- In this video, Sticks gives us his thoughts on dealing with the engine fueling stumbles on his 2022 Aprilia Tuareg 660. Excellent content you brought my friend. I'm planning going for the 2023. So they were supposed to take care of that matter. Now that I know, will check on this info. Great explanation of the issue. I just ordered a new 22 that my dealer had on the floor and will only pick it up in the spring as I’m in Canada so the riding season is almost over but I have a friend who has this issue on his 22 model and was told by the dealer there is no fix available in Canada. I’m hoping it will come soon and hope my bike will be ok.
aftermarket tunes will make it run cooler & more reliable as the factory tune is a Lean euro5 map, it's just making run the way it was designed before they restricted it to meet emissions.
Can't disagree with you there, that's why I've tuned many vehicles in the past, for reliability and more power. However I'm sure they richened the new factory tune in some way to make it run how it does now. I'd be curious to see the figures once people start getting this updated tune on a dyno.
Very helpful! I will upgrade the ECU om my new Tuareg 660 when I do the first maintenance after 1000k. Do you stand up when going off-road, and if so - have you adjusted your clutch and brake lever downwards. How did you do the adjustment?

@@CauliflowerEars1 after over 3k miles and lots of dirt and mud. No staining here. Although I am a professional detailer, so I do keep my bike clean. If you leave things like mud on any surface for a few days it will start etching it no matter the color.
My Tuareg struggles with this issue. Hearing this update was out I took my bike to my dealer in the UK. Only to be told their system did not show an update required. It seems there is a PADs system used by some dealers who do not have this update from Aprilia. Very frustrated as the bike is great apart from this 'cough' issue.

I sold it after 3,500 miles of completely trouble free riding, on and off road. I do miss it quite a bit. Another one may be in my future at some point.

I asked on the FB group but didn't get much response. So I'll toss it out too you..With 3k miles on your 660 have you had to adjust\check the spokes? If you did, how does the job compare to doing it with traditional spokes?
Perfect! As far as the spokes, I have regularly checked the tension, and a little after 2K mi I did have to snug up 2 or 3 spokes on the front. Maybe I'll make a video on this if we get another warmish day here in New England soon. The spokes are laced the opposite way of lets say a mountain bike, so the spoke nipples are in the hub. The access to the hub is very tight and tricky where you need to insert an allen key into spoke nipple while you hold the actual spoke with a spoke wrench. The ABS tone rings can get in the way. However, once you figure out the right angles and right length allen key to use it's not too bad.
@@SticksTricks .... I have a Husky TE250 with traditional spokes. I saw the reversed spokes on the Tuareg and it's been on my mind since.
TuneECU makes a program for Android phones that allows me to reset the wrench light on my Triumph 900 RP. They also cover Aprilla models.. it's a great app for pulling trouble codes etc. You do need to buy an additional OBD2 dongle as an interface but it works for cars and motos .

I have what sounds like a less intense version of what some of you had pre update. I have a 23, confirmed via pads I have the fuel map P80KCB02. We just did a relearn of everything. I hadn't had a real "stumble" before but i had one random one yesterday leaving the dealership. This light hunting feeling drives me mad now that im aware of it, mostly in long turns/backroads, finding my line holding throttle where i want it and just feeling the bike lightly this like on/off feeling, not completely OFF power. Any of you who had the more intense version of the fueling issue, got the update, feel its resolved, do you definitely not feel anything like this? I guess I was thinking while they made an update to the map that really helped maybe it isn't 100% resolved. And for those of you who had it much worse this less wonky stuff im feeling is just not noticable unless you're looking for it.
Hey Sticks, thanks for the video. Shame on Aprillia for not covering a known issue like that under warranty! I'm. thinking of getting an Aprillia. It's a toss up between that and an Tenere. I like the idea of getting the better performing bike, but I worry about reliability and getting parts. How has your bike been over time? If I road up to Alaska, would I worry about getting stranded. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I would trust the Aprilia. The new ones are very sorted out. I sold my Tuareg after 3,500 miles of completely trouble free riding, on and off road. The intake noise and performance is amazing, I miss mine every day.

Glad I could help! They are the Barkbuster aluminum universal kit, with VPS plastic guards. The fitment is ok, but not the greatest, and I tried multiple different ways to mount them. I actually have their Tuareg specific kit on order now that they announced it, so as soon as that is available and ships, a video will definitely be coming on that!

Unfortunately, I sold the Aprilia. But I put around 3,500 miles on it, and never had any oil or coolant leaks. The water pump stayed bone dry.
What state are you in? Which dealer?
Does it cost $75 to have just the wrench turned off? Will the bike run good with low octane fuel? I can run both low and high octane with my KTM and BMW as the computer makes an adjustment.
My local dealer charges a half hour of shop time to reset the service light, but I have heard of other dealers not charging anything. So that just depends on your local dealer. As far as fuel octane, I only run 93 in mine, but I have heard of people online running lower grades of fuel without issue. Hope this helped!
Why is that “fix” or “fixes” not covered under warranty? If the bike isn’t running right and the dealer knows about it and the bike is still under warranty, then you shouldn’t have to pay in my opinion.
That's definitely something to work out with your local dealer. I was going in to pay their flat fee to reset the service wrench light, and while they were connected they did the updates at no extra charge. I said in the video most dealers will charge a half hour of shop time, if you are only in for that reason, but I'm sure most would do the updates for free if you are paying for other services at the same time. Very good point though!
Do you have trouble finding neutral on your Aprilia? Because I do it’s a pain in the ass. Lol.
Not at all! Check your clutch cable adjustment!

What were your reasons for choosing the Tuareg over something like a T700?
Availability was a big factor, I was never able to get my hands on a T7 to try or even look at. My local Aprilia dealer happened to have 3 Tuaregs at the time I was ready to buy, and while I was in the purchase process, the other two they had, sold. As we all know it's hard to find any new products that are popular these days. I had to trust in online reviews and forums since there was no demo model to test ride, but once I signed the papers and rode the Tuareg home, I was blown away! It feels like a super moto on the street, and a big dirt bike off. The suspension and electronics are great, especially the cruise control. Like I said, I have not ridden a T7 so I can't say if I feel that the Tuareg has a lower center of gravity and better suspension, but it does everything I need it for exceptionally. The reliability is a factor to consider, however the Aprilia doesn't scare me and I'm not worried. It's been solid and the build quality is impressive.

Thanks for the kind words! You can cruise comfortably all day at highway speeds, especially with cruise control. However to some, the seat may not be up to the task, so that really depends on the rider. The bike itself can handle it no problem and has plenty of power for highway speeds. I have not had a pillion ride with me (yet) so I can't speak there.
