a young wonderful lady i met 20 years ago i was a very close to her mother and also her son they played sit down at her funeral she loved that song and everyone loved her i will never forget her or her wonderful family
This was easily the best T in the... festival I went too ( 1990 something was close but only because of the Prodigy headlining) But this T was completely perfect. Took us about 6 hours to gradually get to the very front row for James. And damn, they did not disappoint- every song from the new album and ALL James very best pure classics.
I'm only saying this is a good band, decent music, lyrics. I don't listen to mainstream anything, including news. Rather than feel sorry for "the likes of me" why not explore what I enjoy, get educated about it, and I'll do the same for you. Music is called the universal language for good reason. It is.
Correct, SmithsnMoz, you have to go exploring to find the good stuff. I've listened to KROC for years. What I'm trying to get back now is all I missed of the 90s brit-pop alternative indie stuff. James and Tim Booth are exceptional. Happy listening!
it's a mad-chester tradition. bands that came out of that period usually had a guy up on the stage just either hippy dancing to their songs or playing some hand-held percussion. ;)
@eKriZZLe I'm not a smug Brit (boy you're biased) I'm an American, raised on the music of the 60s. I "speculated" on why this country missed out on "James" because that's why we do here, isn't it - we give our opinions and don't expect to be reminded our shit stinks. Britain HAS "latched onto" our music for years, fortunately, or we wouldn't have the Beatles doing "Twist & Shout" or Clapton doing Muddy Waters.
I think the reason America lost out in recognizing the genius of James is because the band didn't come pre-packkaged and dripping with hype - which we seem to want for some dumb damn reason. Our loss.
@@yogavnture1 Hi yogi. Yeah, it's been a mystery about Tim and the band James, why so little American airplay - which is probably why they had no big fan base here. Yet, at that NYC concert a few yrs back, it was packed. Go figure.
@@Ptinski my take is that he has some feminine energy. which Americans prefer bruce springsteen image..................i don't even think elton john would have made it big in usa except for his madman on the water album , was just too good to ignore
@@yogavnture1 Good point, Tim does possess that female spirit and his lyrics bear that out. He feels things the way a woman would, I'd offer. Very deeply, passionately. Men are usually told not to show such emotions, esp here in good ole USA, Inc. As for Bruce? I adore the guy, he's just as deep and emotional as you can imagine, maybe you've not listened to his lyrics enough? His latest "Western Stars" is full of pathos and melancholy! Believe me, for a rocker, Bruce is deep.
@@Ptinski i have memories of bruce with the pretty girl dancing on stage. born in USA? cosmetic............i like Tim because he just lays it out their without the cosmetics
@Stuart Thanks for noticing I'm American. It seems obvious this country discards true music in place of the garbage we're handed, and I do believe it IS our loss, when it comes to groups like "James". However, in general we're still the home of R&B, which is where the UK gets its best from, as they readily admit.
thats andy he plays the trumpet, they recorded this song a couple of years before the he joined the band. so naturaly he doesnt play in this song, which is why he doesnt do anything here. if you click the link on the right.... ring the bells live.. you'll see what he's all about ..........good musician.
This person is American actually if you re-read their post, an excellent retaliation but marred by rushing to reply before reading. "Which WE seem to want" and "OUR loss". Dunno, what do you think? You don't need smug Brits when you're obsessed with yourselves maybe? :P
SmithsnMoz I DO speak for myself. No need to "feel sorry" I accept your opinion with no rancor. lol came back to see and hear this again, saw a few things I never stayed up-to-date on, comment-wise. Anyway, hope your musical life is cool, as to what mainstream radio plays, I actually don't own one.
+eKriZZLe I just saw this again with you thinking I was British lol. Why had you never apologized for ranting at me as you did? I explained my stance in my reply to you, as to why we here in the States missed out on "James" - did you ever read it? Come on, say something clever.
Catherine Rapicano I just found this video by accident and read some of the comments. I've been a James fan for 20 years, and let me tell you, they always had the this thing of letting their music speak for them and not selling just to become another radio star.
Speak for yourself, but i knew the crap mainstream radio shoves down your throat.. Thank god for KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles .. i do feel sorry for the likes of you though. Time for you to go exploring man..
Happy times that feels like century ago..

There is no music like this anymore ):!
Take me back a few generations.
This is so beautiful.
Great song. Named my son after him and then he went to Shrewsbury school.
such a lovely song, lovely words
Entirely beautiful, Anne. What a poetic genius Tim Booth is.
This is my life in this one song
this always cheers me up:)

If only town bullies and national leaders would.....er....stand up....and dance to the sentiment of this song, the world would be a better place!

I had this record back then. I have to say i hear major problems with the singin in this performance, though
Game of trhones
Why the fear of religion 20 years later?....Things are patently different when you're young and your hair is long methinks..
hmmm sry i just think this band is great n the singer is delicious
