My lip piercing which is the same pricing as a tongue piercing was 60 $ & as far as my lip piercing goes it didn’t hurt at all. Like it might as well of been just “pressure” if you even wanna say that like it feels like something’s going on but it’s not a painful thing. But it does get irritated when you play with it and moving it back and forth but normally it’s not a problem. I don’t think it hurts my teeth - The post is small and it doesn’t really stick out super far but maybe it’s just me that it didn’t bother idk I love it but I definitely want my tongue pierced idk though I don’t want it to move around kinda how my lip can do. I guess most people call it migrating from the original piercing spot or making the piercing hole bigger? I just got mine done, and it didn't hurt at ALL. The healing process was a pain bcuz of the swelling, but it doesnt hurt. It took me 3 days to be able to eat solid foods again.

Over here it cost me N$350 so basically +- $35 to get my piercing done (including the first (dreadfully long) jewellery piece). My nose piercing was N$100 so $10. It's so cool, to me, how when an American makes something sound so inexpensive...it really isn't "cheap" to us. Lol
I agree with so much of this video. ^_^ I was kind of the opposite in a way how you did it on impulse, I'd wanted one for pretty much my whole life but I only finally did it last year after I graduated from college and I was so happy I got it done. It did intensify my lisp though, but I have a bad lisp because I have tons of saliva because of my unfortunate mouth shape (big teeth, tiny mouth, pronounced overbite, I can't swallow all of my spit unless my head's tilted all the way back). It took me a few weeks after getting it done to even get to where I wasn't constantly drooling or gurgling or making a mess of myself when I ate. I'm so glad I stuck with it. The "sex" one annoys me too, mostly because I'm actually a virgin who's never been kissed (I'll be 24 next month) and not entirely by choice either. Every guy I've asked out has said no and none have asked me out. I wonder if it's because I look like a cross between Olive Oyl and those old Betty Spaghetti dolls, because of my awful nasally voice, or if there's something wrong with my personality. What’s super weird is my tongue has barely swelled. Very minimal discomfort. I have been popping ibuprofen every 4-6 hours to prevent pain and swelling so maybe that’s why lol but so far my healing process has been a dream. I did have some pain during the piercing maybe a 6/10 for me. Wasn’t expecting that but it actually hurt more than my (first) nipple piercing! I guess I have a sensitive tongue but it’s so funny how different everyone is.
my mouth is super tiny and the piercing was angled so it eroded the gum where it sat and I had to take it out after about a year. I miss it so bad ;-; I still wonder if I could get it re-pierced so it sits better :c it was definitely my favorite piercing. My tongue is too big for my mouth so for me it does actually pose an issue when it comes to gums/teeth. That's not really a myth, it's just a case-by-case thing.
I had the same thing happen to me. Ive had mine for 2 years and after a year and a few months it started creating problems with my bottom gums. I can still wear my ring just not all the time.
I only had a lisp for an hour but I healed up in a few days. But I already have scar tissue in my tongue. The person who pierced my tongue ask why I didn't bleed or salivate. I had to explain I bit the tip of my tongue off. But it makes me gleek a lot, like i can now do it demanding. This is probably only a thing cuz my tongue like i said doesnt have the tip anymore, which makes it smaller.

I got my piercing on the 23rd this may and getting it pierced hurt my piercer freehanded it and pulled my tongue really hard. On a scale of 1 to 10 pain scale it's a 4. It doesnt hurt but it's really inconvenient. Hurts to talk and eat like a 7. I cant curl my tongue. Right now my tongue has a little bruise underneath and I'm on day 3. Which is supposedly the max swelling.
I've had mine done for 11 years now, and I would be completely lost without it. I had it done with my sister because she had tried it twice and took it out then she wanted it done a third time but this time I had it done with her so she would keep hers in and it worked we both still have it, it's a part of me now, most the time I forget it's there. The piercing itself wasn't painful, the healing process wasn't as plain sailing we got through a lot of ice cream and soup. It was the best £30 that my sister ever spent as she paid for mine to make me go with her. So all good 11 years on. 😊
If you have a lisp for awhile after getting the piercing it can become permanent because it's how you talk now, like if you live somewhere for awhile you can pick up the accent. The pain level depends on the person, it can be really painful or you can just feel a pinch. It can chip your teeth from talking or eating.

Chrissie Beaven both my parents weren't happy I got it, I got it like a month after my 18th birthday (so I wouldn't have it during Christmas and new years) and I told mom I was getting it the morning I went to the piercer, mom knew she couldn't do anything about it because I was 18 and she just had to deal with it also I'd been asking for it for years but always got a no, basically I could wait and so can you, it will be frustrating but will be worth it when you get it
thats a hard one! all parents are different and some are more strict then others. just tell your mom all the pros of the piercing like how it's not really a noticeable piercing, it won't leave any scars or marks, & look for good piercing shop so you could show them that you've done your research & that its safe. if that fails, just keep begging them and if that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait to you're the legal age lol :/ i personally got my tongue pierced behind my parents back and my dad was sooo pissed!

