    Crazy to fit a diesel heater under a vehicle seat! Bear in mind the foam in the seat is probably the most inflammable material in the van, and if it catches fire, the smoke itself is highly noxious and can in itself kill. Best to move it to somewhere well away from things like seat foam.

    those plastic ramps are known to fail. if you value your life get 10- 20 ton car jack stands or look up 2x 4 wood cribbing, it's used to hold heavy machinery, but i use the 20 ton stands myself, it's $100-150

    Should be nice and toasty in there this winter! And maybe you already have one, but a carbon monoxide alarm would be good to have as well.

      @JodieandJoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We definitely have one! Safety first!

      it exhausts outside.

    • @jix177
      @jix177 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alanhat5252 Yes but exhausts can develop leaks, combustion chambers can leak, exhaust fumes could seep back into the interior through some other previously harmless vent nearby, etc. Wherever you have combustion it makes sense to have an alarm too.

    • @alanhat5252
      @alanhat5252 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jix177 the entire exhaust is outside, the joint to the casting is outside.
      If the casting leaks combustion products the plastic casing will catch fire.
      That leaves backflow from vents. How much CO is there & how likely do you think it is that there might be a significant backflow that is somehow separated from the smell of burnt Diesel?
      I really do think you're worrying overmuch.

    Hi Jodie & Joe, I’m about to fit a 5kw diesel heater in my Fiat Ducato and like your solution. Before I start is there anything you would change or reconsider if you were to do it again? All advice welcome 🙏 looking forward to you next episode. Cheers 🍻

    • @JodieandJoe
      @JodieandJoe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nothing I would change regarding the heater. The location is perfect for us tucked away under the chair and the 5kw is enough to keep it at 18°C during the current -4°C.
      We've had no issues whatsoever

    • @alanhat5252
      @alanhat5252 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a worry. If the unit was going to get hot enough to light wood on fire its plastic case would be in a puddle on top protecting it. The exhaust is plenty far enough away because of the turret mounting.
