William Penn “Fruits of Solitude” “We seem to give them back to Thee, O God, who gavest them to us. Yet as thou didst not lose them in giving, so do we, not lose them by their return. Not as the world giveth, givest Thou, O Lover of souls. What Thou givest, Thou takest not away for what is thine is ours also if we are thine. And life is eternal and love is immortal and death is only an horizon and an horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. Lift us up strong Son of God, that we may see further; cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly; draw us closer to Thyself that we may know ourselves to be nearer to our Loved ones who are with Thee. And while Thou does prepare a place for us, prepare us also for that happy place, that where Thou art we may also be for evermore.” William Penn in 1693
When the camera panned over the crowd, I saw the guy in a blue t shirt crying. I wanted to reach through my phone, hold him and say 'it's ok, let it out..."❤❤
You were all amazing. I cried. Beautiful. Thank you ♥️😍. I will always remember this experience. I’ll cry beautifully every time I hear this 🥰. Love ❤️
You should never have "left"... A mighty band that has entertained generations. Band members may change but the magic of the tunes will never alter or fail to entertain...
I saw them live at the halifax peace hall a year or two after this and they were amazing, there was a thunderstorm and they had to cut all power and leave for a bit, but we were still having a great time in the pissing rain with the rest of the crowd.
I’m a professor at a major university and have seen, and personally experienced, the tragic effects of mental illness, hate, and the pandemic on many young people. I played this song for my class of >100 freshmen just yesterday - and sat down in front of them all. After the latest US election result, and so much more, our world needs songs like this “anthem of kindness” to lift our spirits in love, in tears, in hate, in fear - and in shared sympathy. Thank you, Tim and James, for your beautiful music and what it means to me and so many. ❤✌️☮️❤️
I'll sing myself to sleep A song from the darkest hour Secrets I can't keep Inside of the day Swing from high to deep Extremes of sweet and sour Hope that God exists I hope I pray Drawn by the undertow My life is out of control I believe this wave will bear my weight So let it flow Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Now I'm relieved to hear That you've been to some far out places It's hard to carry on When you feel all alone Now I've swung back down again It's worse than it was before If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Those who feel the breath of sadness Sit down next to me Those who find they're touched by madness Sit down next to me Those who find themselves ridiculous Sit down next to me Love, in fear, in hate, in tears Down Down Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Oh sit down Sit down next to me Sit down, down, down, down, down In sympathy Down
If you haven't seen James live and the opportunity comes along to do so.....do yourself a favour. Love that Tim takes out his earpieces so he can soak up the audience singing along with him. Sadly the band didn't sing this song when I went to see them a week ago.

Wow, the secret that I keep is that I got a taxi up to the hospital where my dad was dying and walked away because I wanted to keep the memories of my hero. Is that selfish
Selfish, NO! The memories of the dearly departed are a lot less important than the memories that hold the mortal mind intact. We have to be realistic, it took a strong mind to make that choice. I'm with you, also I would consider it a honor if you would mail me with how that decision has comforted you in life.
Worked in a care home during the pandemic The hardest time of my life So sad for residents and Thier families and traumatic for staff while the government had parties 🎉
“If I hadn’t seen such riches I could live with being poor”. One of my favourite lyrics
Agreed...
Mine also
Nah think about it, "i hope that God exists, I hope I pray
I could, what does that mean? could is not the same as being poor...
It took me years, if not decades, to recover from my first love. In the depths of my deepest depression, this line would echo.

Beautiful - humanity at its best
There are few stars that always feel sincere and beautifully caring. Johnny Marr is one and Tim Booth is undoubtedly another
I saw them both on a double bill last week. Both do seem very sincere and genuine men.
When the camera panned over the crowd, I saw the guy in a blue t shirt crying. I wanted to reach through my phone, hold him and say 'it's ok, let it out..."❤❤
That got to me too
Me too! I’m the exact same at concerts, they’re so emotional for me x

I'll sing myself to sleep
A song from the darkest hour
Secrets I can't keep
Inside of the day
Swing from high to deep
Extremes of sweet and sour
Hope that God exists
I hope I pray
Drawn by the undertow
My life is out of control
I believe this wave will bear my weight
So let it flow
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Now I'm relieved to hear
That you've been to some far out places
It's hard to carry on
When you feel all alone
Now I've swung back down again
It's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears
Down
Down
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy
Down
Magic

Maybe he wanted that for you. Don't beat yourself up fella!

My dad died by suicide 24th Aug 2010 then my brother doee 3 months to day latter 😮
I'm so so sorry for your loss I also lost my dad to suicide 😢
I pray that you are able to heal. They are still with you. You will all be in my prayers tonight
The lad can sing. All that Zoom call nonsense. All the mask-wearing? What did it achieve?
It achieved nothing but sadness and grief. To say good bye to a dying person via zoom is cruel and inhuman
Saw them at beatherder festival during the won't day this song period.brilliant