i know i'm like 8 months late but i just have to say that i've wanted my tongue pierced since i was like 11 (or i started liking the piercing when i was 11 but i knew very well i had to be atleast a few years older to get one so i wasn't stupid) and now i'm FINALLY 18 since february this year so i finally have my tongue piercing and it's totally worth the long, long wait. I got my belly pierced with only my dad knowing (divorced parents) and my mum got both sad and angry. I regret not telling her. So that's not worth it, i still feel shame when my belly piercing is out and she's around so i kinda wanna hide it and that's not how you want it to be. Moral of the story, if you really want some kind of piercing but your parents really won't let you, the pros are that you get a few years to really think about if you really want it (especially if it's a piercing that leaves a scar if you take it out) and the second thing it's that it's going to feel so great when you finally have it and it's SO worth the wait.

No no no your wrong. Maybe it wasn’t painful in your case. I had my tongue pierced 6 days ago. Let me tell you it was extremely painful when I was having it pierced it made me scream it was unbearable. My daughter had hers done at the same time by the same person and didn’t flinch. Hardly no bleeding with both piercings. I have a very low pain fresh hold and the healing process is usually very slow for me wether it be a piercing or operation. I’ve been in horrendous pain since and still am in quite a lot of pain now. My daughter how ever as had a lot of an easier time with hers her pain as be very manageable and her swelling as gone down a lot, she can eat solid food where as I cannot yet. I’ve had mine looked at and everything is okay. So the moral of the story is we are all different and experience thing differently. And it all depends on your pain threshold. I know your trying to help but your only going of your own experience and it’s a little misleading, although I know you are not misleading people by choice. Life is too short not to enjoy what you want. As long as you're being responsible about some of the things you do. My only concern was safety. Besides, I look very young for my age. she probably had a vein in the middle of her tongue, & to avoid it they had to pierce it (or just the bottom) closer to the tip.

How long did you wait to change to a shorter bar?
For me I waited almost 3 weeks to change it for the first time!

Chrissie Beaven both my parents weren't happy I got it, I got it like a month after my 18th birthday (so I wouldn't have it during Christmas and new years) and I told mom I was getting it the morning I went to the piercer, mom knew she couldn't do anything about it because I was 18 and she just had to deal with it also I'd been asking for it for years but always got a no, basically I could wait and so can you, it will be frustrating but will be worth it when you get it

thats a hard one! all parents are different and some are more strict then others. just tell your mom all the pros of the piercing like how it's not really a noticeable piercing, it won't leave any scars or marks, & look for good piercing shop so you could show them that you've done your research & that its safe. if that fails, just keep begging them and if that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait to you're the legal age lol :/ i personally got my tongue pierced behind my parents back and my dad was sooo pissed!
for me I kind of did it in the moment. my mum was getting her nose pierced and I threw in how I wanted my tongue pierced and even though it would be a usual "no" she was all for it and I got it done that day :)
i know i'm like 8 months late but i just have to say that i've wanted my tongue pierced since i was like 11 (or i started liking the piercing when i was 11 but i knew very well i had to be atleast a few years older to get one so i wasn't stupid) and now i'm FINALLY 18 since february this year so i finally have my tongue piercing and it's totally worth the long, long wait. I got my belly pierced with only my dad knowing (divorced parents) and my mum got both sad and angry. I regret not telling her. So that's not worth it, i still feel shame when my belly piercing is out and she's around so i kinda wanna hide it and that's not how you want it to be. Moral of the story, if you really want some kind of piercing but your parents really won't let you, the pros are that you get a few years to really think about if you really want it (especially if it's a piercing that leaves a scar if you take it out) and the second thing it's that it's going to feel so great when you finally have it and it's SO worth the wait.
Listen to your parents. Get it done when you move out and make your own rules

I did not have a lisp before getting my tongue piercing three days ago and I have one while dealing with my swelling. I don't recommend telling people that they will only have a lisp if they had one prior to getting pierced.

Yalu Hernandez the youngest you can be at my knowledge on your own is 18, you can get anything with the presence and signature of your parent/guardian, but I know some places won’t pierce younger than 13 even with a parent with you, just gotta do some research

No no no your wrong. Maybe it wasn’t painful in your case. I had my tongue pierced 6 days ago. Let me tell you it was extremely painful when I was having it pierced it made me scream it was unbearable. My daughter had hers done at the same time by the same person and didn’t flinch. Hardly no bleeding with both piercings. I have a very low pain fresh hold and the healing process is usually very slow for me wether it be a piercing or operation. I’ve been in horrendous pain since and still am in quite a lot of pain now. My daughter how ever as had a lot of an easier time with hers her pain as be very manageable and her swelling as gone down a lot, she can eat solid food where as I cannot yet. I’ve had mine looked at and everything is okay. So the moral of the story is we are all different and experience thing differently. And it all depends on your pain threshold. I know your trying to help but your only going of your own experience and it’s a little misleading, although I know you are not misleading people by choice. Life is too short not to enjoy what you want. As long as you're being responsible about some of the things you do. My only concern was safety. Besides, I look very young for my age.
