Hey, so glad You enjoyed Your visit. I do have a small suggestion for Your sister, tell her to go and see the Malbork Castle, it's more or less 65 km (40mil) from Gdansk, going south. its allmost 100% preserved castle, google it if needed. One of the sights worth seeing, but not much known by visitors and tourist. I'm form Poland, been there several times... eveytime its really breathtaking.
I was there earlier this year with my adult daughter. We had a great time walking everywhere and then thawing out in a cafe during the day and eating some astonishingly cheap meals at restaurants in the evening. If you are still there, make sure you visit the square with the empty chairs. Very moving. And we had a very long walk out off town to climb the Koscuiszko mound. The views from the top were fabulous. And its man made! Amazing. Great video guys. Thanks very much.
Hi Ian! Sounds like you and your daughter had a wonderful time. Our Airbnb was actually very close to the square with the empty chairs and we also found it very moving. We also walked to Schindler's Factory one night just to see it from the outside. We saw the mound from Wawel Hill and it looked very strange and intriguing. And I agree about the food - absolutely wonderful meals to be had for amazing value.
In Wawel, the castle's courtyard is the most beautiful. It was a must see. It was necessary to see a picture of Leonardo da Vinci "Lady with an Ermine" at the National Museum. The picture was shown in several places around the world. There have always been huge crowds. Not everyone could see him. Almost nobody knows that this painting hangs peacefully in Krakow. There are no crowds at the National Museum. It's very funny.
I've been to Krakow as well. It's magical! For those who plan on visiting, I think it's better to arrive at night and walk into the square under the lights. It's a breathtaking way to start your visit.
It's always so refreshing to see Poland through a tourist's eyes. For me the historical buildings are just there, sitting casually, just a regular part of my life. But when I watch a video like yours, it makes me appreciate them more. :)

@@EileenAldis not many people from the West are aware of this, but Hitler had two plans for the occupied territories. Nazi Attack Prior to the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Hitler was well aware of the historic altarpiece and unjustly felt that it was his because Veit Stoss was a German sculptor. Before the invasion of Poland, the altarpiece was taken apart and hid in various locations. However, it was still discovered by the Nazis and stolen. A German unit called the Sonderkommando Paulsen located the crates containing the altarpiece and had the statues and panels shipped to Berlin. It was kept at Nuremberg Castle. In 1941, during the German occupation, the dismantled altarpiece was shipped to the Third Reich on the order of Hans Frank - the Governor-General of that part of occupied Poland It was stolen by Germans !
@@morganmorgan2213 You have delusions. A lot of Polish private and state property, works of art stolen by the Germans, are still in German warehouses or private apartments. In addition, Germany's current policy towards Poland is not friendly at all. The past is not over yet. Sad but true.

this head sculpture was made by Mitoraj. He is well known in Poland i think he is the greatest modern sculptor from Poland. His sculptues are in very famous places all round the world like japan, usa, germany or even in ancient pompeii among ancient ruins. Unfortunatly he died few years ago his name is Igor Mitoraj
The trumpet hymn from St Mary. Is traditional as well. According to a popular 20th-century legend, during a Mongol invasion of Poland (the invasion usually cited is that of 1241), Mongol troops led by General Subutai approached Kraków. A sentry on a tower of St Mary's Church sounded the alarm by playing the Hejnał, and the city gates were closed before the Tatars could ambush the city. The trumpeter, however, was shot in the throat and did not complete the anthem, and this is the legendary reason as to why performances end abruptly before completion.
Plus a legend about two brothers building this church. One was jelaous that the tower built by the other brother grows faster and is going to be higher. So out of envy he killed the more skilled brother. The knife he used for the murder is still hanging in Sukiennice;) aAnd did you see huge bones hanging above tur entrance to the Wawel Cathedral? People take really good care of the chains they are hanging on: tle legend has it, they are the dragon bones and whenn chains breake and the bones hit the ground, there wll be the end of the world.
Did you find the Canadian restaurant that's just down the street from the Starbucks? My wife and daughter were a little homesick so they had to stop in for some poutine!
You are so positive, guys! I love watching your vlogs - the one about Poland teach me to appreciate my own country more. I hope you reached Koscuiszko mound and Kazimierz (Jewish) district in Krakow. :) (update: I've just seen your other clip - yup, you have seen Kazimierz) ;)

as a pole im proud of my old capitol Kraków, unfortunatelly warsaw is gone, destroyed by germans it will never be the same as it was... Beautifull in the past, just a chaotic mess today
1:57 This altar was stolen by the Germans during World War II, as well as many other valuable works of art. Not everything returned to Poland. Many of these beautiful things (paintings, sculptures) are probably still in museum warehouses in Germany and in the homes of the Germans (in Germany). When asked by a journalist from Poland whether Germany will take action to return looted Polish works of art from Germany to Poland, the German lawyer Claudia von Selle (chairwoman of the art law committee of the International Association of Lawyers in Paris) replied that the German authorities (ministry, Bundestag - German Federal Parliament) did not they can do it because it will cause indignation and protests by the Germans. One of the valuable works of art that returned to Poland after the plunder of the Germans is the painting of Leonardo da Vinci - Dama z gronostajem (Lady with an Ermine). According to art historians, the young girl in the picture is Cecilia Gallerani - an Italian poet (well known to Italy - I asked Italian colleagues from Germany about her). The picture can be viewed in Krakow. At least 0.5 million Polish works of art looted by Germans are in circulation.
I have one question; Have you ever felt threatened or dangerous when you travelling and visiting Poland? How do you see it in comparison to other countries?
Great! :-) If you are still in Poland, you must visit small towns and villages.... I recommend the castle in the village of Moszna. You will faint from the amazement.
I understand Wroclaw has a better Christmas Market. We have done Prague, Dresden, Salzburg, Munich, Nuremberg, the Alsace region, Koln, Kolbenz, Rothenburg Würzburg. Then a few smaller ones. Wouldn’t return to Rothenburg and Nuremberg. Loved Dresden and Koln.
We made a video at the Christmas market in Wroclaw! And many others across Europe. Sounds like you love the markets as much as we do. Here are the videos: bit.ly/christmasmarketplaylist :)
The Altar wasnt hidden in Nuremberg during the WW ii. It was stolen to Nuremberg. The most precious pieces of art were hidden among others in Canada. When the Second World War broke out in 1939, the tapestries stored at Wawel Castle were transported through Romania, France and England to Canada[21][23] to be finally returned, after 15 years of negotiations, to the People's Republic of Poland in the 1960s.[24][25] In 1961, when the royal collection was coming back from a long journey it was greeted by the Sigismund Bell and the Kraków inhabitants. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagiellonian_tapestries

