BTW, there is one thing that I don't think you get enough recognition for and is very evident in this video: Your deep knowledge of this entire bourbon/rye industry. When I watch most other whiskeytubers, I occasionally find myself spotting things they got wrong, things they didn't know, or details they missed. I don't have those thoughts with your videos. You have a really wide knowledge of bottles, releases, and distilleries, not to mention a really good memory. Little details, such as informing us that some OF SBBS bottles can be a hot mess and knowing the exact proof of several previous Woodford releases, shows how in tune you are to the bourbon community and how much research you do. Just know that it is appreciated as much as the number of comparisons you always bring us. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers!
About the A123 you mentioned; didn't start collecting bourbon til early 2024, so in Aug/Sept it was clear ECBP was generally going to maintain the new lower quality releases. So when I found 5 bottles of A123 on the shelf at the same store, got them all (after trying the 1st one). Really like B524 also, though I'm sure there are many 2020 & older batches that are better.
@motohead077 I tried one early in 2023 and immediately bought 2 more. I'm on my last bottle.😢 I haven't been interested in any other batch (other than C923) based on the consensus reviews that they are "meh" to "good." I have a decent collection, so anything above $70 better be very good to great. Cheers.
@@The_Profezor Yes, I'm pretty much the same. If were gonna splurge, would rather pay for $175-200 for C923 or pre 2017 ECBP over this WR BP. Got a Russell's SiB Pick for $90 recently & while I think it should be lower, it was very good even considered A123 at $70-76. The Russell's picks are MUCH more difficult for me to find, so only got 1 so far.
Haha yeah that A123 was killer my favorite besides C923. And thanks I try to retain info I know haha. I do notice that too when some others don’t seem to know the basic facts always a little irritating
Went on a tour at woodford in December. The tour guide confirmed that the batch proof is indeed blended with old forester and the age of the barrels are around 7-9 years old.
Got a few JD BP shelfers from same rick as that, 2-47 at 129.5P bottled 4-2-24. Got them at a grocery store for $47.19 & (2) at $43.19 with a coupon for $8 off 2 bottles. That barrel was hot until it opened up after a month or two. With prices like that & ECBP A123, B524 availalable for less than half with double digit age & full bottle (750mL), would never spend even 100 on the WR batch proof (besides gift). Even for us that hate money, would get more enjoyment using that $$ to buy ammo & shoot all the empty bottles that are way overpriced, hahah.
I ended up getting two bottles of the 2024 release for $70 a piece during black friday. I'm really hoping they do the same thing for the 2025 release, too!

I’m perfectly content with my SiB old Foresters and SiB JDs. Can basically get 1 of each for the price of one of the batch proofs and 800 ml more. 700 ml is just to rub the consumers face in it IMO.

I just picked up the Hardins Creek 211 Month (found for $200) and Bulleit 12 Year ($65 in Virginia) because of you! The Bulleit is ok but a bit too low proof for me but the Hardins is fantastic! Also found an 10 year Belle Meade but didn't get it because I don't think that is the single barrel and not a 12+ year one.
Haha there you go! The bulleit 12 is a nice warm up but yeah it doesn’t hold up to barrel proof options around the same age if that make sense give it some air mine really transformed with some. But yeah Hardins Creek unstoppable
GOOD LORD!!! Woodford BP is just too dang expensive! I see this at Costco in NoCal $109 and I still pass😂 It's funny, people out here be selling their collections just so they can pay their bills! I saw a Woodford BP 124.7 for $115 on Craigslist! Actually I see the Stagg Jr's batches 23A and newer for $120 pretty often. Cali sucks! Can't wait to retire and move to the Carolinas or Georgia! At least I can afford to live comfortable there😂
