I'm so happy I've just found a non alloy bash plate for my new Tuareg. My only suggestion is could you mark in some way the plate ( or colour code the bolts or cap screws) to identify what fasteners have to be undone to remove the bashplate for an oil change? It seems there are a lot that don't need to be undone. I can see my service guy undoing them all as he won't know how it is constructed and attached.
Attaching the bottom block, shown at 1:45 into the video requires Zen like patience. It does fit great when it's on and I understand why you made it that way. It makes sense. But I think it would have been nearly impossible for me without a motorcycle lift. You did a great job of making things work despite some oddities of the Tuareg design.
I am installing this as we speak and with a Givi crashbar. There are definitely some issue with the Givi bar that is going to need some modifications. I'll share those in the comments here in a day or two. It will require removing a small amount of material on the right side to make a small half-moon shape for the protruding part of the Givi bars. The left side will require probably cutting part of the Givi bars where they attach to the rear set with an angle bracket. That angle bracket completely obstructs the left side bolt to the block that goes underneath the linkage (1.45 min into the video). That's why I'll need to manufacture another metal bracket or simply cut off part of the crash bar. That is no fault of AXP's of course. That's just how it goes sometimes 🙂

Very nice job, looks like a very thought out product. Surprisingly, it's kind of heavy, but we can't have everything I suppose. I have two questions: - how much of ground clearance is lost when this skidplate is installed in comparison to the OEM one? - are you 100% sure that your skidplate is NOT compatible with some of the other crash bars, such as GIVI? I assume you did not have these bars to test it out yourself, you just looked at the pictures? From the pictures and the video I think that it may be compatible with these after all.

Consider our skid plate is about 15mm far from the pipe and then, add 8mm of thickness if you want to measure on your :) About crash bars, we checked by pictures yes, and it's possible that other models are compatible but we will check and add to the list step by step. I love the product but would appreciate more clear written instructions. It’s nearly impossible to figure out which bolt goes where without lots of trial and error. Please take a note from, for example, SW Motech which have extremely detailed and clear instructions. Also, more information on compatibility and workarounds. For example, I have a Givi crash bar which required some minor removal of material on the plate. Not a big deal but I’m wouldn’t have known unless I had found another video. The product is fantastic and by far the best bash plate on the market. I probably won’t buy another adv or dual sport bike again without first checking if there is an AXP plate that fits.

@@axpracing One recommendation, if I may suggest, would be color pictures or larger pics with higher resolution. I wouldn't mind paying more for more clear pictures. Or, better yet, just provide a link to a very detailed PDF that also links to a Q&A forum where anyone can chime in with experiences.

I received the skid plate for my Tuareg 660 today. The instructions show to affix a heat shield sticker on the inside of the skid plate near the catalytic converter, but there is no heat shield sticker provided. Is the heart shield sticker not required for the Tuareg 660, or was the sticker overlooked during packing?

Trying to fit this with my SW MOTECH CRASH BARS that it says are compatible but can’t see how this is going to work? The steel AXP bracket is flush fitting. How will that mount to the same mounting point as the SW Motech crash bars with the perfectly machined spacer that SW Motech supply with the bars that fits into the recess engine mounting point?? You works basically have to supply 2 correct sized spacers that fit 1 behind the bracket and 1 correctly sized spacer in front of the steel bracket to allow the bracket to fit correctly. When the skid plate was launched we faced some issues with the front mudguard but it has been corrected one year ago and there isn’t any problem now, so you can use it safely 😉

Thanks for your question! We faced some issues with the previous model being stuck in the front fender. So we redesigned the upfront part of the skid plate to avoid any problem with it 😊

I doubt that it will fit without modification. The crash bar sits inside the frame. Your mounting plate on the right side of the bike covers that hole. Only the screws will go through your plate. I will email you some pictures to show the problem. Maybe it is possible to change the mounting plate?!
You must have the previous version of our skid plate developed before July 2023 because we’ve been informed about this issue and redesigned our skid plate to avoid this problem with the mudguard. Customers have been informed about this update through our social media channels more than one year ago and we replaced a certain number of skid plates. We did not hear from you about this issue and would have been glad to replace your skid plate if you had asked us. On the first units sold, the plastic tended to melt a bit, but we added a heat pad to avoid this problem and there isn’t any issue anymore 😉

No, the skid plate was designed to offer a maximum of protection so it needs to be removed for the oil filter change.

Would this skid plate be strong enough to jack the bike up using a bike lift under it?
We did not test it but regarding the fixation system we've done, it should hold on :)
I jack mine up a lot and no issues. There are the 2 poly bars that mount straight to the case so I think that helps.

Poor and very dangerous design. Bottom edge of mudguard hits top edge of skid plate resulting in locking up steering direction!!!