Looked up your restaurant pick here in Krakow and decided to visit the Piano Bar Rouge. I know it was 4 years ago but we thought it was well worth the money. Had a very good meal and were treated by good music and song. Thought you would like to know. Fifth visit and stayed 9 days.
Thanks so much for sharing that! I'm delighted to hear it and have an update after some years have passed too. Fifth visit...! Wow. We love Poland as well and have made a lot of videos there (they're here: bit.ly/PolandPlaylist). Do you also travel around Poland or prefer to visit Krakow?
@@EileenAldis Traveled to Gdańsk two summers ago and down to Warsaw. Been to Warsaw a few times but would say Krakow is our favorite. We’re here two months and in Salzburg right heading to Prague. Then on to Germany for a month’s stay and short travels around Wurzburg. We wish we were young again (77) but will keep going until the old legs give up😂😂. Keep up your dreams life moves quickly. Stay happy 😁😁
@@michaelworosz7940 Wow, what an incredible adventure you're having. Sounds absolutely wonderful. We love Christmas markets and would love to see the one in Krakow someday. Wishing you a safe and happy journey!
Oh my... It's soo relaxing to watch You walking through Poland. Many of Polish people says that Poland is boring or bad place to live. They don't know what they have. I used to think like that, a half of my life ago. But know I still never was in many places worth to visit in Poland. Even if I was in Kraków around a 10 times I still want to live there some day for a couple of years, just to absorb it's atmsphere. But without a smog :)
Wish You a best impressions through Yours trips,
Greetings from Łódź :)
Hello to you in Łódź! So glad you enjoyed the little tour around Krakow :) It's such a beautiful place with so much history. We feel lucky for such a perfect first day to explore the Old Town.
Very impressive. Just enjoy 😊 your stay in my hometown. Explore , have some delicious food & drinks 🥤 🍷 🍸. If l may suggest something , go to Wieliczka Salt Mine. Worth of seeing. Technically suburbs of Kraków.👍🇵🇱
I'm moving there soon:) Enjoy your time there:D
Cool! Good luck with the move :)
@@EileenAldis thanks!
It made us want to travel there.
You guys are bad influencers 😁😄
Keep making great videos.
this head sculpture was made by Mitoraj.
We heard this story! Very interesting how it’s been carried forward.
Did you visit Wieliczka Salt Mine next to Kraków?
Yes! It’s our next video :)
Did you find the Canadian restaurant that's just down the street from the Starbucks? My wife and daughter were a little homesick so they had to stop in for some poutine!
Love love your video
Thanks so much! 💕
You're just great.
dude youre literally so cute and its so nice listening to you talk
The Jagielonski University is one of the best Universities in Poland and it's also known as Polish Hogwart.
I admire your fascination not only with the quality of Polish food but also and above all with our history.
Do you think Poland can be liked?
first of all the w is pronounced as a v. ive been there twice 05 and o7 and in the 2 years the city changed dramatically, it now has a world class shopping centre.

Cool! Where did you go in Poland?
as a pole im proud of my old capitol Kraków, unfortunatelly warsaw is gone, destroyed by germans it will never be the same as it was... Beautifull in the past, just a chaotic mess today
I love this city all of my heart and someday I'm gonna live there, for no matter what. P.S. You are cute couple!
Good
12:51 I immediately thought of smog, which is quite a problem in Kraków, unfortunately :(
Polen är bäst💘
💖
No surprise that the restaurant is underground. Krakow has over 200 bars that are underground.
Polska!
I have one question;
Have you ever felt threatened or dangerous when you travelling and visiting Poland? How do you see it in comparison to other countries?
No, I never felt threatened or in danger travelling in Poland. Everywhere we went felt quite safe.
Great! :-) If you are still in Poland, you must visit small towns and villages.... I recommend the castle in the village of Moszna. You will faint from the amazement.
@@EileenAldis I have visited Poland 3 times since my son moved there in 2015, and I have always felt safe, even when I was alone.
Na Zdrowie! wonderful couple. Hope you will taste more Polish vodka :):):)
If you love Kraków, you should go to Prague Czech Republic.
I live in Kraków but was once in Praha, years ago, still remember its beauty :)
Cheers and welcome to Poland...much more to offer than pain of the 2nd WW! Right?
Love you gays!, so much!
We love you! And appreciate all your comments ❤️
