft Punk. I’m sure he respects them but he clearly needs to be more humble he comes across as a hypocrite when he makes silly comments whether they are meant to be taken as a joke or not. It seems like he’s making bold statements to keep himself in drama feeds to stay relevant. Hate to say it but having a mentality like that will never get him the success or respect he wants.

I swear to god, at this point he's done almost everything he said to despise about other people (i.e. remember when he said that he wouldn't sell out to Spotify?).
